You don’t have to turn the PSM to Sport Mode. Just hold the brake, smash the accelerator & release the brake when Launch Control Activated message comes up.

I don't know if it's different for right hand drive cars but in the US you don't have to change the traction control setting (you can leave it in normal) to do a Launch Control start. Just Sport Plus mode, foot hard on brake pedal until "Hold" appears and then floor the gas and let foot off of brake. Source: I have a 718 Cayman base.

Matthew Gaither i have a bade boxster with sport exhaust but no chrono pack. i launch it by turning off psm off completely, i just hold down the button for 3 seconds to make sure. The put the gearbox in manual, and hold the break, floor the gas completely and hold it for 2.5-3 seconds, and release the break and i fly to the moon in 4.7 seconds. I wonder if building the revs is the correct way to launch, or to do it my way

Why didn't they put a de-tuned base 911 3.0 engine in it!

I'd ask the same question. I'm guessing that they are using the new 718 line for research and development in the 4 cylinder arena

Because nobody would buy the 911 if they did. The cayman with the 2.5 is already faster and more agile than the 911, and 2/3 the cost.

The logistics of putting such a larger engine in the car just to decrease the power would not give optimum performance results. There needs to be weight balancing and allocation of parts.
