Yeah I noticed this too. I think what made crofty say this was when Kimi crossed the line and went fastest, on Hamiltons time it showed + 0.94 this was based on how far down Hamilton was at the point when Hamilton went through the middle sector compared to kimis lap. Ham still he went purple in the middle as even though it looked like he was down in the middle he was actually faster as he gained time from the first sector and then even more in the last. Hope that makes sense. I realise you didn't ask for an explanation but I wanted to type it out to help me understand too lol

And I believe Honda Pu is powerful enough to defeat Ferrari, if using better team and better chassis.. Defeat Renault is not Honda's target, Honda's target is supply engine to the right team, best chassis and better financial...to get best result.

@@jackass5066 Toro Rosso already defeated McLaren with Renault engine already, even got 4th position at bahrain with Gasly. Every Single race McLaren (Renault's Engine) has not be better than Toro Rosso (Honda's Engine). The problem is not only PU to get better result, as I said all about money. Yes, Toro Rosso must use the tires for long laps, even the tires had not rounded anymore, Gasly said. Toro Rosso is just junior in F1 competition, but Honda engine's make them has good reputation compare to McLaren -Renault.

Ocon 0.450s faster than Perez... that's way more impressive when you know the level of Perez compare to Leclerc beating Ericsson (Leclerc do the job and the Sauber car is good but it's hard to compare when Ericsson is always that slow since the start of his F1 career). Tomorrow i'm excited to see what Gasly can do with the new Honda + new aero kit ! I want to see him catch Alonso :) Looks promising !

Mclaren have been the opposite this year, as evidenced by Alonso qualifying only twice in the top 10 but having scored points in every race he finished up until Russia

Perez was a second quicker than ocon (and everyone else) in Singapore Q3. An entire second. Pity he had to go fuck it up in the race. Edit:i checked and he was 4 tenths quicker not 1 second. My point still stands. Ocons obviously better in qualifying so if Perez can pull off a 0.4 second gap then why is this a surprise?

Well I mean... Obviously, that's what happens when you don't develop your car enough or your mind is somewhere else... No surprise really. And if you meant lap times, no team went much quicker than last year because of track conditions, especially since they got knocked out in Q1 and couldn't take advantage of the improving track and decided to go first on track out of the midfield cars, which is questionable to say the least

McLaren already said that they went worse in terms of downforce compared to last years. Since they don't get bonus money from Honda anymore they've stopped developing this year's cars and are already focusing on next year's pretty much by mid season.

@@e.abrahamovich8981 You sound so smug. Nobody could have predicted anything. It was the wrong decision for Michael Scumacher to come back to Mercedes. Lewis got lucky. He was there when AMG approved increases in resources that would make Mercedes the biggest team in F1. Hiring more engineers than any other teams then (Ferrari is probably on par now), building dedicated infrastructure etc. It's all luck. Like how Toro Rosso n RB will get lucky with Honda after Honda used McLaren as a rolling Dyno in 2015-2017.

I think the terrible performance after Monza turned it around. At Singapore it was still 30 points, or winning twice and Lewis crashing once. And Hockenheim was the turning point obviously, when Vettel threw away 32 points.

I used to dislike Hamilton but the truth is that he's just amazingly good, he's very fast, he's consistent and unlike other drivers, even top ones, he rarely messes up when it really counts. Also, as someone with great admiration for Alonso, the fact that Hamilton is the only driver to have beaten him in equal or equivalent cars says a lot to me.

Tun Piccolo Sorry but this is their 2nd year with the same engine design. In 2015 they had their own garbage Japanese design, n ended up slowest. In 2016 they went much better with that design (solid midfield but still was no where near Ferrari n Merc level). 2017 they realised that their Japanese PU design was already at its limits and decided to copy Mercedes' design instead. And again they went to the back of the field. 2018 like 2016 it's their 2nd year with the same engine design n they've learnt what not to do from last year, mixing it now solidly in the midfield. Took them so long because that's how shit they were

@@dotdot8614 Total garbage. Renault is currently working with ilmor and they're still shit. In 2014 it was a new regulations for EVERYONE. Honda came up with their own shit Japanese design in 2015-2016 n ended up copying Mercedes design in 2017 n 2018 with the split turbo. That's how arrogant they were in 2015-2016. Now 2018 is like 2016, in that it's Honda's 2nd year with a new design n they went ok. I'm expecting them to be better next year. Being in F1 dedicated solely on making a power unit, I don't understand why it took them so long. All other manufacturers have to build a car alongside the engine.

Can this season end already? 17 races should be the maximum.

Max isn't just almost every time ahead of Ricciardo, but also whit quite some margin! He is on average 0,563 seconds faster! Offcourse this gap is also that big because of a few outliers, Max has been in the rain for example more than a second faster. But the fact is Ricciardo has been the slower driver. And also on the sundays, I'm just talking facts. If you don't believe me watch laptimes and statts from this season. You will be surprised of the pace difference between them...

@@giovanni7062 whit "an issue" I mean that Max hasn't driven the full session for whatever reason. Ricciardo deserved that pole, because Max made a mistake. But he hasn't shown that he was really faster than Max. With other words Max has been the faster one every time they both didn't had reliability issues or had a crash.

Finally it seemed equally matched between Ferrari and Mercedes

Hopefully not a track position battle.

It took me the same amount of time to think of this comment as it did for Verstappen to be out of qualifying.

@@Alumnikiid One thing is defending, it means that you push to keep the position, one thing is acting as a wall, which is going slower but still bring the necessary speed for not being overtaken.

@@Alumnikiid You just have to look at the lap times and use logic, it's not difficult, especially when your teammate is putting much better lap times in similar conditions and it's not a Vandoorne-Alonso comparison.

Didnt verstappen a few days ago just had a ride with riccardo in a car doing few rounds around the circuit and once they said : "be careful because the kerbs can damage ur suspension if you're not careful" and this really happened and its on him haha 😂

Verstopper device is working.
