I loved my flex, but then a deer decided to see it up close. It had everything I needed, but now I am retired and cannot replace it. Over 200,000 miles with no trouble. I miss that car already, and I can't get a replacement.

The limited flex with eco boost is the ultimate family hauler roadtrip vehicle. Not many cars on the road that can match it's performance when out on the open highway. A gas guzzler in the city, but not so bad on highway. The twin turbo eco boost is a monster!

Bought a 2014 Flex less than a week ago. Not quite as nice the one featured here but 96000 on the clock and the much lower price tag of $12800 closed the deal. These are very nice vehicles, and I was saddened to hear that ford was discontinuing production. Ford should have made a commercial version with two doors and from the drivers seat back a flat cargo area. It would have made a much nicer delivery vehicle than those big ugly vans,

Too bad they can't build it properly. Ordered a 19 limited flex since Feb received it a week after may 24 long weekend and came defected from factory. Roof is twisted around sunroof water leaks inside harness cut and needed to be replaced according to head mechanic at Oakland ford Lincoln in Oakville down the street from the plant where it's built.Fenders doors and truck not aligned. Run down on the clear coat and it's been at the shop for 2 months end of May going onto Augest. They Received 2 more on the lot that #2 ford flex and as everyone knows they stop making em now so I had to get what ever is left around Ontario. Dark gray paint is all flaky panels missed aligned, speaker wire hanging out of the rear right buckle piller in the trunk. Flex # 3 outer door trim by window flew off on test drive. Nicely build Ford keep in mind I've been a proud ford owner since day 1 and all head office can tell me there isn't any program for issues like this well maybe they should start since they're building crap. Now Im stuck with flex number 3 because it's in better shape then my 1st one that was custom built, it's at the body shop to get the rear bumper repainted as they damaged it and tryed touching up the paint by over spray all over the black trim and roof as the car is white and black roof. I love the vehicle don't get me wrong drives nice and lots of space but I'd be emberest to sell something like that. And Ford basically told me I'm shit out of luck. Tryed contacting the head office and can't get a hold of the manager that's taking care of my Cass been calling for a week left messages and no replay so I'm trying to get help from people with my experience I'm having.

...because they didn't market it AT ALL! Have you ever seen a Flex commercial? When was the last time you saw a Flex ad in a newspaper or magazine? Production numbers were LOW (almost 10% of the number of F-150s produced!), and folks were simply NOT AWARE of this car! If the Flex EcoBoost had the same marketing support that Ford's giving the Edge ST, we would be seeing them EVERYWHERE! And they would stay in production. The platform (engine, suspension, steering components) will live on, underneath the Explorer.

@@thomasjohnston2889 what are you a Chevy lover? I've owned five Taurus models, all Limiteds. The only one that gave me that problem, was the 2010 I bought used, with 164,000 miles on the odo. I put an additional 110,000 when the water pump gave out. I paid $955.00, for Ford to repair. After another 552 miles of driving, I traded it in on a 2012. I bought them every two years, and averaged 178,000 before trading it in. I don't know how the person, who pre owned the 2010, serviced the car when he had it. He may have dogged it out. I got a lot of miles out of it before it gave out. I've had four others, since then, and I still have the 2018. It's currently at 162,000. If it wasn't for Covid, there would be plenty more miles. I never even knew that was an issue. That engine has been out since 2006. The Eco boost a year later. Ford has sold over 37,000,000 cars since 06. Maybe some people don't treat their car the way they need to, and then blame it on the manufacturer. I've owned five. It's a non issue, to me. The only thing I've ever done to the four other cars is change the fluids and oil, and rotate the tires or replace if needed. NOTHING else. Where you come up with this $8,000 to repair a water pump is crazy and pathetic, on your part.

