    As the new owner of a used Lacrosse a few months ago now, I can say they are really comfortable cars. Handled a 11+hr drive to Colorado easily and comfortably while getting 30mpg at 75-80mph (hand calculated), and this is an AWD one too. Entry and exit is pretty easy even at 6'5".

    I purchased a fully loaded 2017 Lacrosse with the premium trim level and couldn't be happier. I absolutely love the way it rides and handles, especially with the sport setting on. It has so many options I'm having a blast learning them all. It is by far the quietest, best riding, and best driving car I have ever owned. It handles like a dream on any road I’ve throw at it, has plenty of power, gets excellent gas mileage and is super comfortable on long trips. And I think it is the most stylish car on the market, not gaudy but sophisticated in its looks and styling. I tested a number of competitive models from Lexus, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, Acura, BMW and Lincoln and they just didn't compare to this car on features for the price and in many other ways. Anyone wanting a luxurious, quiet, great handling car, with plenty of power may want to take a look at the Lacrosse!

    I have to agree with Nathan this is one of the best V6s out there right now. I have it in my 2012 Impala with 6 speed auto and it fly's. I wouldn't trade it for any SUV that's for sure.

    The Buick Lacrosse is easily the best of it's platform mates. The XTS and Impala are just missing something. Both Chevy and Buick have a nicer exterior than the Caddy, but Buick just does it the best. That along with the fact that the car will last forever makes the decision fairly easy

    I'm strictly a Hyundai fan myself. But I recently took a few hours trip in the all new LaCrosse and have to say it was every bit as comfortable as my Genesis. Not sure how it drives as I didn't get that privilege, but passenger and back seats were fantastic. I'm very big on a quiet cabin and the LaCrosse didn't disappoint. Not to mention this car has a great look in person, has a good mix of a luxury and Sporty design, Great job Buick.

    When you drive on long road trips you appreciate cars like this. My Father in law has a Cadillac and you notice the difference in a great built vehicle when it comes to how it handles and performs and road noise. Worst performing vehicle I ever drove on a road trip was to El Paso, in a Jeep Compass.

    The electronic gear selector is to increase cabin space. As he says he does not understand why they do it now, they show a side shot showing the storage now available underneath the shifter. With the mechanical linkage, it would not exist. Is it worth that extra space? I leave that to you to decide.

    At sea level 0-60 time is 6.0 for fwd and 5.8 for awd! You didn't even spin the tires and took off so slow, but maybe because of the elevation reducing engine power.

    Blakehx I have heard this before but Buick has a proven record you could look back at the Buick Regal in the late nineties all the way through now and their record is impeccable amazing performance and even handling was far and above the competition in 2000 through 2000 and whenever have you ever driven one the gas mileage wasn't credible a 3800 motor was delivering 26 to 32 miles to the gallon everyday and with a supercharger it would get 28 - 29 the highway massive torquey reliable

    I like the hood / side vent ports on the Buick. Clearly they are not functional as they were on the old Buick cars dating back to the 40's and 50's to help cool those V 8 engines; but they have become a trademark-like symbol of the Buick brand. In fact, they have become fashionable add on aftermarket accessory on other cars makes/models from Chrysler, Chevy, Acura and oddly even Toyota cars have been spotted with stick on side/hood vents. Of course, some don't look so well, but as they say "its the thought that counts" . My dad had a 1971 Buick Lasabre, where the traditional hood vents added a distinguishable swag like no other. I have a 2016 Buick Regal Premium II. It has fake hood vents but I love the traditional trademark look. Even the legendary "Buick Grand National" carried the traditional Buick hood/side vents.

    I work at a Buick/GMC dealer, and we probably sell 1 sedan for every 100 SUV's/trucks. It's a shame because cars ride and drive so much better than SUV's, and you can see around them on the highway vs. staring at a suv's tailgate in traffic.

