Yeah. When I look at Sakamoto san performing here, I can tell that he’s thinking of David... it’s quite beautiful and ironic that a film depicting the little seed of friendship struck between members of these two nations formally at war is actualized through Ryuichi and David’s friendship and respect for one another.

He's a master of leitmotifs. It's just one musical sentence, yet Mr. Sakamoto is able to infuse it with such intensity and variety of emotions, just like how the greatest of poets have a thousand lines in store just to say: "I love you."

34 years ago, I first heard this beautiful work… in a C64 computer game called International Karate. It used the sid chip and was programmed by Ron Hubbard. It resonated deeply with me and came across as bittersweet. I was 8 at that time. 32 years later… Apple Music shuffled this music in suggestions for me… and I was surprised! I immediately recognised it and of course it all made sense. This was a movie composition! So happy that I discovered this beautiful piece. I still have to watch the film though :-)

I don't see any of this information in the comments below. If this sounds familiar to some people, this song was recorded with David Sylvian under the name of "Forbidden Colors" . David Sylvian wrote the lyrics along with Sakamoto. This was played at the end of the movie during the credits. This was the first time I heard this song. Bowie was very much alive when this was written. At first it sounded like Bowie's voice, but after a moment I knew it had to be Sylvian. (I do miss David Bowie.) If you are not familiar with David Sylvian, you are in for a treat if you research ALL of his music. He has this silvery baritone voice with tremendous skill on pratically every instrument. He was this young blonde beautiful front man for this fantastic progressive Brittish group called "Japan" in the 1980's. From his solo career he collaborated with the likes of Ryuichi, Robert Fripp, Bowie and numerous progressive Masters. His Solo albums are just amazing. He is one of my favorite all time Musician, Composer and Singer. He deserves more credit than he has been given. This song is on David Sylvian's "Songs from the Beehive" along with other incredible songs. The lyrics match the power and sadness of this music. Put together with the movie, it will make you cry. I urge you to check him out.
