I actually like the snot green paint. It's different when most all new cars come in the same colors. New car manufacturers think that black, three shades of grey, and white is a "choice" of colors. It really isn't.

I can answer who might buy one of these. Me - though for 60k and in mountain gray metallic with all of the performance packages. I'd driven a 275 hp, 300 ft pd WRX for ten years up to 175k miles and was looking to move on, and up. Thought I was going to get a sedan but turns out that I love the practicality of hatches. I live in the North East so the two wheel drive performance cars suggested in the review are not practical for a daily driver, besides, I have a 95 supercharged track prepped Miata that allows me to enjoy rear wheel drive and standard shift. But, back to the GLA45; this is not just an AMG badged car. The motor is hand built by AMG, as with the V8s. I'm astonished that the review did not mention the brakes, which are outstanding. The mono tube shocks are likewise outstanding. But what sold me on the car, in addition to getting a car that I wasn't going to be tempted to modify, as I'd done extensively with the WRX, is the freaking sound, lol. It's awesome. As for the price, 60 K was A LOT. But I plan to own the car for ten years (and bought the extended warranty) so it will amortize over time. Meanwhile, any trip in this car is a joy. And that's what I paid for.

Exactly. This car has been nothing but great. It's like the AMG Swiss Army knife lol the engine has decent fuel mileage and range, and also enough power to keep up with the big boys in the autobahn. Offers good storage space, while compact enough to fit tiny parking spots and crowded European streets. I bought a set of lowering springs and sway bars for it but I wan't to take it to Nuerburgring first to get a feel of the stock suspension. Exhaust sounds awesome as it is but I think I'll add a RENNtech downpipe to get a bit more out of the engine.

Guys I’m so with you all. I've just bought a 2018 model and my only other option was an Audi S4 Estate in the same year. Whatever life you lead you need to take stuff to the dump/trash/garbage (pick your Continent 🤓). Like someone said "the Swiss Army knife of cars"

For the people that are complaining about the price, just buy one that is used for 35-40k.

God bless car reviewers: they get to spout a viewpoint after, at most, a day’s drive. And as much as they try they can’t help but put their total background and inherent (and quite possibly their hidden) prejudices into the review. Simply put: It’s well built, supremely comfortable for two (my own prejudices creeping in there...), goes likes a rocket when required! Wears slippers when required, takes the paraphernalia of life down to the tip/dump when required. And isn’t run of the mill. I know I could have bought quash quail [That's Apple spell checks cheek not mine - I truly don’t know how to spell the name of Nissan's finest] but life has choices. I'm deliriously happy with mine.

After sitting in this car at the dealership I completely disagree about it being tight. At 5’10” with the driver seat at my right position I was able to sit in the back without my knees even touching the back of the seat. I’ll be skipping on relying on these reviews.

Without going crazy on options it's low 60s...not 70s.. That's 20k more than a golf R.. With 180more hp.. And Mercedes build and an extra year of warranty.. Huge brakes.. Great safety.. And a free $1900 track day (drive all the amgs with pro drivers) with amg academy.. Its a hatchback, that does 0-60 in 4 secs, all wheel and gets 30 plus on the hwy.. It does everything

You didn't mention that there are the base seats which are not as "aggressive" as the optional Recaro AMG Performance seats, which are equipped in this particular car. So, people with a wider torso have another available seat that could accommodate them.

I don’t know who buys these tiny GLA45’s as brand new vehicle. Yes it’s fast. But $71k for a front wheel drive based hatchback makes no since to me. This comment coming from the owner of a C63 AMG which also is insensible car to own. But at least it’s RWD and has the V8 of a supercar.

Quaid McIver question for you, as an AMG owner, do you consider the lesser AMG 6 cylinders to be real AMGs? I have a problem with those 43

Blake Swan regarding your question, initially I was a lil confused to what AMG and Mercedes collaboration was becoming. But now now it’s clear that Mercedes understands that AMG is a well known brand name in the car world and the more badges they can slap on vehicles that aren’t made in the way AMG where intended equals more cars sales for the company without increasing production of the unique one man one engine hand built philosophy that once attracted many buyers. The 43’s and 53’s and 45’s are all fine performance vehicles. They will sell and people will buy thinking they own a true AMG product. Doesn’t matter what I think, as I’m in the small minority of owners stuck in the past on big brute Germany powertrains that are hand built. AMG is truly diluted, but that doesn’t bother me.

Quaid McIver hey I'm a fan of your likes. I could never afford an AMG so my opinion is mute but always though a hand built V8 is what made an AMG. Cheers

They also hand-build V-12's...I think the over-arching theme is executive luxury sledgehammer. The fact that this car uses a turbo 4 with the highest specific power per liter currently is pretty special enough. True, it ain't a V-8 Darth Vader sedan.

Engine is running 26-27 psi stock. Wouldn't be confident in the long term reliability of the engine. And forget about tuning the engine, you're just asking for an engine replacement if you time this engine for even higher psi.

I actually like the color, but would look a lot better on a $45k car, as opposed to $70k! A BMW M2 has fewer doors, no hatch, but has more practicality and better looks.
