2017 KTM 250SXF Top End Rebuild

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In Today's video, I will be replacing the top end on a 2017 250SXF. This process is fairly similar to other year models, (2013-2019). Enjoy!

Just rebuilt my '15 FC 350 and was similar to this. Had to take the engine completely out being the main difference. Slight chatter at first which I believe was due to the cam chain tensioner getting charged with oil.

As well as the timing gear I think it would be important to show how the hydrolic ratchet type timing chain tenchener works as its not something most people can figure out without being shown , its just 1 of those things.

Is there a reason you replaced the cam chain, or was it just because you were that far into the motor? Also did you replace the spark plug? Great video by the way. Going to attempt this job this next week.

Im looking at a 2017 KTM 250sxf factory edition. The bike has 77hrs and the top end was done at 50hrs. The owner is a serious moto cross guy and was using the bike for indoor tracks. Im hoping someone can tell me if this might be a good buy or avoid since the bike has been used I am assuming pretty hard.

How did you do the cam chain? Did it have a split link in it?

  • @FASTRIDERMX

I used a cam chain tool to press out a pin, then pressed the new chain together with a normal link. Make sure to round the edges out on the pin so that it doesn't want to work its way out.

my huski fc 450 has just clocked over 150 hrs only oil changes every 13 hrs ..time to do a piston soon ..still going strong I've got alot of clutch chatter when it's cold or hot ..when I pull in the lever it shuts up ..been told by ktm it's normal noise

I've had a few KTM's and they all seem to make the clutch noise you're describing. My friend put a Hinson clutch in his Husky and he said it eliminated the noise. Like you said, it's supposed to be a normal KTM/Husky thing

Please don't get me wrong. But this video is so not useful. A lot of tricky things people encounter on their first top end rebuild are left out. Like some useful tips to get the exhaust out. Or how to move the top end off. All those things are kinds missing. But still thank you for the video.
