Hi Stavros love the Vids had a 2012 Merc Actros a few years ago the gear box was terrible which was a shame as otherwise she was a great truck

nice video. the locker has a single door on that specific cab i guess, because we got some new actros 2545 bigspace and they have 3 separate locker doors

That little control panel, steering wheel and display is almost exact to what's on a freightliner here in the us

Can you make a video on the powerful engine from Mercedes

I drive a 2018 Actros 2653 and i like it. The only issue i have with the truck is the engine brake. It sometimes doesn't come on with full power/at all when i pull the handle. Can be a bit terrifying on steep downhills.. I damn near shat myself when the thing was hauling ass at 100+ kmh and i had no idea of this issue. For a second i thought i had lost my transmission..

Would be really nice if you could do a review of the old volvo fh or a volvo fL

What generation is this? When was it launched? It was only launched here in South Africa, last year in April>

I drove a antos for about a year. I was a comfy ride, but.... Crap gearbox (18t 270hp very under powered) shit mirror boxes og it was so noisy when drivning. The one i drove was a 10.3m 18 pallets used for inner city drivning in a larger european city, it was so bad when the gearbox kinda stalled when you took off. It was so Hard to see cyclists with those big boxes on the sides. But it manuvers very good actually. But im glad to be back in a volvo fm 370 again. Loved the 400 hp scania i had but it had tough manuvers in small streets. Love you work. Thanks

18t with 270 hp - underpowered? I'd call that a 'pocket rocket!' Good grief, I drove a 16T Leyland Freighter for 6 years and that was 130hp with no turbo and just six speeds! Mind you, on some hills you could get out and walk alongside it. Even my Volvo F7 6 wheeler had 235 hp and that was running at 24T Gvw. How times, and expectations, have changed..

My dad drives the same truck with 450 hp but without the skirts and wind deflector

Yup engine, transmission. Sounds EXACTLY! Like a newer Cascadia or Western Start. It also shares the same door panels/switches and a the steering wheel is the same just a bunch of shared details between our countries trucks. (All is owned by Daimler of course) But the OM straight six diesel are just the European version of the Detroit Diesels, that's really the only thing of the Actros I like, can't say I am a fan otherwise. It's not a terrible looking truck though.

Do an softwareupdate for the gearbox,or the trick is to put the enginebrakelever in the first position when you come at a roundabout,9/10 it's gonna be in the right gear to accelerate again.

Thats a fantastic mpg pity merc wont adress the sluggish engine and gbox issues.

Could you please make an episode where you discuss why certain brands are preferred over others? Is there a reason why we usually see Volvos, MANs and Scanias, instead of Mercs? Is it just the price? Are there some issues with the tech., or service availability? Mercedes has (allegedly) a huge share of the market............ but where are all those trucks? I rarely see Mercs. Is that a thing, or is it only some kind of "illusion"?

we have a similar gearbox in coaches .Its called an As-tronic and is an awful box for hesitating . Mercedes Coaches have a powershift gerarbox its an 8 speed and is bad for hesitating as well...give me either a manual box or a full ZF push button auto

The Scania is the best.If i did drive and was a Trucker i would pick the Scania to drive👍😊❤

Nice video this is my1st comment on one of your videos.I had to make a comment.We only have mercs and I thought the old actros gearbox was cr#p but the new model use a fully automatic box and it's sooo bad.All our drivers moan how cr#p they are.We all seem to get stuck in 7th at r/abouts and they won't change down.You only jumped in for brief drive but you picked all the faults with the truck mattress to thin the old axor had a real mattress not foam and the steering wheel plastic is horrible to hold.Also why Merc made the steering heavier on the new model compared to the old.We have a range t on hire as a truck it's so much better just Renault over complicate the cruise control so many bloody buttons.I think Merc needs to make big changes on new model harder wearing trim inside our steering wheel buttons already broken and them camera mirrors I wonder how good they will be reversing into a building that is dark??and the screen looks like it will get knocked getting in and out it's so close to the grab handles.great video Stavros👍👍

one thing i cant get over is the location of that battery. to me it seems to be in a poor location. new one no physical mirrors? what about when and if the cameras cease functioning. youre effectively blind.

I think that if they stop functioning, it must be because something hit them which would obviously break a mirror too. But the lens getting dirty or wet must be the real problem

the 45 is the engine power. In this case,450 hp.18 stands for 18 tons chassis iirc.

Has a night driver, who drivers at night and in the rain.... the cameras we have in the blind spots and at the back are shit! U can see more in the mirror at night and when it rains the cameras are pointless.

Absolutely. Cameras/screens are dangerous garbage. I've refused to use them and of course this is transport so now I'm experiencing "consequences". But trust me...they picked the wrong one to bully over H&S !

ico9750 it’s mainly for comfort and ergonomics. It’s much easier to live in a truck with a flat foot that you can walk around in than it is to be constantly reaching yourself over a hump. It also opens up much more room for storage beneath the beds inside the cab like drawers and fridges

Why are the European and American trucks so different?

Europeans need trucks that can do crazy maneuvers beacause of our roads, American roads are wide and straight. A European truck works great in America, an American truck in Europe not so much.
