Subaru is definitely getting better and better
I have this outback. Several times it has helped with the blind spot and parking assist and the other one I was pulling out of a parking spot and could not see around me because of the large truck beside me and it stopped me and all kind o lights came on! I love this vehicle! I keep learning more each time I watch videos like this and drive, and the voice assist is so cool I impress my friends by saying just before hitting the switch computer the hit the switch and tell it to lower temp to..... or computer turn on radio station lol it's a hoot, I love my out back and since I will more than likely never buy a car again it needed to have everything that I wanted. It also rides so nice and lots of room,
I'm picking up my very first Outback next weekend, and this video was a much better orientation to the vehicle than I've seen any salesman do. Thanks for putting in all the detail!
Thank you so much for this very awesome very detailed honest review. Your review allowed me to learned more about my 2018 fully loaded red outback!!! I’m loving my car and because I’m a nurse I don’t have time to go into detailed reading. Thank you so very much for making this video. Great job!!!!
Now I can have my Wife watch this, so she can learn how to Drive her New 2018 Outback! Made this a Favorite...
Very nice camera work and commentary. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for the detailed video!.... Just ordered my '18 in the same color, in and out... but with the 3.6... looking forward to it.
I left to go car browsing yesterday and 3 hours later pulled a brand new leftover 2017 Subaru Limited into my garage. Loved the car but the instrumentation was confusing. I watched this entire video and it sure helped a great deal. Thanks.
Finally I know where everything is, will keep this handy. Hard to remember where it's all at in a 30 tech lesson. Thanks!
Great review. I like your style, tempo, and the info covered. Thank you.
Just bought this car and getting it tomorrow. Hoping I love it.
Awesome video! I’m picking up mine tomorrow afternoon!! Heavy on the tech which I love. Your video helped me make the decision to buy.
That's a really nice color with that Outback, Mike.
Love your videos! Great as always :) keep up the good work
Thorough review ... I learned a lot. Much appreciated !
Really nice video. Perfect level of detail and helpful explanations. :)
just another fantastic review by MIKE so very well done
Yaaaass. Good job, Mike. Can't wait for you to do the 2018 Legacy, since I'm looking to get that car soon. :^D
This is my dream SUV! Amazing job Mike.
Very good job! Now I can't wait until the new Ascent comes out. Thank you! Roger
BTW - You performed an outstanding job on this Video...
Solid, reliable vehicle!
The Subaru Outback has come a long way. I'm thinking about changing vehicles in two years.
The best Subaru designed car and the interior has enough amount of space with a premium material. I love this car.
ticks all boxes for me ! great video thanks
love the redesign 😍
fantastic interior
Nice job. Thank you!
Nice video. Best looking outback so far. Getting my 3.6r limited eyesight next week in tungsten metallic. Ordered the car sight unseen and no test drive. Will be selling my 2011 2.5 outback. Never even bothered testing the competitors. Will be my 3rd subie.

Man! I've been waiting for your video since quite while. Hope more are coming! Hey, do a 2018 Volvo XC90. Love your videos Mike.
I just bought the Limited 2.5 with Navigation in blue and I love the car. First time Subaru buyer. Always had Hondas and Toyotas.

How are you liking your Subie Outback with that 4 cyl engine? I keep reading many reviews where they say its very slow and one should only buy with the 6 cyl engine. And that the 4 cyl makes the CVT tranny work worse than with the 6 cyl model. I own Honda Crosstour and Toy Highlander. Going to test drive '19 Outback w 4 and 6 cyl in Touring and Limited. Maybe even the new Forrester. And will be trying the new Honda Passport EX-L too. My friends just traded his 2008 Volvo for 19 Legacy 3.5 Limited. His first Subie and he's very into a autos' safety features. He likes his 1 week old Legacy alot.
Great video! Does this video hint the next review which is Subaru Crosstrek?!
Waiting for 2019 outback
Very nice review. I just purchased a 2019 Limited.

