    Since Georgia's last victory over Alabama in 2007, there have been two types of Georgia-Alabama football games. The first is the championship-type game where Georgia scores the first points (always a touchdown) and takes a 10-15 point lead over Alabama, only to have Alabama come back late in the game and win. The other is the regular-season-type game where Alabama runs over Georgia. As a Georgia fan, I knew the comeback would happen. Part of being a Georgia fan is expecting this sort of heartbreak when playing Alabama.

    You can easily see how Tua's ankle affected his throws. He release became much slower as he couldnt push off with his feet and tried to compensate with upper body lean and rotation. His timing was off 5 minutes into the game. Plus, he couldn't stop well at the bottom of his dropback.

    I was on a plane the day of this game flying home and missed it but after seeing most of the game it looked like Georgia was clearly winning. Here is the lesson for Georgia, the Atlanta Falcons and anyone else playing Bama or the NE Patriots: Even if you have a good lead you better score at least 2 4th quarter touchdowns or you are probably going to get beat! Georgia needed better higher percentage pass plays in the 4th quarters to finish drives. The missed field goal didn't help either. Gotta give Bama alot of credit also for the comeback also, especially Jalen Hurts who came up big in the clutch. That will be interesting if OU and Bama play this season again. Take a cue from Clemson, they started scoring on Bama and didn't quit scoring in the Natty until the last 30 seconds! 44-16 and Clemson could have scored again! Thanks for posting this game where I missed it! It should be a good game if Georgia and Bama play again this year again in 2019. Georgia, figure out how to score at least 4 second half touchdowns!

    I wish that Alabama and Georgia played more often. Consider these games since 1985 1985: Bama 20, UGA 16 (UGA blocks punt with 50 seconds left to take 16-13 lead, and then Mike Shula hits Al Bell with seconds to play to win 20-16) 1990: UGA 17, Bama 16 (UGA rallies from 16-6 deficit in 4th to win on a John Kasay FG) 1991: Bama 10, UGA 0 1994: Bama 29, UGA 28 (Jay Barker rallies Bama from a 28-19 4th Q deficit to win. He and Eric Zeier both have incredible games) 1995: Bama 31, UGA 0 2002: UGA 27, Bama 25 (Bama rallies from 24-12 deficit in 4th, but UGA takes the game with late FG) 2003: UGA 37, Bama 23 2007: UGA 26, Bama 23 (UGA wins in OT after Bama rallies from 20-10 4th quarter deficit to send game to OT) 2008: Bama 41, UGA 30 (Black out game) 2012 SEC Championship: Bama 32, UGA 28 2015: Bama 38, UGA 10 2018 College Football Playoff (2017 Season): Bama 26, UGA 23, OT 2018 SEC Championship: Bama 35, UGA 28 8 out of 13 games were decided by 7 points or less and were 4th quarter comebacks or OT games

    Kirby Smart made one of the dumbest play calls in football history, on any level. A fake punt, not with 4th and 4 but 4th and 11? In a championship game? with Justin Fields on the field that everyone in the world knew was getting the ball? Then he justifies it by bristling: "We came here to win a football game". Not admit to the dumbass call but how dare you question it tactically? That and having a gutless "kitty" who missed a chip shot that may have sealed it. Alabama has the heart of a champion and its clear that Georgia doesn't.

    Actually if you go back and watch the film of that play... it was well designed but poorly executed by 2 players #94 & #74 on the left side of the line.. as the play started the far right receiver came across the field for a pass in which he had the db smoked... but as Fields was stepping into the line for the throw.. 94 & 74 stood there and he ran right into them also not allowing him to make that run for the first down and by the size, speed and real estate in front of them on the left he could have made a game winning run. But #74 stood there in the way and #94 not only stood there in the way he allowed the rusher from the outside to come in and make the disruptive play even worse.

    @jamar reid Not going to argue the point, I and a lot of Bama fans think that the team lost their way as players, believing they were totally invincible, even after the near miss with UGA, and coaches being distracted and thinking about future appointments (Pruitt, Locksley) when they should have stuck to The Process and finished. The upshot is this year, Tua seems like a much more focused QB, much more complete. Now, does Bama have the D to win it all this year? I don't know. But one thing I do know is, if they gel, along with the receiving corps that Bama already has, if the Tide do make it to January then they *won't* lose 44-16. At least that's my hope. Go easy, Buckeye fan; we just might meet up again in December!

  • @thedungeondelver

    @thedungeondelver

    4 жыл бұрын

    @jamar reid Well, thanks! :) And to you. Now, I will say this: they could drop one but if they do it'll be to LSU or Auburn, and I wouldn't bet the farm on LSU. Ed Orgeron talks (I'm assuming he can talk) a good game but the fact is his defense is shit, and his Offense is kinda one-dimensional right now. Bama's defense is firming (sloooowly) but it's getting there, the run game *I* think is being held back as a secret weapon, and Tua is the king of College Quarterbacking. Well, he's challenging for the title, I think it's a toss-up between him and Jalen. Trevor Lawrence has fizzled out, two struggle wins for Clemson; he's got what, 7 or 8 TDs on the year and 5 interceptions now? So that's where I'm at. We'll revisit my post in a couple months, see if I was right or wrong :D

    To beat Alabama , uga needs to jump on them early and then keep calling aggressive plays offensively. I love Georgia but I am smart enough to be grateful for Alabama. If not for bama, my dawgs wouldn't be the team we have become over last few seasons. Every year we getting better and better. Its a blessing to play Alabama so we can see what it takes to be GREAT. ALL THAT TRASH TALKING MEANS SHIT. ANYBODY WITH FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE KNOWS UGA IS 10X THE TEAM WE WAS IN RICHT ERA. KIRBY IS AWESOME FUCKING COACH. LEARNED FROM THE MAN HIMSELF.

    I've heard some UGA fans really bash Kirby Smart after this game. I thought the fake punt was terrible, but Kirby Smart has done a phenomenal job with Georgia. In fact, I would love Bama to go after Smart aggressively when Saban retires. I think he's that good! Smart will have an incredible career at UGA if fans will stay behind him.

LSU just lost a huge amount of their graduating team, so don’t be so hopeful with your pathetic handful of national championships! You guys have always played second fiddle to us, actually 3rd fiddle, and you have always come up short in history of the rivalry.Roll Tide Roll!🐘 By the way, how many times has LSU beaten Alabama in death Valley during the last 12 years?
