Give me a break, blasting her ankle? that's the worst acting I've ever seen by anybody faking an injury.. she probably figured faking an injury will get her sympathy points by the judges cuz she didn't have any more tricks to put down since she used all her grinds up in the run section.

Anyone out there, male or female, don't be scared about what other people think. there were so many activities I wanted to try out when I was younger, but I let my lack of confidence and insecurities get the better of me. It wasn’t until I reached my late teens/early twenties that I realised that if I wanted to do something I had to go out there and do it myself. Don’t ever be afraid to do the things you love, just because a career or a hobby appears to be male dominated, it doesn’t mean there aren’t any girls out there doing it. Take a sibling or a buddy with you if it makes you feel more confident, or take the chance and go alone. You will always connect with people that share the same passion as you. Don’t let your insecurities stop you in your tracks. Go out there and give it a go!

For the people complaining about the equal pay thing: This video has 30k views, men's finals have 500k (it has been up for 9 days longer though so let's check back in a week and compare numbers). Obviously this video is going to be monetized poorly in comparison. SLS will get let less money out of women's final compared to men's. I would guess ticket revenue at the venue was also lower for women's. If the prize money was a very straightforward economical decision, of course women would get paid less. Not because they skate at a lower level but because they bring less revenue. However, this equal pay mambo jambo in sports is a PR stunt and seen as an investment/gambling for the brands involved. For most sports, skate included, men's market is quite mature. Brands have a hard time acquiring new customers. The women's market, on the other hand, is almost unexplored. As a brand, If you're a first mover in getting brand awareness among this new market, you can make a big buck (provided the female skater community will grow to a size closer to men's). For you, this is lower level entertainment, but maybe for a lot of people out there, and mainly women, this is more relatable. Seeing these women doing tricks that you think "hey, I think I could do that as well" will get more women into skateboard which will make these brands a lot of money. Seeing that you can get a fat check for pulling off a couple of "achievable" tricks is a cool motivation on top of that. At the end of the day, athletes get paid in direct proportion to the money they bring/are expected to bring to the companies writing the check. There's no politics, just money.

Skaters: "Skating is not sexist, we are a big comunity where everybody can have fun" Also skaters: "Look at all those women skating worse than Men, they should be in the kitchen or somewhere else" Guys, in competitions (that require physical effort) there are different standards for woman and man and that's totally ok, if you don't wanna see it i can be ok with that, just let them skate and do whatever they want to do on the board, because skating consists in having fun. Your coments are the only bad thing in this video, because you are the reason why we haven't seen woman in skateboarding till this days, because if the only thing you can say about a woman skating is about their looks, their body or if they skate worse than man, thats very sad.

Same with women's football(soccer for you yanks), I remember laughing at the technique and skill levels, now they are actually fun to watch. It's not that women suck at skateboarding. Women just aren't men, and that should be fine. There are physical limitations to what people in general can pull off. I mean, not everyone can pop as high as Luan, for example. For the most part, women don't have the same bodies as men, so it makes sense that we don't see the same results trickwise. What doesn't make sense is judging their performances against men's performances. And I don't mean the comp judges , but the audience. We should compare them to the female skaters around them. Like, an otter can't breathe underwater, but it can probably hold it's breath pretty damn long, and they're damn good swimmers. I'm not gonna shit on the otter cuz it can't breathe underwater like a fish. It's just not built to do that. But there's probably an otter out there that can hold it's breath for 9 mins instead of the regular 8, and that's a dope otter, not a shitty fish. (Ik it's a flawed analogy, but you get the point.) Also, most of us will never bust a tre-flip in an SLS competition. Extremely stupid to sit back not doing anything but judging the people that are. Now, that being said, I do agree that watching people do regular ass 50-50 grinds is kinda boring when you got people like Nyjah busting out 270 Noseblunts. I think that's a fair assessment. Doesn't mean the women suck.

I completely agree. Idk why everyone in the comment are shitting on girls skateboarding. Why wouldn't you want to see girls be able have skateboard contests? Exactly! Not just basic 50/50 or boardslide. That noseslide 270 shove on her first run was clean AF!

Do not be fooled. The women can skate better. Problem is that the judges are piss poor and simply coddle them. Trust me. They can easily perform more difficult tricks.

If they want equal pay then the tricks gotta be as equally difficult. Otherwise we are lowering standards for women. Do women want lower standards or equality?

i agree 100% most of those tricks the women did, if done in the mens final, would be all scores under like a 4.0. Those tricks were so basic, the men wouldn't even do those for warm ups lol. The mens finals are like 10 levels above what the women are doing. I don't understand why they are so far behind the guys when it comes to trick difficulty

girls are easy money, they're desperate for any attention, being sponsored by nike means (for them) that they are equal to men... like who ever gave a shit...

@@FuhKinglet well men are naturally stronger and usually taller than women, so you gotta put that into consideration when you say "i don't understand why they are so far behind"

By that logic, we should expect women MMA fighters to go up against male MMA fighters and win. You see the flaw in your logic here? There are two different standards for males and females when it comes to physical activities. We are built differently so there is going to be different physical outcomes on average. Yet you're expecting the women to skate just as good as the men. Do you expect women to fight on the same level as men in MMA or UFC fights too? If so, you're a moron. In fact, you are a moron because you can't see this obvious flaw in your thinking.

They are all good skaters. It saddens me to see that everyone is calling this a joke, only because they want to compare it to mens skateboarding. There is a reason they are in a completely seperate league- just because they can't compete with the best male skaters in the world doesn't mean that they are bad skaters.
