Спорт

Preston Championships is held once a year and is open to anyone who plays within the Preston League. The event is held in the main sports hall of the St Augustine's Sports Complex which is also part of Cardinal Newman College, Preston. Spectators are welcome at this event.
Our handicap event is setup to allow every player, irrespective of age and ability, to compete on a level playing field. Each player is given a handicap based on their win rate and the division they play in. The difference between two players handicaps will be the starting point for the game. For example if one player has a handicap o +6 and another +2, the match will start with the score 4:0 in favour of the person with the highest handicap. Games are played to 21, no setting. Best of 3 games. As both players here had the same handicap, the match started at 0:0.
Dean Walmsley has been playing table tennis in Preston since a child and came through our coaching system. Dean has played in our Premier Division for many years now with Astra A. He is a top spin attack player with a win ratio of 63% and a league ranking of 33.
Brian Oldfield is another player how has played for many years in Preston. Brian has a skiddy forehand and spinney backhand and his style makes him awkward to play. Brian plays for Deepdale A in our Premier Division and has a current win rate of 61% and league ranking of 17. Brian consistently reaches the knockout stages of our events, would 2018 prove to be a "break through" year for him? Brian also plays in the Blackpool Table Tennis league.