    True, instead of buying a vehicle best suited for the 98% of the time they'll be driving it, they buy it for the 2% of the time they actually need the extra cargo room or space. They settle for the uglier vehicle, the crummy ride quality and noise levels all the time for the few minutes of time they really need an SUV.

    The problem is marketing... I LOVE BUICK but that’s because me and my family have always worked for the big 3 but I have literally NEVER SEEN A BUICK COMMERCIAL unless searching online for 1... and despite all the research I’ve done on these cars I’ve still yet to see an ad for them?? I’ve even leased a regal helped 2friends and a family member buy a Buick and I’m buying a Buick this week I’ve already placed a down payment so idk GM is sleeping on Buick Also the advertising for the Buick Regal Sportback was just bad... if they hired me for their marketing department I’d have propelled that cars sales! Too bad I specialized in finance and am currently at Chrysler (you’ll never catch me driving a Chrysler tho)

    IMO, ease of entry is NOT the only reason people are choosing CUVs over sedans. For me, that is a factor, but the main reason I drive a CUV is that the higher seating elevation offers better visibility both for seeing down the road as well as looking out the side windows when touring. That said, I own and 2012 LaCrosse which my younger daughter drives, and my older daughter just bought a loaded 2017 LaCrosse, much like the one in the video.

Suspension designed by Gm Germany, this is not your father's Buick.My "Toyota " days are over. Electric Sliding doors stopped, air conditioning compressor out at 80000 miles ,new radiator at 100000 miles ,on and on. Thankful to now have a quality car that rides like no other.Great car ,from someone that's actually owned both

    You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the interior room. My work vehicle is a newer Ford Taurus which is a pretty good size car but you have to fall into it and once inside you feel like your in a space capsule! Big cars in the past had plenty of interior room which is why people bought them. Now I can tell very little difference in the interior room from a compact car to a so called full size car. This is the very reason I went to a half ton truck - to have room.

  • @Nestle245

    @Nestle245

    Hi, just had to comment on why SAV/SUV crossovers sell better. Now I'm 72 and sitting low in my Audi A6 is a pain it the ass when a SUV comes into range at night the high power lights simply blind the hell out of me, now when in my wife's X5 its not such a problem. Now this may not be all the reason, but it is giving me hell trying to find a 60k replacement for the Audi. Thanks great job on the Vlogs, love the honesty.

  • @LlyleHunter
    @LlyleHunter7 жыл бұрын

    I've driven this car and it's really smooth. However you've nailed the reasons that people are shifting to large crossovers. If manufacturers want to save the large American car they need to proportion it more like a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley Malsanne. American cars had such proportions in the late forties and early fifties. It make entry and exit much easier and with today's aerodynamics, electronics and computerization, and weight savings, fuel consumption is greatly reduced.

  • @LlyleHunter

    My theory why this segment is way down on sales. 1. Americans keep getting bigger (1970 Man vs 2017 Man), so trucks and crossovers more confortable. 2. Fuel is pretty cheap right now. So folks can justify truck and SUV. 3. Trucks and SUV can be found with some luxury of traditional luxury cars (Lincolns, Cadillacs, Buick) My two cents

    it's beautiful. historically this is Buicks niche, it falls in line with the park avenues of old. 300+HP &AWD is great, I just wish it wasn't so expensive. IMO sales for full-size cars are tough because the current midsize generation is literally half the cost and 90% of the size. I also agree about the trend for crossovers.

  • @Tully3674
    @Tully36747 жыл бұрын

    Nathan is implying sedans are losing market share because people are getting fat (out of shape). Don't necessarily disagree but SUVs/crossovers are gaining popularity because people want more options. You can carry 5 + loads of 'stuff' in the back. Also a little off-roading is easier in a crossover then an AWD sedan.

  • @joedidit3233

    Legroom is fine in the Lacrosse, but headroom on this test model was not so great, mostly because having a large moonroof/sunroof lowers the interior roof to accommodate the moonroof equipment and sunshade.