I bought a Limited on August 15, 2020 with 25K miles. I paid 22K. It is not the AWD but it does have the still good base engine packing 287 HP. It gets worse gas milage than any midsize SUV/wagon ought to. Way worse. But that's not where this vehicle shines and I imagine Ford is offing it not because it sold... but because it did and it was gutting the Edge (below it) and the cannibalizing the Explorer above it. On the limited version I have, the only thing it doesn't have that the Explorer version had is the cooled seats and all around camera. That's it. It had everything the Edge had except the Edge is not a legit 3 row SUV. So my choices became get a smaller more fuel efficient Edge (which is a great vehicle) or pay 12K more and get the larger better looking Explorer. Now let me say the Explorer DEFINITELY looks better but the practically of giving up 12K just to say I had an Explorer had me pausing every time. Every time. There was was no way to justify buying an equally outfitted Explorer for 12K more based on looks. And imagine Ford ran into this issue a lot where both were sold and just decided to stop the bleeding. How else do you justify Ford killing off its ONLY legit 3rd row SUV despite solid track sales and no real replacement below the costly Explorer which can't even be had in 3briws anymore on the base or S trims? All in all, fast forward to November 2020, I still only have about 31K miles on the odometer and something curious has happened; you can't find a 2019 Flex Limited (last production year) in my area within100 miles at the price I paid of shade under 22K. So much so that dealerships are ACTIVELY asking me to sale my Flex back at current rates (about 26K based on the last offer). This move would net me 1) yet another paid off vehicle on my credit but 2) also net me about $4100 based in my current pay off. I only put down 1K to begin with and my credit hasn't changed so, realistically, if I took the offer, I could throw $3100 in savings and still go get another car. The problem is this now though; because if the strange decision Ford made to gut this lineup along with the excellent price I got, I probably wi never be upside down (or far upside down) as long as I own it and keep it in good condition. The other problem is that, at the price I paid, there simply aren't any competitors. Let me be clear, there are plenty of other 3 row SUV's I liked (especially outside the Explorer) but the value was either missing (Pilot and CR-V came in at similar prices but for less than Limited trims) or the 3rd row was not truly usable (Volkswagen Tiguan namely). I really liked the Tiguan, it had a much better warranty, and the inline 5 (or 4) is miles more fuel efficient than either of the engines the Flex were throwing out. Those 3rd row seats though were laughable. Trim to trim, no complains and the Tiguan actually gave more value but usability of that 3rd row in the Tiguan was just killer. My 9 year old (who is a shade under 5 feet) had to sit sideways. My 6ft 16 year old could sit back there but also full length sideways which made me wonder what it would be like if I had to sit more than one person back there for a trip... which we take often. So the Flex won. And it wasn't even really that close. Your review has pretty much confirmed that even I am finding your review almost a year after I spent 6 months reviewing the same vehicle. I am sad I didn't get the turbo or the all wheel drive version in the Limited I did get. I've since learned that is/was a regional and intentional thing with the Southern versions of Flex Limited losing the turbo and all wheel drive especially for former fleet vehicles as well as the cooled seats. I think I could have done without everything else but the cooled seats were killer. They were standard on every Flex Limited model prior to 2018 but became an either/or option beginning in 2018 if the model was equipped with remote start. So if you got remote start on your 2018 or newer, you almost certainly don't have cooled seats and vice versa. It just seems Ford was more concerned with pushing the Flex as a mid-tier people mover (which is was) instead of capitalizing on the very value capable utilitarian aspect of the only vehicle in it's lineup not named Explorer or Expedition. Proof that they missed this is the rejuvenated interest the Flex is having almost a year after it was announced it won't be returning. It is a certifiable collectable and a big part of that is because of how unique and useful it is. My opinion is that they will bring it back (especially in light of the decision to stop selling every passenger car not named Mustang) and have it slot right back between the Edge and the Explorer. It will probably not get any newer trims (cannibalism and whatnot) but it will probably see at least sheet metal updates. At this point for would be crazy not to. The Edge (Limited) starts even lower than the Flex did so few people that are looking at an Edge at truly looking at an Explorer which is the next step up. By engaging people that want something bigger and more usable than the Edge, you might run across people that are different than me; 12K might not be too much to spend to get the better looking Explorer. And if they do act like me, they STILL spent more money on the Flex than the Edge. Should be an interesting next few years as I don't generally get rid of vehicles. I'll get to watch how this truck actually hoods up in the long run to other vehicles J was considering but, I have to say right now, I am more than satisfied with what I paid versus what I got. Lastly, I'd like to say that my last three major vehicle purchases were all foreign. That's the thing that drove my pursuit of the Tiguan. In almost 15 years, I hadn't bought an American car over a foreign one... and it worked. All three of those cars can all be named the top three cars I have EVER owned with my 2013 Passat having over 160K miles and still going. Ironically, the number 4 car on my all time greatest list of cars owned is a 2008 Expedition XLT. So Ford has some background with me but as you night imagine, the Tiguan, the Sorrento, and the Pathfinder were all more interesting to me given their more recent and successful history with me in regards to their passenger vehicle versions (Optima, Altima, and Passat). The Pathfinder is the only one of those three that actually gave the Flex a value for value fight. It was just, to me, ugly. But dimensions were the same and safety features were actually quite a bit more pervasive and available than anything in the Flex. But while the Flex is unique and more than a little odd, I wouldn't classify it as ugly. It gets looks that other SUV's don't. Praising looks. So I hope this isn't a passing thing ESPECIALLY considering just a year ago this thing was going for 50K.
