I don't care if it was cocky or not. It's just really nice to see somebody doing a little talking on the lane. It's bringing a little life to the telecasts again!
It is nice to be able to watch this on the actual pba channel first instead of another.
"Jesper Svenson. Two sides, left hand". 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
5:31 Wow!!! Old school humble-pie! Refreshing to hear Matt say that it is a pleasure to be at Riviera. Everyone has a mic, why not say something :)
After reading through the comments, I feel compelled to share my experience of having been around the bowlers and everyone else involved in this event. I was there all week bartending and I initially expected some of the "arrogance" that others talk about, but I was pleasantly surprised at how very down to earth and approachable everyone was. We had legends (such as John Petraglia-a real gentelman, and Pete Weber) of this sport going out of their way to thank and to show appreciation to not just me, but to other employees and volunteers. I worked long hours but had an awesome experience! I do hope they continue to have the Tournament of Champions at Riviera Lanes! I also wanted to share a neat little side note-during the last match, I had given a customer change and one of the bills (unbeknownst to me at the time) had the word "grady" written on it. Shortly after that transaction, O'Grady won ( the customer came back to me to show me the lucky bill that seemed to predict the winner-that he then had autographed ). I guess it's true what they say- money doesn't lie!

Here's the thing about O'Grady. Back in this time period, he was a stuck-up, selfish jerk. I don't know much about his attitude now, and I do know that he's a good bowler, but being great at something doesn't make it okay to be an asshole.
I want to watch a title match between O'Grady vs Daugherty. Would be an actual fun match to watch with personality.
One heck of a tournament! Congrats to the winner. I just barely found out about PBA and these tournaments days ago but watching these has been super cool and entertaining.
Man is Grady passionate. Great bowler and great person. Super excited to see what else he’s gonna do this season.

@@sulemagutierrez working a full time job in a pro shop, now currently a rep for Dexter. He bowls part time on tour... Love Belmo to death, but not everyone has the red carpet rolled out to them early on in their career because of a gimmick technique (at the time, not currently) that turns into one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the PBA.
The only thing better than watching this would be if Nelson Burton Jr. could have done some color. Great broadcast PBA, and ESPN!!!
Always remember Johnny Petraglia winning the Springfield, VA stop in 1972 when he averaged 233 to qualify, including a 300 en route. I was 16 and hung out at the lanes to watch the entire tournament. 233 average in 1972 was monstrous given the conditions and equipment. JP was incredible.
I can't believe people are complaining that the audio is literally less than a half second behind. It's still perfectly enjoyable. If you hate it that much, set your DVR to record it next time.

Robo Cop can’t agree with you on that one. A nine time major winner doesn’t worry about what his opponent does, they worry about what they do. If anything, he missed the spare because he missed left on the first ball.
@robocop8488

stryx247 Then why do Belmo often miss after his opponent misses? Ive seen him done that on several occasions. I think it may be because he loosens up and loses focus sometimes when he sees opponents get open frames. It doesnt matter if you disagree. I have stated my opinion so thats that.

Shame to see lots of O'Grady bashing here. He made good shots all day under a lot of pressure and I didn't hear him say anything that would have upset a maiden aunt, let alone a tough pair of pros like Belmo and Jesper. Well done, not an easy pair by any means. He got the breaks, notably the Belmo chop of course, but hey, Belmo would be the first to say, "I made a crappy shot there which left a choppable spare". I bet he has already resolved to throw a back up at that one for the rest of his career!

RE: Hard work vs talent... Not really. Work on your game all you want, you're not going to ever beat an NBA player 1 on 1. Not with 20 years of working on your game. Same for Chess grand masters, etc. Bowling is one of the few sports/games where lower skilled players can win semi-regularly due to variance. It's a single game format in the stepladder finals. Bowling scores are mathematically constrained (e.g. only 12 frames rather than a timed game like basketball or recorded outs like in baseball or cricket). On the plus side, it makes the telecasts less predictable. I can't imagine watching a college football game like Alabama or USC vs some random "schedule filler" school, who you know they will beat by damn near 80, is fun.
Man Matt O’Grady is just an absolutely amazing person, and bowler, how can you not cheer for this guy, the talent is real.

Who Is Ready For The 2019 PBA Tournament Of Champions With Jason Belmonte As The #1 Seed. Only On FOX Sports At 4:30PM ET.
I grew up bowling juniors vs guys like Corey Husted, Cameron Weir and Dean Richards in the PNW, and yea I could avg 200 at a young age but I couldn't compete with the elite juniors. However, I used to get this bowl.com junior magazine every now and then and inside it would show how many 300's were shot state-by-state by juniors for a portion of the year and id always see guys like Matt O'Grady and John Szczerbinski with multiple 300's. I didn't shoot my first till I was 17, on July 06'. Im 29 now and O'Grady is 31. Im pulling for him. The junior scene in the early 2000's was bringing high caliber players along.
Everyone hating on O'grady, you got to realize the guy laughs through life and doesn't take anything too seriously. He has always been like this even since juniors, he is just bringing a little bit of light and comedy to an otherwise overly serious world.
Never would of expected that! What a tourney

No. I say that by what we saw. The last two matches were quite hard to watch. Lots of bad shots that had nothing to do with the pattern. Belmonte was the only one that was really consistent, and thus would have easily won the tournament if not for the spare he missed.
@Osborne4Life
6 жыл бұрын
I'm actually not a big Belmo fan. I'm just saying that he would have easily won the tournament since Anderson and Svensson had no idea what to do and were throwing bad shots. Belmonte would have easily beaten them, but that unfortunate chop spare cost him the chance for an easy major title. I appreciate the defense, though.
@Fejix87

Considering how much the urethane that Anderson threw messed with the outside of the lane, there's not guarantee that it wouldn't have made Belmo develop over/under reaction. Never know what'll happen until it plays out. Belmonte is prone to making plenty of mental mistakes himself in pressure situations.
@seymourbutts5277

I think Belmo had a good look, so with the way Jesper looked in the final if Belmo was fortunate enough to get there ya, I think He wins Major # 10. That being said, I don't think the chop is going to "haunt him forever". Guy's 9 Majors deep, he's failed before. It's not a big deal, get back up and get the next one. It would only haunt him if he's a guy that doesn't get to those situations often.
why a tight thumb hole? I thought the thumb exited the ball first, making it necessary to have a *loose* thumb hole.
That was a backhanded comment towards Belmo. would have liked to see Svensen get it. oh well.
Sending my congratulations wishes to Matt O'Grady on his first PBA title and major championship! Great bowling, Matt!
Congrats to O’ Grady that he won but... “Hardwork beats talent every time baby”. That’s just ridiculous, the other pros are more hardworking than him after he won the TOC.

People are saying Jason should have won and the messenger should have hit the 10 pin but it didn't hit it and he didn't win. People saying "it should have hit" "he should have won" shouldn't be saying that because if the pin should have hit it would have and id like one of these people to elaborate on why it "should have hit".
Yo anybody catch that tinder reference that Randy made at 37:47? 😂😂

EVERYONE works hard to be out there no one is less no one is more everyone is fighting for the same thing.
