Saw one in person today in white and I have to say it's one of the most striking cars on the road right now. A total work of art. Infiniti really have outdone themselves with this one.

Actually I like the interior very much. However Sofyan is right by saying that Infiniti should have done more to differentiate the interior from the 4-door sedan's (Q50)

All I have to say is WOW, this is such a nice designed car. I got the G37 back in 2008 and loved the way it drove and never once gave me a problem. Now that I live in NYC I bought a cheap car but so wish I could get this. Great Job Infiniti

You are correct, although we have yet to show you guys full reviews on any of these. That should change soon, but until then we're going to stand by our statement about the interior not quite matching the stunning design of the exterior. That is not the case for the Mercedes and Audi in our eyes.

***** In terms of interior design, the 4 series and 3 series are quite identical. As for materials this Q60 has material differences as well, like stitched dashboard and door panels as well as improved seats.

No one ever mentions cost of ownership when discussing these vs the Germans. You may pay a similarly high number up front, but the Germans will stay in your wallet in a big way over the coming years that you keep it. The Infiniti will cost you tires (please upgrade the ones this q comes with), brakes and that's about it. No fancy konfabulator module in the engine behind the dash that needs orange goat blood every 4500 miles at a labor cost of $1200... This will give you speed, style, and money to drive it to dinner.

Infiniti is the luxury brand so make it luxury and DIFFERENT! Yes the infotainment system should be more up to date. Way behind the competitors. Check out the Motor Trend Channel on this Infiniti S red sport reviews. They had trouble with the way the car was auto correcting the steering. Still needs work on the adaptive steering. But I do have to say the looks of it do turn heads.

Most of the competition honestly don't have that great of a key fob either. The Lexus key fob looks like something from the 90's. BMW's only nice on really high end models, same with Mercedes. Volvo has the best looking key fob right now in my opinion. Love the perforated leather look it has (or wood).

I thought about waiting for the Q60 Red Sport, but coming from a G37 IPL I remember the lack of real rear seat room and tiny trunk, and bought a Q50 Red Sport 3 months ago. I'm posting here to make comments on the common traits of the cars. The 3.0t is a fabulous engine, it just pulls and pulls. I like the two screens, the bottom is pretty much a tablet, lots of tech and apps. I think both cars look great, and love the different drive modes. I shopped the Germans and Jaguar, you will spend a lot more to get 400 HP, you'll be in the $70K+ range, I personally prefers the looks of the Q50/Q60 over any of them. Two common negatives and I agree, the Dunlop summer run flats stink, they are easily overwhelmed, a swap to Pilot Super Sports makes a huge difference. Both cars are too quiet, Infiniti partners with Stillen and a Stage 2 catback exhaust will be out soon, I've pre-ordered with my dealer. Do not like DAS, did't get get it after a test ride, fortunately it is a $1000 option you don't have to get. Nice reviews, I've watched both (Q50 & Q60 Red Sport 400s), the cars are lookers, acceleration is surprising, friends who I've let drive usually go WOW, @#$%^&*. I have zero buyer regrets, Infiniti has serious players with both the sport sedan and sport coupe with the Red Sport models. Well played................

I've seen quite a few of these on the road already, and I must say that this is one of the most striking cars on the road, and especially in its class. Only sort of drawback to me is the interior design. It's very functional and driver-focused but doesn't say "wow" or match the aggressive curves and nature of the exterior.

I test drove one of these the other day just to experience this steering system. It's not bad, like it tries and does a fairly good job hiding the fact that its not connected by simulating the resistance of the road friction when turning the wheel, but like Sofayan said, there are some weird things about it. One of the thing I noticed is that when I drove it on a straight highway with no curves but bumpy, when you hold the wheel firmly in place the car appears to make corrections automatically without your steering input where in a typical rack and pinion steering you make slight corrections yourself. I also drove it on a windy day and the same is the case. That I find weird. The car making corrections to stay straight rather than me as the driver.

I had an original model year G35 Coupe. I was the 9th person in Canada to own one. I remember when I went on the road for the first time, I turned enough heads to give people whiplash. It was an amazing vehicle. Perfect amount of horsepower and torque. The transmission was great. I sold it when it got to 200,000 kilometers. I never upgraded it or did any mod work to it. Kept it as stock as it was. The only thing I needed to replace on it was the battery. Nissan almost rebuilt the engine when it hit 100,000 km for the first 20 Canadian owners. I sold it for $12,000. It looked like a proper Skyline. The G37 may have been faster and had a nicer entire, the looks didn't impress me. This one is interesting, but the G35 had way more masculine and straight curves. I've taken the Q60 coupe red sport for a test drive. It's obviously a totally different car and it really hauls. It's a beautiful car. It's definitely an experience.

