I really liked the video, happy to finally find someone who uses the base model as not everybody can afford the more expensive version! It's April 2019 and I just bought mine, I thought about waiting but I was going from an early-2011 MacBook Pro so I knew it would be a massive improvement no matter what. Thanks!

I use this same model as a graphic designer, and it's amazing for editing on the go. I have a powerful desktop PC, but this honestly matches it in many Adobe programs and I wasn't expecting that at all! Super compact, powerful and a great user experience. Recommended!

just got this laptop. went into store for a dell G3 due to price to performance, then saw this the macbook pro and was like yup im getting that. mainly due to battery and portability. the quadcore version is expensive might as well get the 15inch. 2017 model is damn good.

13" MBP is totally a beast, but lack of ports and storage can be frustrating especially when compared to windows laptops in this range, although I have never faced that wifi issue u mentioned.

I bought the base model as well and for less than half the cost of upgrading to a 256gb ssd i was able to buy a usb c hub with all the missing IO and a 1 terabyte usb c external HD.

i figured it out! if the laptop doesn’t want to load like when your using browsers or anything just restart your laptop. yes it is annoying but it works

I used this model mpxq2 no touchbar 2017 macbook pro 128ssd for 1 month.... but I finally decided to switch to the same year Touchbar version. Nothing wrong with the No touchbar model, it’s just 128G seem not to be sufficient and the personal preference internally urges to change

I've had mine since January 2018 and had no keyboard issues at all, however make sure you buy one with warranty because I've now had 2 new logic boards.

Hi. How does this iteration handles Adobe Photoshop CC? My daily job is graphic design and webdesign and I want to know if I could use this with Photoshop/Adobe XD mostly, and sometimes Illustrator (but not heavy) for freelance jobs? At my workplace I have a mid 2013 27'' iMac which is enough for the job, but is this enough for moderate usage at home? I'm not doing any video editing work nor I would do Photoshop heavy daily and I would really need the portability. Thank you :)

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH THE WIFI PROBLEM WHEN CONNECTING USB-A!! Disappointinh considering i shelled out for the 13" touchbar model for the extra performance boost. Also noticed that the wifi problem only happens with non-apple third party dongles!

Got my wife this exact model for school, NYU English Masters.

If only this thing at the Gen 3 keyboard, it would be fabulous! I've typed on both and the Gen 3 keyboard is firm and responsive. The 2017 MBP keyboard is types hard and clacky.

Good review. The 2018 14" Asus 8th gen intel 8 GB ram base model, 256 SSD base model Flip is a far better choice. Faress expensive, Great stylish aluminum build, no fan noise issues, great touch screen, fingerprint sensor, micro SD card slot, can be used as a tablet, looks great and is much cheaper. No problem editing videos or photos. 16 GB of ram is best for editing. It's where Apple laptops should be.

I just bought a 16gb w/ 512gb off Gumtree for $2k AUD. Fingers crossed it gets me through 4 years of CS at uni.

I might purchase the 256gb model but I'm skeptical... The keyboard has problems, the lack of ports, and the wifi problems you talked about. The fact that I need a dongle for usb a dongle for sd cards and a dongle for hdmi is just stupid... I was considering the razer blade stealth

If you shop around and are willing to buy a used albeit mint in-box macbook pro, you can score a 2018 quad core toucbar macbook pro 13" for about $1350. Just check facebook marketplace and Craigslist daily and you'll find one. Thats how I got mine, zero complaints and it was minty new with only 2 battery cycles.

Nice review mate! I have one question though. Can you edit 4k footage in premiere Pro without lags? I know that it's optimised to work flawlessly with final cut Pro but I'm really used to edit my videos with premiere. Thanks :)

Depends of your specs, not with the base model.

Agreed that touchbar is an unnecessary improvement. And yes, the pro doesnt really make us pro due to the only-two-usb-c issue

@@tiaadaanieep7282 I hear you. I thought the same at first and did a lot of too-ing and fro-ing before I decided on Amazon. Got it delivered this week and I don't regret it. Ordered 500GB storage and got 1TB instead, 16GB RAM and i7core processor...and it was cheaper than a refurbished one from apple with lesser specs. Either way, I don't blame you for the extra caution.