    The bottom line they need to bring back the big and roomy and beautiful Buick Lesabre. I cannot fit at all comfortably in the Lacrosse or any of their models. I don't want to feel like I'm sitting in a cockpit. They made a huge mistake discontinuing it for the second time. They don't need to get rid of one of their most favorable models in order to change their image. Less is not always more. And I personally prefer and need a bench seat.

    Anyone old enough to buy one of these remembers Buicks of the 80s and 90s which were mechanically identical to Chevys, Pontiacs, and Olds with slightly different styling and sheetmetal, and the same peeling paint, drooping headliners, and fading plastics and fabrics. Why would you pay $40k for one of these when for half as much you can buy an Accord, Altima, or Camry which will have more of a chance of still being able to run a few years down the road.

    And those who are only a bit older remember the 1950's and 1960's when Chevys, Pontiacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs all had their own completely different V8's. Some shared the same, or variations of Hydra-matic transmissions, but engines were independent to the different divisions.

    The reason why full size cars are dwindling in sales is because they are too expensive. You can either have a full size car, or you can get a small crossover with more space for $5,000 less.

    A bit of out-of-the-box engineering (ATS twin turbos), less chrome, and two words (Gran Sport) would really wake this car up! Sadly GM hasn't the cajones to build any Buick like that anymore . . .

    A couple of things: that's a new 3.6L and not the same as in the Camaro. It is, however, shared with the XT5. And if you want best acceleration times, don't run it up against the brake. That doesn't work anymore. Torque management will protect the transmission and you'll add a 1/2 sec or so to the time. Just stomp it. I did buy one right when they first came out and did choose this over the ES350. One thing though, if you're thinking about the 20" wheels, tires, suspension package, drive one first. It is one stiff SOB (unlike the owners). Hard riding enough that I replaced tires at my expense at 500 miles with the Conti DWS 06s. They sell the 20" option to an 80 year old with hemorrhoids, they're likely to hear about it. And the steering is really hair trigger on center. Lean to fart, and you'll find you're three lanes over.

    True, same displacement and V6. I guess it would depend on definition of 'new' and 'same basic' , but new engine in my book and used only in the Cadillac XT5 so far, but will be used in everything else as time moves on. Even from the Buick website it states "All-new 310 HP 3.6L V6 with start/stop technology" Always subject to spin and exaggeration, but from what I know, it's new.Also www.motortrend.com/news/10-cool-facts-about-the-2017-buick-lacrosse/ "No the V-6 engine in the 2017 LaCrosse isn’t the same one as in the car it replaces just because it has the same 3.6 liters of displacement. Instead, this is a new unit from the LGX family that can also be found in the 2017 Cadillac XT5 and 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, and like in those cars, this engine comes with cylinder deactivation for improved fuel economy."I think they're incorrect that this is used in the Camaro at this point. Not totally sure when it was first used now that I think about it.media.gm.com/media/us/en/buick/news.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2015/nov/laas/buick/1118-lacrosse.html"The balance of the efficiency equation comes from a technologically advanced, second-generation 3.6L V-6 engine paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission "

    True, Scott. This is an entirely new V6 even if it is still 3.6 liters. The Camaro 's older 3.6 puts out 335 horsepower, while this new one puts out 309-310 depending on who is reporting on it. The new 3.6 in the Lacrosse is silky smooth, even smoother and more refined than any of the Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti or Acura V6's. It was purposely designed to be better balanced and smoother than any of the existing V6's.

    A car like this needs a column shifter/front bench option. They took the American out of the large American sedan by designing all front seats to be like a fighter jet cockpit. Americans like to spread out and not feel closed in when riding in a big sedan, especially those who are a little older. The cars keep getting bigger, but front seat room gets smaller as bigger car means bigger center consoles rather than bigger seating space. Bring back the front bench option Buick.
