Every time I see an ocarina video this guy pops up. Holy shit. Is he the only ocarina player in the world?

There aren't many. It's not a very widely used instrument, most the people who get into it just buy one to learn songs from Zelda and then never actually learn the instrument. I recently got my first one, and I am loving it. First instrument I've ever owned unless you count my trumpet from like 12 years ago when i was in elementary school. I love the sound and I love learning it. David's how to play book and series is great.

my dream collection
Your passion for music and ocarinas is inspiring David! I've been watching your channel for about 7 or 8 years already and I can't believe how fast time goes by..! I'll always remember learning how to play my first 12 hole ocarina just by watching your fingers on that Ponyo collaboration you made back then. You've been a huge influence on me and I'm glad you continue inspiring new musicians 9 years later! :) Keep it up David!
Challenge: making a song using every single of the properly tuned ocarinas
163!! I only have 3! But that is an amazing collection! Also, my friend got one of the zelda replica ocarinas and it was tuned lower than a C (kind of in between B and Bb). Though, one day, he dropped it and it chipped a very small hole into the end of it and now it's in tune!
That's crazy. I was expecting perhaps a couple dozen, and certainly not any as old as the ones you showed. Very cool collection!
Ahh, I love your collection! So diverse, so big, so beautiful. ^~^ You're really passionate about ocarinas, and it's inspiring. I love to see all of these all at once. It's a great feeling to just see so many great ocarinas. Maybe I'll start up my own little collection one day.
Hey David, I know you probably won't read this comment, but, your channel is amazing, you helped me pick my first ocarina, how to play cool songs, and over all, you have a lot of talent, I think that you deserve way more subscribers than you currently have, :)
I've watched this video several times cos I like seeing different types of ocarinas and it helps me learn
I have one exactly like those in the upper right of your video. It is dark blue with the gold point and a gold impression of the maker underneath in front of the mouth piece. I cannot make out who the manufacturer is though. It is also an Eight Hole Ocarina. My dad brought it back from Europe at the end of WW-II in 1945. I used to play it a little bit when I was a young boy. When he died at 89, I asked for it for my curio cabinet along with his Metronome he used while playing his piano.
Thank for making and sharing your vdos. I enjoy to watch your vdos. You open my eyes to know more about the ocarinas.
Thank you for all your videos David, you're an absolute star and here's to another 9 years of making videos x ^____^
I saw you had a couple made from metal. not the dragon tooth, but one of them was the last one you counted. that would be really cool to see a bit more on
I got two Osawa i plastic ocarinas from Focalink for Christmas this year, and I love them. For anyone looking for a cheap ocarina that's easy to play and sounds pretty darn tootin good, get one of those. :)
I've only watched your channel for about 3-4 months, but you still continue to inspire me.. Also, that is an awesome collection of ocarinas

Oh, my god, David! Your other ocarina collection video used to be my favorite, but now I know which one is my new fave! I am very proud of you and very, very glad I subscribed to your channel back in... 2010? Anyways, it's thanks to YOU that I knew ocarina playing was something and it's been great watching you become a more professional and loving person each time :') hugs.

Thanks Richie! It's been quite the growing experience and appreciate you sticking with me the last few years :D
What an impressive collection! My one and only treasure ocarina is the Meissen 6C ocarina that looks almost exactly like the one you have. A beautiful piece. At first I got one of the knockoffs and was greatly disappointed, until I got a Meissen one. I found out about the ocarinas not so long ago, actually from your videos and has been in love ever since. Love your channel, keep up the good work!
I just instantly hit Like, I'm really hoping I can join the next Collab, These collections are the best non music vids you make, Keep up the great vids David C:
Yes yes yes I have been waiting for this moment from the time I saw your old I believe 3 years on KZread? (Sorry if I'm wrong)but I needed this THANK YOU!
your collection is cool, happy new year
I would love to see a demonstration of the weird Chinese Animal Kingdom ocarina cup thing, if it sounds like a useable ocarina.
I am so inspired by your music you are truly talented
I just got a Takashi TAC from Kuolong Pan. It's amazing. the chamber balance is, seriously, perfect. The second picks up exactly where the first left off. The low notes are warm and clear and the high notes are crisp and powerful. It's the perfect triple and you have GOT to try it.
such a cool collection!

