2019 Ford Focus Active Safety Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. Recently(ish) I reviewed the Ford Focus Active X (full review is coming, I promise!) and seeing as it had a fair amount of safety kit, I thought some of you may want to know more about it, and to see it in practice.

    Good afternoon everybody! Thank you so much for dropping in on this video, I hope you found it helpful and useful. If you have any questions or feedback, please do let me know. I'm hoping to have the full review for this car uploaded within the next few days, so be sure to keep an eye out for it!

    Thanks again for spending time to test the primary safety features. I'm an older driver, and the performance of these systems are highest on my selection criteria for our next car.

    For pre-collision assist I have it set to high. But it only ever flashes on screen, brakes never automatically apply

    The way the auto park function left too much space to the curb proves why it's best to master the parallel parking skill without relying upon driving aids. Here in the U.S., the parallel parking portion of the driving test was so nerve racking, since the rest of the test was relatively easy, especially compared to the U.K. road test!

    Thanks, it’s been an interesting watch as I’m considering the option packs for the focus and which ones are worth having. I wondered if you could use the park assist feature just in terms or front, side and rear parking sensors - ie. manually park with all the sensors helping?

  • @CarObsession

    @CarObsession

    Yeah, you can use the front and rear sensors without the Park Assist - thanks for watching.

    Regarding blind spot warnings, some cars have it in the mirror itself, as the Ford Focus does, and some I think have the warning adjacent to the mirror. Have you experienced both, and do you find one better than the other?

  • @CarObsession

    @CarObsession

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I have experienced both, and I actually prefer systems adjacent to the mirror as I find they fall in my peripheral vision better. Thanks for watching.

    Adaptive cruise control should of come as standard on the titanium, virtually no one added it as an optional extra, can't find any second hand focus with it.

    Nice Video! How would you rate the lane centering system when coupled with the adaptive cruise control? Can you compare with the Nissan ProPilot system? I found that system pretty good, but a few times, the Nissan got a bit too close to the line in the road and was worried that cars in the other lane would think I was not paying attention. I took over obviously. Did that happen during testing? Could you 'rely' on it? Thank you.

    Hi flyingf0x, thanks for watching. Both systems work well, and I think I'd have to use them back-to-back to give you a definitive conclusion.

    Does the park assist only in the auto? I can't imagine this being a thing in a manual vehicle. How many cameras are you using and what cameras are they? I see the Go Pro.

    Hello HM Car Reviews, thanks for watching. The auto actually has Park Assist (yes, I know, I was just calling it Park Assist in this video) - the manual also gets Park Assist, but it requires more manual input from the driver. I have 6 cameras in total, but three were used for this video; GroPro Hero 4, Hero5 and my Canon G7X Mark II.

    I noticed you have radio station icons which display on sync 3. Is there a setting in settings to turn this feature on? As I have sync 3 with 3.0 software and I don’t have this feature just the radio name no station icons.

    I could, but A) I'd need to find a big box, and B) I would need to find a big open space with no other motorists or pedestrians (I live in a built up area), so it's not as easy as it may sound. Thanks for watching.

    If you are doing 70 mph on the motorway and the speed limit suddenly changes to 50, this car will recognise it and automatically reduce speed by 20 mph without a hint of any brake lights ? ... I feel sorry for the occupants of the vehicle following you when they smash into the rear of your brand new all singing all dancing pride and joy !!
