I am a GM fan and the buick lacrosse is a nice car but I have a grandfather who owns a Cadenza. We also looked at the Chevy Impala, Toyota Avalon, and even the Lexus ES350. The Cadenza had lots more features than the other 3 and just had a better fit and finish. Not to mention the $45,000 top price. Well, he bought it a year ago and I am glad to say a year later it is still an amazing car and has not given him any issues. He was coming from a 2007 Lexus LS460, and this actually has more features than that one did. The warranty is also amazing, which means they are confident in what they make. I'm not trying to bash the buick lacrosse because it is a nice car but I am saying that Kia is not what it used to be. It would be well worth your time to look at the Cadenza when in the full size sedan market.

Anyone looking at the Buick (any model Buick) should know there's almost always some type of deal available. This hurts resale but if you plan to keep it a while then it's literally just money in your pocket. Current deals range from 17 to 25% off, depending on stock/model.

Buick all the way. I have a ‘14 Regal with 50000 miles now, absolutely no issues

It is, but Cadenza is not entirely lacking.

I was very torn on choosing between these two vehicles...I was looking to buy slightly used 2018 models for each...I opted for the Lacrosse Premium...the Kia is excellent as well and I could have gotten the Cadenza for $3500 cheaper but I liked the Lacrosse better..I will say, each car serves different buyers in the luxury full sized sedan market.

Both are very nice.

The 2017 lacrosse has a 2.5 L 4 cylinder that gives 31.5 mpg combined, but not as much HP, and the 3.6 L v6 which has 300+ hp, but lower gas mileage. I dont think the kia has a fuel efficient 4 cylinder option for the daily driver who likes luxury, but prefers fuel efficiency over performance.

My 2017 will smoke that Kia,killed in action, the LGX motor is a hi-performance motor,GM de-tuned it for the Buick,still has 310 hp.ride and handling,fit and finish are top notch. This car is for adults

Kudos for having dope ass Underground Boom Bap Hip Hop Beats in the Background....I like the Kia though.

The GM 3.6L is all new engine, not the previous generation. So no previous "tinkering"...please do your research before a review

Both good cars but the Buick is 'more' good. I'd take the Buick based on looks, ergonomics & it is as dependable as a Lexus (per JD Powers survey for the last 4 quarters)

Tully3674 Don't take every durability report seriously, in fact if you look at consumerreports.org you'll find that Buick is so far behind lexus or kia for that matter. In terms of exterior or interior designs, I'll have to strongly disagree, kia is better, the kia's weakness is ride stability(grip) and cabin noise (although it is less bumpy so more comfortable ride with the kia). if you want a better ride quality and lower cabin noise checkout hyundai azera/grandeur.

Buick LaCrosse is the best looking American car to me. And quality is very close to German cars. Way better then KIA!!!

I have been driving KIA Cadenza's for awhile now, but a friend of mine just purchased a Buick Lacrosse. Oh my God !, this Buick is a way better built and performing car. It beats the Cadenza hands down. My next car will be a Lacrosse.

I'm a quality tech with Kia, and what sold me on the buick over the Kia and my favorite the HYUNDAI Azera, is the factory 20" wheels and AWD.

GM initially is going to always feel much more luxurious than Kia at similar price points. GM just feels smoother and more refined whereas the reality is the Kia just has a certain feeling of Korean cheapness. I think the cadenza is a fine car but it’s not going to ride like a Buick in the end

I'm not knocking the Kia, or the review, and I completely understand what Kia is trying to do with the Cadenza, but I can't see comparing a Kia to a Buick. I don't even really see the same buyers for both cars. Buick has always been a tasteful, moderately-priced car for the well to do, affluent customer that didn't quite want the bling of a Cadillac or Mercedes, but wasn't willing to step down to a Chevy or a Ford. Kia is just...well....Kia. A car built for the Everyman on a budget. I own a Buick, and I'm a GenX'er coming from BMW (yes, really). When I was doing my shopping, in all sincerity, I was seriously considering Lexus, Acura and Audi. Kia wasn't anywhere on my list.