how is the cabin noise on freeway ?
Hey Mike! Could you do a review of the 2017 Cadillac CTS?
Hey Mike great Videos had question do you know if the between the front seats console is same size as the one for the 2018 legacy limited3.6
Did you drive it? What's it like on the road? How well do Adaptive cruise control, AEB, FCW, LKA work compared with other cars in its class?
Hey Mike! Do you think you can try to do a review/night review on an Outback 3.6r Touring??
The infotainment system has NFC!
interestingly the senor for door handles and chime is the exact same as Toyota's. Maybe it is borrowed from them.
I will buy it in 2023. I hope they do not temper the sophisticated design of this car. I had a Renault back home. Never Drove a Subaru but I don't know I guess I'm sold.
A bit aerodynamic now good thing
Subaru ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍
What happened with the airbag issue of the 2015, is that fixed in the 2018?
With all of these safety features! Why does Subaru not have rain sensing wipers? This car is currently the safest and functional on the streets. I just notice it is equipped on the Ascent, but not the Outback.
Question: In doing research on this vehicle it appears it has some SERIOUS problems with the infotainment system and the head unit. Have you heard anything along those lines?
can you get 2018 Subaru Crossterk PLz

Great video! I have this vehicle- I bought the 2018 3.6 Outback limited a month ago. Love it! One question-often when I try to pop the hatch with the interior button it gives me two quick chirps and does not open- yes I have the key- why is it not opening the hatch? Thanks!

Cyndi Crain I have had this “problem” and later found that the rear hatch would not open unless these two conditions are met: 1. Car is in park 2. You have unlocked all door by pressing the unlock button. Hope that helps!

How do you like your Outback. Any troubles with the infotainment , crack windshield etc?.
Could Toyota and Suabru make somekind of alliance like Renault with Nissan ?
This is nice of Subaru outback model 2018 I have interest in the Wagon Can you send me the price of the wagon . Thanks.
Thanks for the review. I think the people at Subaru listened to all the critics and its a shame. They turned a utilitarian station wagon into not true crossover anymore but a full size SUV. I liked and most if not many will agree we loved the outback because it was a wagon. Subaru if you people are reading this please give us the wagon we adored so much and the infotainment to many things to operate. We love safety but please keep our or should I say your wagon simple to operate and fun loving once again. My old car was a Ford Explorer and the newest models of outback are the same height. I wanted an outback because it was lower and more car like. Thanks for reading stay strong. CRP.
They could of kept the sensors and the paddle shift, which could of reduced the value by up to 2k. I mean its like bloatware on a smartphone!
Looks promising, although It's unclear which items come with a Limited model order and what are the additional items paid for...

The biggie is the eyesight system which is a $2085. option. A lot of the limited's have this installed so if you're shopping it may be hard to find one without it on the dealer lots. I just bought one without eyesight, but they only had 3 so I didn't have much choice of color.

Eyesight is still completely camera based. There are no exterior sensors for it.

So a bird dropping can disable the whole system? Adaptive Cruise and everything?
@niuhuskieguy
6 жыл бұрын
MikesCarInfo I won't say it's not possible, but have never had that happen during the time I have had mine. The wipers do wipe the camera area and there is a third nozzle for the windshield washer for the camera.

+niuhuskieguy Interesting thanks for the info. I thought for sure it had a radar type sensor like other cars as well.
@Intrepid175a

The Eyesight system disabled by bird droppings? Probably possible but also easy enough to fix. I read a short article some time ago about the advantages and disadvantages of Eyesight over the more conventional radar dependent versions. The two things I remember about it is, as a disadvantage, the Eyesight is more susceptible to adverse weather such as rain, and I suppose, a dirty windshield although if the weather gets bad enough, the radar based systems can also be effected too, just not at quickly. One of the advantages of Eyesight is, it's not nearly as likely to be effected by minor damage. It doesn't take much of a fender bender on the front of the car to throw the radar sensors out of alignment. That makes the repair process more complicated and costly. The other side of that coin is, if you have any windshield damage (rock damage, etc.) that can effect the Eyesight which, from what I've read, would also need to be recalibrated after a windshield replacement. There's no free lunch either way. One thing I do know from the research I've done, Subaru's Eyesight system is by far one of the best safety systems on the market and outperforms by a significant margin, the vast majority of the radar based systems out there.
@niuhuskieguy

Steven Rhodes I've only experienced Eyesight being disabled by weather on two occasions, one was an extremely heavy rain event, one of the heaviest I have driven through, and once during very heavy snow. Definitely situations that are not normally encountered on a daily basis.

whats up with the Speed Limit Display that comes on when I'm driving. It doesn't even match the speed that I'm going at. I'll be going 24mph and the Speed Limit display will be showing 49?? Anyone know how to turn this setting off or explain to me why it does this?? I have this exact model car.

