2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 First Test Review: bit.ly/YZF-R6-review
Yamaha’s YZF-R6 was ahead of its time when released for the 2008 model year. So much so that it went nine years in the same clothes. Not anymore - feast your eyes on the Tuning Fork brand's new and most certainly improved YZF-R6... Read the written review via the above link.

Fantastic review. You guys covered everything from the power and handling all the way down to the seat material. Very informative. I purchased a 636 zx6r but I definitely would have been happy with this r6 or the triumph 675 as well. They all seem like really incredible machines.

I've been watching since the Moto USA days (Ninja 250R review specifically); so, a continuation of the crazy riding and sincere commentary that I have come to expect from you. Having this many GoPro's running was also great, because it really gave a sense of what the bike is capable of.

Great good to know. Yeah, the more GoPros the better. That new Hero 5 Session is so small, and so easy to use that it's pretty easy to run multiple cameras while riding these days. Thanks for watching.

Hey Adam. So you were there for this event eh? Awesome. Jensen seemed to like this thing too. I trust you mercilessly harassed him while yo were there?!? LOL!! The facility is looking great, dude. Can't ask for much more. Big time props to Yamaha for committing to this model. The bike has already won on the world stage (World Supersport in Aragon over the weekend) and will continue to win wherever it goes. This had to be fun!

Hi Dennis - that's correct. Good ol' Jensen and I -- emphasis on the ol', lol. Yeah, it was fun for sure. I haven't had that much fun riding a bike in quite some time. It's nice going to a circuit that you enjoy on a category/class/type of motorcycle you like too. The Bridgestone Battlax R-10s are familiar too, so all in all, it was fun. Really surprised how well those tires performed in the cool conditions. Those tires love heat so it was interesting to experience how versatile their operating range is.

Brandon Turton did u get it yet? Hope it goes well, just kinda worried since many claim it's the worst bike to learn on only cuz it has such a power band (meaning power out of nowhere that for a new rider can be tough). At least now it is sooo much easier with rider modes for newer riders. When I first got into biking I started on a smaller bikes (cuz of funds not choice really as I was fifteen at the time) but the other people I knew were largely on bigger bikes starting out, but over half of them wrecked and no longer ride. I always worry a fast first bike will chase away a new rider from riding throughout their life. I am still riding 22 years later while they don't

do frame sliders mess with the leaning or can you do a max lean with them on

  • @AdamWaheed

Frame sliders protect the motorcycle-- specifically the bodywork and main frame, to a certain degree, from damage in a tip over or crash. You can still lean the bike over to your heart's content with them fitted.

Yeah if you are straight commuting on the road, it's hard to beat a GSX-R600. Pickup a used one and save a bunch of money for mods like a taller windscreen and more squishy seat.

  • @hoveball

Adam Waheed thanks for the advice, only plans for mods were a fender eliminator and a shortened exhaust although do plan to upgrade tires as soon as possible. Found a few used in the color scheme I was looking at so will most likely go for a used GSXR 600. Keep up the great reviews though.

I rode it at COTA last weekend and I really liked it. I personally thought it was way better than the new Fireblade. Strangely enough, the R6 felt like it was a Honda and the Honda felt like it was a Kawasaki or something. The Yamaha was so refined, so smooth, so predictable, and a ton of fun. I dig it a lot! Was not a fan of the new SP2 Fireblade though. Maybe it was the rain-mode they put us in, but from the throttle response to the brakes to the suspension, it just didn't feel right. Brakes have the strangest feeling..as if they're linked or something. I went around touching all the SP2 brake levers and they're all the same. The regular SP1 feels okay though.

it's funny cause I was expecting Adam of all ppl to have uncovered more negatives about this bike. I guess what everyone needs to come to terms with is that you're either 600cc class kinda guy or a 1000cc class kinda guy. To achieve the best in either class has gotten to a similar point in terms of cost. I really love this new R6 especially when you consider you can actually option the ecu flash and acrapovic exhaust and have the engine response improvements to compliment the new looks and improved handling.

The only true fact I seen this review that didn’t come across like Yamaha said “ mention this “ is the nibble and light front end comments. Dona real review with honesty and cut out all this US hype sponsor love people will appreciate the review more and it will gain more interest than 44k reviews. It’s a great bike , it not or nothing like a leader bike and it opens up nice on the top Rev range. Simple

I like the new R6 but... It's not that light. It's really underpowered with the stock Euro emissions crap on it. And the praise about mid range is a bit misleading since there really isn't much of that. Not much at all. A full exhaust system and ecu reflash change things a lot and then it is the bike this review says it is. But that's another 2000$ and then it's not road legal. If that matters is up to your wallet and how strict local police are. Bike has a lot of potential and as said before I like it, but this review was more of a sales pitch than a review.
