Most of the things people would point out as negatives, are the very things I find to be positives. I'd rather have a 4-speed instead of a CVT any day. This car is easy to repair, reliable and cheap to run. Very very few cars like this left on the market. I'm sure a redesign is coming and will ruin it.

I can confirm. There’s a beat up 10-15 year old one that parks by me at work. I like it because I have a newer Corolla and love parking by Toyota cars. One day that can be my car that I’ll hopefully run into the ground haha

1:47 I see how the turn signal has chrome trim going through the middle.. this is because in Europe, above the chrome trim (inside the turn signal area of the front lights) are halogen daytime running lights, but I see in the US you cannot get daytime running lights.

Buying upgraded trim levels of an economy car is just flushing money down the toilet. That's true of any kind of car but especially economy cars.

I heard people are complaining about the cluth... but isn't all the yaris from 2006 to present.. using a cable cluth instead of a hydrolic clutch?? I know that the cable cluth has a more black and white engament with barley any grey zone for engament, but it's more reliable and long lasting for the clutch!!

It does not have a gauge but it will alert you with a warning light if the engine starts to run hot.

Fake and thumbs down. I live in Montreal and we regularly get -20. You can't drive an engine that's that cold if you know what's good for your car. Also, it will eat up a hell of a lot of fuel.

If you withhold key facts then rudely complain about the answer I give then it lowers my motivation to help you. Get an Engine block heater to start with and buy a car with a temp gauge if that is a concern. I actually think this is a pretty nice car but the 4-speed auto would kill it for me. I just don't know why Toyota won't put an extra gear in it.

I think Toyota is really hurting themselves right now - their new Corolla Hatch is a phenomenal vehicle, as is the sedan, but sourcing the Mazda2 for their new Yaris line just doesn't resonate well with me. This is a more proven, far simpler, and more handsome vehicle, in my eyes. If they could size down the Corolla Hatch's design to a new Yaris Hatch, I think they'd have a real winner on their hands. Toyota was always great at building small, affordable, and frugal vehicles and they need to continue doing so! I'd love one of these as a simple urban runabout and daily commuter to lessen the wear on my nicer vehicles! The new Mazda2-based stuff just isn't for me though. I'd've bought a Mazda if I wanted one.

I'm not a big fan of these gigantic grille. Pretty soon Toyota/Lexus vehicles will be bumperless. The Tundra and Tacoma are the only one left that still looks good.

i like yaris but a corolla is like a thousand more lol kind of pointless. unless there is something about a compact car that makes it more economical that i dont know about. dont see too many of them out there. and forget the nitrogen filled tires, indicated by the colored air valve caps. tires lose like 5 psi every year and air is 70 something percent nitrogen.

RL Agito I like the transmission in the Yaris better than the new CVT in the Corolla. I test drove a 16 Corolla and a 15 Yaris Liftback just light this one. I got the Yaris for $4k cheaper with warranty.

The black exterior isn't bad since it hides the hideous front grille design .................

I was expecting Toyota to redesign this vehicle for 2018 after 5 years of the current generation that started off in 2012.... ....but nope, instead we get another pointless refresh.....

Unfortunately, that story may also go to the Sienna as well... ....I guess the bright side is that we'll be seeing the next-gen global platform Corolla for 2020, with an all-new 2.0L Dynamic Force I4 producing 169 horsepower and 151 ft-lbs of torque. (yes, the next Corolla will receive an all-new powertrain, finally) Transmission options will also include: 1- An enhanced/refreshed 6-speed manual transmission that promises to be lightweight, compact and features a dedicated synchronizer for the reverse gear. Speaking of which, it is 7kg lighter and 24mm shorter than the current 6-speed manual on the current Corolla. Toyota says it’s also now among the smallest transmissions in the world. 2- An all-new Direct-Shift CVT, that includes a ‘launch gear’ that makes it both smoother and punchier at low speeds, and also offers a 15% larger spread between ratios. Toyota says that the shift speed also improves by 20% in over the outgoing CVT in the current Corolla. Once you’re up to speed, the transmission will jump from gear- to belt-drive, and Toyota was also able to tune the belt drive for better response at high speed thanks to the new CVT. Though, in addition, I hope that the 2.5L Dynamic Force 4-Cylinder putting out 203+hp and 184+ ft-lbs torque w/ Direct-Shift 8-speed auto combo (and even 6-speed manual option) will make its way into the all-new 2020 Toyota Corolla as the optional engine upgrade... I highly doubt the all-new Corolla will use a BMW powertrain. If one thing then the revival Supra will....

These cars will break down at 50k miles. Avoid like the plague. It's no wonder their so cheap for it to be Toyota.
