Great video really enjoyed watching. Amazing koi Don't know how they choose. Seems like kuhaku win alot of shows. Maybe the have better genes for filling out and growth?

Kohaku are beautiful, what's not to love about a 30+ inch long 5 step kohaku. It's simple and elegant.

Does anyone know what kind of koi is the gray, black, dark brown, and light brown at the beginning of the video at 1:01? An ochiba? I've never seen one like it. I have a little five inch black and brown koi, no idea what it is either.

Hi Linda, it is a Ochiba but probably combined with another variety. I need to ask it because I am not sure. But, the breeder and owner is Maruhiro, he tried to get the most Unique price on the show I guess...

Awesome to see the fish. But an equal reward was to get a better understanding of how they run their koi shows. Haven't seen too many other videos that shows this. Thanks for that effort!... And are you sure I can find John Lentiz of FB?

Hello Theodore, it is all about honor. In the end it is good for a breeder to became Grand Champion, people want to buy fish from a breeder who won prizes instead of one who hasnt...

I would say that you don't have the money to buy the champion (you not as in yourself but generally speaking) that is a fish for breeding, trying to preserve the genes. Don't know to much about it tho, just speaking in general.
