It's easy to find the location of that switch in the 2018 Accord owners manual. pretty sure they give you a page number in the glossary or index.

This helped so much. It worked great. I think you need to use a different title. It took about 7 other you tube searches on this topic to find one that showed where shifter release was on my 2019 Honda accord. You should use something like "stuck shift lever release on 2019 Honda accord"

Reminds me of the operation that I used to have to do on my 92 Acura Integra when I couldn't get the ignition key to come out and the automatic transmission would not shift out of park. There was a somewhat more accessible slot in the console next to the shifter. That operation did NOT always work. In which case you could not leave the car and you could start it, but you could not select any gear....still stuck in PARK.

  • @HondaJon

That stinks. I know. I’m used to seeing a covered slot next to the shifter and wondered why all of a sudden it’s gone.

They put it there because in the old model people use get dirt in them causing the switch to get dirty it should be in your owners manual under towing, also a neat trick is hold the unlock button on the remote to lower the windows outside the car and sometimes even opens sunroof if you hold the lock it will closed it

Now find the shift interlock location for me in a 2019 Pilot with the 9 speed transmission lol. It's in the cup holder area btw but anywho..... It's not really hidden or a secret, it's covered in your owners manual and all vehicles with an auto trans have to have some kind of interlock for moving the car if it can't power itself. Sorry for rambling, I'm a Honda tech and I'm bored lol.

I think Apple CarPlay is worthless at best, and a real annoyance most of the time. The only convenience it adds (for me) is to display google maps or Spotify on the LCD...but...by doing this, it makes entering in destinations, etc., and browsing through playlists significantly harder and more cumbersome. I normally unplug my phone to put in a location or find a playlist, then plug it back in-that’s how worthless I find Apple CarPlay. It also requires your phone to be plugged into a lightening cable, which is a further hassle. Bluetooth sync for music is way better, and simply get a phone mount that puts your phone into your line of sight for maps and music. The absolute best solution would be a new iPad Mini 5 with cellular. Just suction cup that fkn thing to the old LCD screen (or to the side). You’d instantly have a far more responsive and elegant solution for maps and music. I can’t stand in-car navigation systems from almost every brand. They are crap compared to an iPhone or iPad.