Hey Mike do you believe that if u have a new car u have to break it in for the first 1k miles?
@MikesCarInfo
6 жыл бұрын
Manufacturers recommend to just drive the car normally during "break in" period. The rings and cylinder wall are the only thing that needs to break-in together and engines usually have an hour or more on the engine before it gets to the dealership lot. Once the engine reaches full operating temperature and runs for a while the surfaces are 90% mated already. If the rings are not mated then the vehicle will typically smoke from burning oil until the rings break in.
@francisbonga5936
6 жыл бұрын
when usually is the break in period? I mean until what mileage?
@MikesCarInfo
6 жыл бұрын
Engine should be broken in fairly well after 300 miles or so.
If you value recreational outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, or need to carry larger equipment on the roofracks my advice is to stay away from these vehicles. The roofracks "support the active lifestyle image" but in practice have serious shortfalls (so I have buyer's remorse!) This style of roof rack came with my MY2015 Subaru Outback in Australia, and I have found it awful for kayaking and many other applications. The problems I've noticed are: 1) insufficient width (breadth) between the rails to carry two kayaks, especially the beamier fishing kayaks I use (which at 80cm are too wide to put up on their edge safely). . 2) insufficient adjustability in the fore and aft direction to space the cross bars more widely apart for longer items (including kayaks) 3) nowhere easily accessible protruding to tie off ropes/ straps (in the past the protruding ends of the cross bars served this purpose nicely) - so you have to reach in and under the cross beams to find some space to tie off - in a space already narrowed by kayak holders this becomes awkward. 4) inadequate load rating (only 150 lb or about 68kg). to be of use for many circumstances 5) general flimsiness in construction /I note other postings elsewhere saying their system failed / needed replacement under warranty. 6) lack of tie-down points at the very front of the car (which is recommended to increase stability for safe transport of longer items) 7) when I have a kayak up on the rack, it is not possible to open the boot door fully and I have to crouch down and reach up and into the boot to retrieve items. This would be kind of OK if the door was a manual, but in buying the Outback Premium version because of some of the other items I wanted, it turned out that you HAD to have the electrically-operated door - which then becomes a pain to set so it doesn't bump into the bottom of the kayak and then automatically close again. In short - looks nice and sleek, but entirely IMPRACTICAL and I am sad to say that after years of proud Subaru driving I no longer recommend them. What's needed to amend this situation?: A. For future editions of Subaru roof rack redesign - ditch the present system in favour of (perhaps) a sliding track system where the cross bars are inserted and adjustable fore and aft, are wider than the current ones, and also enabling the cross beams to be a few centimetres higher up off the roofline (enabling more space for the boot to open just enough to be useable. Plus sturdier construction. Going back to the old system would be far more preferable than what we have now! B. For current sufferers, please could Subaru design and offer (at reasonable price) a way of removing the current cross bars and replacing with (removeable) plug-in cross beams that are sturdy, wider, and sit a little higher up off the roof. It shouldn't be too hard. Or even just the plugs so we can mount something ourselves! C. Manual boot opening as an alternate option in the Premium models. Most of us in Australia buy Subaru's because of their AWD / recreational applications, NOT just for going to the supermarket.

The 2018 3.6 Touring edition in the states has a different rack system that allows modification and incorporates the Thule sliding system I believe. The Limited as shown has rope tie down areas front and rear on the interior areas of the rack. Personally, my Hobies are so big-I trailer them-no problem. I beat the roof up on my last vehicle just trying to load them on my Thule rack in the wind.
I do not care for arm rest.. just the functions of the computerized to be familiarize lol
