    This car sold and still sells well in many countries outside of North America. Many here think cheap SUVs are the solution to all their problems but they are terribly wrong. I hope to see it back again in the future, my 2015 Touring lasted >150K miles without a single issue and was very fuel efficient, got close to 33 mpg combined which was amazing for its time.

    What a great car! I don’t know about in the U.S. but in Canada we got the top of the line GT model with the manual transmission for a little while. (GT being derived from Grand Touring obviously)

    Mazda recently announced that they plan to move upmarket. There's been speculation for a few years that they're going to come out with a new 6 with an inline 6 and RWD. There's still a market for premium sedans, Genesis is doing quite well. When Ford and GM discontinued their sedans the Koreans and Japanese picked up those sales. If gas prices stay high I can see sedans making a comeback.

    I find it very sad that we're just getting more and more suvs, and less cars, I for one think suvs are absolutely boring to look at, but I think there's still hope, with electric vehicles coming around people might want smaller lighter cars, and that might bring back cars a bit more

    Great cars! I test drove a 2017 Touring a few years back & it had a nice ride & handling balance with good power. The interior was the best in class even compared with the newest interiors in todays competitors & is almost as nice as my current 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport. Great that it eventually offered a turbo, but I really wished it offered a V6.

    FYI the Mazda 6 is only discontinued in America and Canada, it's still been sold in other countries around the world, also AWD was available for this car in Japan and parts of Europe but North America never got that option.

    Had a 2009 6 that i enjoyed, and now have a 2016 Grand Touring. Nice cars! Ride a bit rough for a sedan, and a bit more power would be nice. The AV display screen also melts in hot weather areas. Heated back seats should be standard in the GT.

    I'm starting to think the sedan will make a comeback in about 5 to 7 years...perhaps the hipsters will pull them back from the brink like they did for Pabst Blue Ribbon. Sedans are lighter and cheaper than SUVs. Sedans handle better than these top heavy SUVs, though crossovers are doing a better and better job and not feeling top-heavy like an 80's Ford Explorer. If fact, don't call it a comeback...they've been here for years!

    I don't think there is any shot Mazda discontinues the 3 without a replacement lined up. Especially since Mazda is positioned as a middle ground option between budget and 'true premium'. Being unable to deliver a sedan (regardless of how well they perform in the moment) would mean that you lose a big opportunity in future markets who will forget Mazda even made sedans, much less that they made arguably the best sedan in its price range. As EVs penetrate the market I think Sedans will make a big comeback as well, electric SUVs are and likely will continue to be a struggle for a while yet.

  • @davinp
    @davinp2 жыл бұрын

    That's disappointing that Mazda has decided to discontinue this sedan. Though sedan sales are slow, Toyota & Honda have no plans to discontinue making their sedans.

    Mazda offered Apple Car Play and Android Auto before Toyota did. Toyota refused to support Android Auto until 2019 and won't update the infotainment system their older models cars. I think Toyota's Entune system sucks. Mazda did offer an upgrade to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in 2014-2018 models..

    I'm not them people they want SUV crossovers. The ride height is too high and it's unsafe if an accident occurs because of the higher center of gravity. If I want a suv, I get a bigger version like a Chevy Tahoe Suburban and Ford Expedition. I think SUV crossovers a front wheel drive fake SUV appliances that people don't care about. That's how I feel. I rather have a four-door sedan or a coupe before I buy one of them.

    Mazda did not kill the 6, the market and car buyers did by either choosing $50,000 SUV’s or $30,000 rusted 30 year old shitboxes over it. Doesn’t help the fact that tough competition the V6 Toyota Camry TRD and 2.0T Honda Accord perform better in most aspects. 8% annual inflation is also absurd when hourly wages barely raise 2% a year

In Europe is a rummor that they are working on a 2022 Mazda 6 3.0 e-SkyActiv-X in-line 6 engine with Rear Wheel Drive, Torque Convertor Automatic Transmission and Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive Plug-In System, and you tell us that they are going to discontinue the Mazda 6?! Maybe in USA? I can’t believe that. It’s theirs top of the line sedan… It’s going to be the bigger version of the awesome 2019 Mazda 3 sedan..

    The leather from the steering wheel is not plastik at all. The one you tested is just greasy. The owner doesn't seem to take care of the interior leather too much. Both the steering wheel and seats shouldn't have this glossy look, but matte. He just need to clean them up with some leather cleaners and treatments.

    Despite the market switching to SUV/crossover, the midsize sedan segment is still competitive and over saturated by many models, For example the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord will both continue in the midsize segment since they still sell tons of them, trailing behind is the Nissan Altima, Mazda 6 never sold to the levels of the other models thus Mazda cutting off their models like these is a marking choice, Ford knew as well that the Fusion wasn’t selling too well so it did the same thing

    Ford sold 166,000 Fusions in 2019 and well over 100,000 in 2020, it's last year and of course, 2020 was a strange year. That's a lot of cars. Hopefully a new 6 will be around at some point.

    @@FoodTechLife I had a Camry. It couldn't leave the driveway without backing up. It would damage the front bumper if I tried to. Look at all the damage sedans in parking lots have around the front. I was with a group of friends once and trying to get to the beach in a 2020 Corolla. All these crossovers and trucks easily got to the beach. But the Corolla went over one rock and slammed into the ground hard many times. I live in the Appalachian foothills. Many roads will sharply decline to another road. And you will damage your car no matter what angle you try to approach from. Sedans, hatches, wagons are just very low and easy to damage. Sure you can be careful and you might not have a situation like that all the time. But when you do, you really want higher ground clearance.
