Vintage was brought in by LBGP association ,HMSA has been doing this since Toyota quit the celebrity race

@@510jon i believe the vintage GTO class is racing at every IMSA event in 2019 to commemorate the 50th anniversary. But thats cool the LBGP and HMSA got the ball rolling

the FC Rx7 and Mercury Cougar are by far my favorite of this group.

@@uncay2769 at 1950's Merc got banned after the insident when the silver arow crash in barrier and explode, many was died from the flying engine, the a many years past at 1999 the Mercedesbenz CLR driven by Mark Webber take off and fly during warm up lap, then during race, Peter Dumbrick also take offhis car and fly behind the Toyota GT-One, the 3rd car sudenly retired after the incident, luckily both driver in different car where safe and uninjured,due to those incident, Mercedes Benz Promise they will not return to Le Mans.

These cars look way better than modern race cars

You can tell they either don't know much about the cars/drivers unless they're holding back for whatever reason.

Friggin sick, its always been my dream to see old cars like this in high def video and sound. It's so hard to do these cars justice with old TV broadcasts, and I wasn't alive to see these in person.

with all due respect, the commentary sucks. So much dead air time, the guys didn’t talk about the cars, didn’t tell us anything about the drivers. It’s like sitting in a little league game in a small town listen to Jimbo trying his best to match all the numbers and names of each players while mentioned nothing about the play or the team

@pagansforbreakfast well isnt that a smarmy way of saying you disagree. If we can be objective here, there is a significant amount of dead air which is one of the most important things to avoid as a broadcaster or commentator. Like an uncomfortable amount of dead air. And the sound engineers for the broadcast don't turn up the audio of the race, it's just quiet with faint engine noises. Not to mention nothing insightful is added that we can't see for ourselves and unless you actively follow this particular series, you have no idea the circumstances of the race or anything whatsoever. But yeah we're all just nascar watching idiots. Wish we could all be like you =/

The cars are the thing to listen to and watch, commentary is just an optional luxury

I would love to hear better the cars, but well, at least i can hear that rotary every time he's passing the finish line!

Man. I witnessed this in person. I have been to every LB GP since like 2010. This was by far, the coolest most exciting race. I'm into old school historical stuff, and I just have a huge affinity towards cars of the 80s and 90s. I mean this really did it for me. I loved every second of it. I loved that I got to go see the cars. I hope they continue with vintage and historic race cars. Legit the pinnacle of all of LB GP to me.

Man this bring back memories. Missing this era of motorsports including Group B rally, the Group C cars, Formula 1etc..

God I wish the commentary was turned down, these are by far the best sounding cars of the weekend

So cool. I bought the 1991 Ford Roush Mustang GTO on Forza and am so curious about this epic class of cars. Definitely gonna save this video and watch after work.

I remember when these cars raced for competition here back in the late 80s and early 90s. Takes me back to some good memories

I would love to see these on Road America!

When I saw that #95 Exxon, I felt a feeling in my chest I haven't felt since my high school crush.

God I’d loved to have been there for this. These and the GTP cars where the cars of my childhood. I like modern racing but nothing compares to Imsa in the 80s and early 90s. I miss going to the Camel GT at Portland’s PIR every summer. I was out there today watching some club racing. When I’m at the track I spend more time reminiscing and talking about the “good ol days” then I do watching the cars. At least I can relive it through sim racing with VR. Ha!

they run with CSRG at Sonoma, The only cars that I know of that are banned in vintage racing are turbo era F! cars

Takes me back to Riverside, watched IMSA GTP 6 hour endurance race from 1982-1987.

My favorite class of all time!

I absolutely appreciate the new forza for including more of these cars

Great to see all these cars again! Then I realised something...I saw 'em race when they were new and now they are rated as being HISTORIC! Oh well...must get back to hooking up my Graphic Equalizer...

man i miss these days it was so different back then, i have every car here in 1/18 gmp diecast bout $20,000 worth of em ...gto was a fun class 2.3l to V8s that’s whistler radar detectors ✌🏻and roush’s old Xr4ti was the first car i started racing in 88

That Z on the pole, what a beautiful machine. I remember seeing that car in Gran Turismo 2, as a kid and developing a strong affinity for it.

They were taken back by the awesomeness. this is their era of racing, so they have very fond memories of them.

Great video. But 1/2 the field is trans am not GTO. And the 33 Duracell car was driven by Scott sharp not Scott Pruitt

Rick Hoppe It’s because the commentary is for the track radio that the spectators can tune into. It’s not really meant for video really hence the dead air, why he is saying ‘on the big screen’ etc. Might be bring captain obvious with this but seen it being mentioned a lot

Theyre broadcasting to the track over the loud speakers, so I guess theyre just updating everyone that has a screen to look at it lol even though at a street course thats all you usually do lol

To anyone wondering, I did set up in the Expo area for LBGP, and let me tell that rx7 is ripe in person. Best sound in the world.