JC6817 I agree Most people that cross shop Buicks don't look at Kia vehicles. Buick owners cross shop with Acura, Lincoln, and Lexus. Kia buyers cross shop with Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.

@@tylongkicks8821 not always true. We crossed shop Chevy, Toyota, Kia, and Lexus. We found that the Kia had better bang for your buck than the other 3 comparable models, so we went with it. It has been an amazing car.

The Kia is a passenger's car, the Buick is a driver's car

Well that’s what they are used for in Korea, lots of chauffeuring. Hence the large rear seat leg room.

Buick has consistently been rated very well for reliability/durability for years. It is usually rated higher than most Asian marques.

While attending university I remember students literally throwing away Kias. They would park them by the garbage dumpsters with keys left in the ignitions and titles on the front seats. No one would take them. ;-) Kia will be hard pressed to be seen as anything but a rental car, or for someone with bad credit. It has a lot of bad PR to overcome in the U.S.

The Buick spanks that Kia. Kia wants $45,000 for what? That steering wheel just screams cheap plastic and those icons on the digital screen are as pixelated as an LG flip phone from 2004. Interior layout is not user friendly either.

Wow you’re just ignorant. The steering wheel is amazing, I drive my grandfathers 2018 all the time and it is far from cheap. The screen is older technology but is not bad at all. And the interior layout is user friendly. Dont comment about cars you havent been in.

The buick looks likes its a 2006, get with the times! The cadenza smokes that car!

@@Skyman08 Kia is far from low quality. My grandfather has a 2018 Cadenza Limited, the fit and finish is great and the engine has not given him an issue. You cant beat their 10 year 100,000 mile warranty either. The Buick is a nice car but dont comment about Kias quality when you have never been in one.

Nothing wrong or to be ashamed of a KIA badge. KIA and Hyundai has always been great reliable cars and has matched up to its styling now. I would purchase G90 Genesis over any other German luxury car

Adaptive Cruise Control is one of the features I'm focused on, and I appreciate that it's available on the Cadenza without having to get the top trim. Whereas for the LaCrosse, it's only available on the top trim.

They are looking at just rear leg room numbers. The Kia seat slides back farther than the Buick, so it has less leg room.

Unfortunately the entire sedan segment has poor resale value, the demand for the vehicles is at an all time low. Car's are inherently a poor investment anyway, unless into the overpriced/hyped classics and supercars. People should buy what they like and want to drive for many years. As long as the buyer is happy that's really all that should matter. Hold on to most vehicles for 5+ years the resale is equally poor anyway.

First of all, AMATEURS! You claim that the Lacrosse is better than the Kia Cadenza...? So why is it that in PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATIONS (meaning people who are way more knowledgeable than you'll ever be) have ranked the Kia top notch? Secondly, the tall one made a point of how the Buick can get very expensive when adding features (which a lot of the same things are standard on the Cadenza SXL)... third, really? Honestly, anyone who considers themselves a so called "millennial" and also craves and/or currently drives a Buick... is a genuine geriatric old fart in mind and spirit and should probably go take a nap before tapioca cups are served. Clearly, the Cadenza is leaps and bounds ahead of the Lacrosse as it shows that Buick is desperate to get back into a class they fell out of ages ago.

Jay, the professionals also rank Buick as top notch. The price difference is small, and if you have negotiation skills can easily be closed. Young people can, and do, like the Buick and that doesn't mean this particular car is for old farts. Why the anger, man? Do you own a Kia? If so, good for you. Not like they said the Kia was a piece of shit. No need to get emotional over cars...that's like folks fighting over which is better, Chevy or Ford.

Buick is quieter and rides better. Its interior is obviously better in terms of quality. The styling is more modern too. Why pay for a Kia when you can have a better car with the Buick? In 30 years, the Buick will still be on the road. The same can't be written about the Kia.

+Ricky Holmes, The Buick Lacrosse received J.D. Power's Award for quality in 2018. It easily beat the cheaply made Kia. The next time you are on the road, count how many 30 year old Buicks are still going strong compared to 30 year old foreign cars. Chevrolet Impala also was mentioned as having high scores too.
