2017 BMW 530i Car Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Does the 7th generation BMW 5 Series have what it takes to hold off Audi A6, Cadillac CTS, Mercedes E-Class and for significantly less money, the Genesis G80. Take Voelk drives the 2017 BMW 530i with sDrive. This version fixes an audio issue.

    I drove a loaner 528i last year. Nice car, but the sounds of a 4 cylinder don't make the experience as premium as the price tag indicates. Seemed more like a nice Camry rather than a fun to drive BMW. These cars are softer than they used to be in the early 2000's. BMW is definitely chasing comfort over sport.

    Tom, while I love the look of beige leather seats in luxury cars, they always catch the blue dyes from jeans. Since you're into jeans, like me, does your personal car have beige seating? If so, how often to you have to clean it? I ask because I noticed the driver's seat in this BMW has already blue stains. Personally I only buy black interiors, but would love to have beige.

    what bothers me is the naming of BMW and MB the last few years, the numbers used to denote engine capacity, now the MB C300 and BMW 530 have 2 liter turbo 4's. They're nice cars, had a C300 for a loaner a couple years ago with a 7 speed auto.

    It seems the first tier luxury cars are first tier for a reason. They just feel extra special with the legacy they've left, their craftsmanship and feel. Yes, the Genesis G80 offers similar features, but it doesn't look and feel as special. Sometimes I think 2nd tier luxury cars are what people buy to tide themselves over until they can make the big move for a BMW/Merc/Audi.

    It seems to me like these luxury sedans have a very high starting price for the base features. Do you think that it makes any sense to get a base luxury car over a loaded mass market car that is the same size (assuming that you don't care about the brand of car you drive)? Not trying to start a fight, just don't see the logic of a more expensive car with less features.

  • @DrivenCarReviews

    @DrivenCarReviews

    7 жыл бұрын

    It's a personal choice. You can get a loaded Kia Cadenza for the base price of a 5 Series. Some people buy for the content and features, some want the extra engineering that goes into a car, others just want a showy badge.

    I don't know why luxury car makers like bmw, audi and benz can't take a page from Honda and Toyota and make a spacious interior with their midsize sedans.. I know its like comparing apples to oranges, but if you cant afford a 7series, a 5 series with ample interior space will be more than sufficient without going over board. As always impressive job MR VOLK!

    Beautiful car, they lose their resale value so fast, it really needs a panoramic roof though, that tiny roof is not doing the car justice thankfully you can get that on the seven series, Also they could’ve given a bigger power boost relative to the 330 I which does zero 60 in 5.2, this probably does it in 5.7 on a good day

  • @nicholasbabeaux2052

    @nicholasbabeaux2052

    3 жыл бұрын

    @japanwatchconnection No it’s completely true 5.7 is very fast for a larger executive sedan, and faster than the E300 with a four-cylinder in a similar price range. And I know that before BMW went to the 2.0 turbo in the base five series the The 528I with the six cylinder was slower, And a brief search actually shows 5.9 seconds from car driver and 6.3 or 6.4 seconds from motor trend. So I’m just saying that for that price it should be faster than a V6 Honda accord or Camry which it’s not, I know the 535I is much quicker, and more expensive and they could have boosted this 2.0 turbo more but BMW purposely didn’t because they didn’t wanna make it so closely matched with the 535I.