I haven't heard so much whining in all my life and Im over 50. For it's starting price, what, in the mid 30s, it's a very well made sport coupe for the buck. If you want specialization for your specific desires, then have it done. I still own my 91 Q45 and every day I drive it, I still enjoy it. So, you don't like cars with curves. The most beautiful cars ever made are cars with curves, just like curves of a woman. Infinity decided to not only add curves but also drape over the wheels. They did a wonder job on this car. I just wish they would build a limited version with a 4.5 liter V8, supercharged. What I dont like is the nose. But that's me. I prefer narrower grille with more definition that what every manufacturer is using in their designs today. Dodge started it and now every manu. follows. SF

You were grossly under-prepared for this review...the more you drove and complained the more it contradicted your gripes...transmission shifted quickly - you didn't like it - " the only thing that holds this car back is the 7-speed...." You stated the drive by wire is "weird"... ask Aryton Senna, it could save your life. No mention of the safety systems workings with Lane Keep Assist - uses individual brakes to steer you in the lane; unlike Acura which uses a camera to control the steering wheel. Your video sound records no wind noise contrary to your comment of more noise than German competitors.....I'VE ENJOYED YOUR ACURA REVIEWS OF THE PAST...this one falls short....just seems like a lack of preparation and information. Other reviewers have mentioned the drive by wire first generation seemed sluggish in response and your video demonstrates this second generation has no lag! Why not do a totally new review of this model with information regarding the drivetrain and safety features? For instance, the steering wheel is power for telescopic and rake adjustments while its competitors are not. For all your complaining about the second screen saying, "I'd use the interface dial control..." you still used the screen to adjust the suspension demonstrating it was easier to access anyway. I think you have to agree you just seemed to climb in and review with very little forethought or time spent driving beforehand.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, our time with these cars are extremely limited at these press events. What usually takes us 3 hours to film had to be shrunken down to less than an hour. Since we weren't sure when we would get another chance to test the Q60, we made the decision to film the car [since it's been highly requested] during this short time. Also, the video doesn't quite show the lag in steering response when the wheel is turned to when the front tires actually do something. It's kind of a delayed reaction too as the front tires don't become out of sync with your steering request until you start really pushing the car.

You keep making a point about red in the interior but what would it match? The exterior color is not red nor is every model a red sport. Placing random touches of red is very boy racer and not indicative of the market that infiniti is trying to pursue.

  • @theredline

If you look at any new Mercedes-AMG product, you will find plenty of red stitching, available red leather, and some models offer red seat belts as an option. We completely disagree with your claim that red is a boy-racer look, you're confusing it with big wings and fart can exhaust systems, but to each their own :)

I agree with you about needing some red inside...maybe the stitching...the MB 450 AMG gets the red stitching and belts they look great....I read a lot of people comparing it to the German cars The s4, the BMW 440, on and on....I have owned a number of them, I now have about 48,000 miles on a G37x it has never been near the service dept.....I can't say that for the MB's and BMW's that my son and I have owned. I'm going to pass on the Maserati Ghibi and the c43AMG and go for this coupe.....I'll get it loaded this time next year for about $45,000.

I actually like the rear over the front. I hate the chrome behind the front wheel wells. They should kill the "drive by wire"...it just sucks and kills the whole driving experience. Sofyan is right, there should be something red to distinguish it from the rest of the Q line.

the only issue with it is that the price can now reach MID 60'S and seeing as over 50% of these will leave the show room floor loaded up... that means buyers will have the option to get an RC F or ATS V which both come with a ton of standard interior options plus they offer superior interiors, more performance, and more Luxury all for the mid 60 range. better options for the price of a loaded Q60. *also the "leather" on the passenger side mid dash is not leather its injection mold along with the top of the door trim its a stitched injection mold.* the upper dash is pleather / plastic. and that cheap textured fo carbon fiber is a huge turn off its reminiscent of the c6 corvette. the interior is more comparable with Lincoln and Acura not Lexus or Cadillac let alone BMW. hints why the full leather real carbon fiber real aluminium ATSV interior is far superior.

sal1nger nailed it on the head. You're talking about the RCF when Q60S isn't a direct competitor to it. Lexus doesn't really have anything that's equivalent to the Q60S right now. The Q60S is more compariable to a 440 with the M Package (not M4). The ATSV STARTs at 60k, the Q60S is fully loaded at 60K. You can get a base Q60S without all the tech for the low 50K's.
