It's not her pipes - though those are impressive as hell - it's the emotional power and stage presence to match the power of her voice. That's what makes her a cut above the rest. I can tell she's young and she's sick, but I can also tell she's got that thing you can't teach: the powerhouse presence. She OWNS that stage.

Anyone know what year this song is set in?

Obviously, she was very nervous. Her breathing was all over the place. She even was out of rhythm beginning of the second verse (nice save by the pianist!) What rescued her is her tone and timbre and how she mixes the higher „ALL“. And of course, that she went for the high note at the end (not too clean, but she did).
