2016 Tornado Foosball (Table Soccer) World Championships Amateur Doubles Final

Wayne Wicks and Steve Zeoke versus Ben Krueger and Charles Osmond in Lexington, KY, September 5, 2016. The final two teams out of a 91-team field.
The man of the match here is undoubtedly Jim Stevens of Inside Foos Productions, who also generously gave me permission to post this video. The commentary and video editing brings outstanding professionalism to an amateur foosball match, and automatically makes even the game-play seem better.
For videos of actual foosball titans battling it out from decades past to present, visit www.insidefoos.com/ .
Along with practice/experience, nothing assists your game more than studying video.
Good foosin' to you.

  • @stevezeoke

    @stevezeoke

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks, Joshua! Definitely practice moving the ball around. When I shoot on the push-side or pull-side, I am dragging the ball from the top of it in the lateral direction of the lane I want to shoot in, while entering the back-swing of the shot. I trust that the ball will be in front of my man by the time the man comes forward and through the front-swing of the shot. You basically allow yourself to get used to it and not discouraged by missing a few. Your muscle memory and brain are doing way better math than we can consciously and will adjust until it's automatic. You can go short or long in either direction once you have the feel. I shoot open-handed (slide my hand down the grip, roll it back up again and catch the handle), but closed-handed works just the same way. I hope that helps. "Unreal Foos" is a KZread channel with killer tutorials by an amazing player/host. I believe he covers pin shots. That'll help even more. Experience against tour players, practice and videos are the fastest road to improvement :)

Back in the late 80s, when Tournament Soccer tables were no longer prominent anywhere else, there were 200 of them spread out in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. There was a great scene. We had a few euro shooters, and they were the winningest. So I copied that, started beating everyone all the time, and thought I was the best in the world. Then I met the Toronto crowd, and then the US tour. I was wrong. Quite wrong.

    Can't beat a old glass top Dynamo. Grew up playing on those. A Tornado is ok but the ball doesn't have the same reaction between the men for sure and it allows different styles of play instead of the one shot pull game. The Tornado does benefit those one shot pull shooters. Can't blame them if you can't stop it. I usually gave those guys a hard time because I could get to the hole consistently. It's easier going from a Tornado to a Dynamo than the other way around in my opinion.

    I like a Tornado but it is not a glass top Dynamo. Much better table for combos and players that move the ball on the toe or heal. We played a different game in the seventies and early eighties then they switched from the Dynamo's as the competition table to the Tornado. It's very hard to explain the difference. Am glad to see at this tournament they haven't slicked the table up like in some places which I like becuase I learn playing and passing and setting up on the heel and toe. But I could play just bouncing in between the men but I prefer to play with the table slightly tacky because I prefer shooting a lot of different shots instead just a pull. But everyone needs a money shot and that usually is a pull but mine was a toe because I could go both ways and cut the ball between the men if I get your timing down. That's why it's good to have fast ball control and move the ball to kinda see the goalies movement and timing. Am 57 now and have had two shoulder surgeries and I can't play seriously anymore. My partner died four years ago. We traveled all over playing Dynamo Tournaments in the South and Midwest. The problem then we both were coke heads but we still won a lot of Tournaments because we grew up playing before we got home trained. We held down steady jobs so a few times we drove like 600 miles and barely made it in time to sign up. Leave work after staying up the night before and then drive sometimes ten hours and play without maybe a nap in the car. I miss those days.

The Dynamos had the most insane grip for front or back pin. I could do any bank from any position on the 3-rod too. Sorry about your doubles partner and to hear that you aren't able to play tournaments anymore. Everyone from back then still fits in and wins their share :) There are probably a few who's names you would know or even recall having played against.