Those have a very original Ocarina sound. I’m thinking of getting one of those to top my Zelda Songbird Ocarina
I had the brown pendant with the triforce but it was like a b-flat tuning (which I wasn't a fan of, but the design was awesome)... I lost it. What would be a great sounding one for a beginner, either a pendant or another tiny to medium size one. Also from Texas as well :D
Woah! What an amazing collection! Happy new year!! You are such an inspiration.I started playing the ocarina a month ago with a very bad one and now I'm using a F. Menaglio in Do 3, I don't know if it's a good one to start. PD: Sorry for my English, I'm Spanish

DUDE!!! u so cooool im trying to make a video of me playing song of storms with editing cuz u are the one who makes evryone love playing on ocarina!
hey David! I just wanted to say a few things, thanks for being such an inspiration to me and everyone else. it warms my heart to know that people actually are inspired from other people. also, I wanted to ask, are you still collecting ocarinas and what ocarina is the one that you play the most? p.s. You've inspired me to get an ocarina and I've learned so much so fast from watching your videos. p.p.s. my name is Taygen and I am 12 years old.
I am curious about how ocarinas of different materials sounds. I would like to hear a comparison of like the metal ones and the wooden ones.
I love this guy
I want to know more about the super tiny ocarina necklace. How u got it, how u play it, and if you were it as jewerly.
Is there any interesting articles or texts known to you about ocarinas? I'm doing a class project about ocarinas but I can't seem to be able to find any information about them. I also will really like to know more about the sweetheart ocarina. P.S. you Are my idol. ( I mean ocarina Idol) but still I think you are 100% awesome
I got my first ocarina a few months ago because of you and it was the plastic soprano c from the song and bird ocarina store

Hello! :D
Hi David! I have a question about the little purple Songbird pendant you picked up @ 7:53. I absolutely love it!! Do you know if they will be making any more in that particular Celtic knot design? I have a first gen soprano Bb Celtic knot pendant (that I used to wear everywhere) and a jewel inlay in alto D by Songbird just like the one in your glass cabinet. I loved seeing your collection from Seattle. The Clayz booth at Pike Place Market used to be a favorite haunt when I lived in the city :D Btw, when you visit Clayz again, I'd highly recommend picking up the large 5 hole raindrop in low D. My children love hearing songs on Big 'Ol Blue.
awesome collection! and do you happen to have a video with the stl rupee ocarina in it? im going to buy their 12 hole zelda replica and I was wondering if I should spend a couple extra dollars for the bundle with the rupee.
Hi David! My gosh, you have sooo many and I only own two of the ones you have! The muse 10-hole, which i have to say i absolutely love and have been learning how to play with your "How to Play Ocarina" series. And the Baby dragon tooth 6-hole i believe. Which i love want would like to play better and it got my curious. I know the "How to play" series teaches notes for the 12-10 hole, and I've only looked at a few videos so far but have learned the basics to follow along simple music sheets. But have you considered teaching notes for 4-6 hole Ocarina's?
We need an updated version!
wooooo so many ocarinas!
Those teeny tiny ocarinas from Japan and in your glass case; I would be fascinated to see and hear those played! Looks really hard. How...?! I have the the mario mushroom one and Charlie hind Inline in F :) Somehow I have a lot of trouble cover the holes all the way on the Inline. Probably just really used to the mushroom one. And practicing the Inline more would probably help just a little XD Thank you for sharing your collection, it is fantastic!
Hey @David Erick, I have been a fan for quit a while and was wondering if you could make a video with the tiny ocarinas? I think it would be really cool!
I picked up an old Mezzetti at a charity shop it's a bit damaged so it doesn't play properly but it was only £5 and I liked how it looked.
I'd love to see that dragon tooth ocarina in the fire opal finish in action. My eyes couldn't leave that one alone!
Hello David Thanks for your videos.. You speak very clearly for me (french).. Did you test ICO ocarinas ?
I learned so much from this (more than the low budget school orchestra)
I only have 5 in my house.... 2 are mine and 3 are my younger brother's. I own a TNG/STL Zelda 12 hole AC and a green TNG triple Alto C. My brother has a Zelda blue AC rupee, a Zelda 12 hole SC, and a blue TNG triple Alto C. Note that our triples are double-tuned by the shopkeeper in Taiwan (they were bought there in the TNG main shop). If you were in Taiwan, David, you could ask some professionals to retune your ocarinas to you. Please read!
i saw the blue ocarina at around 20:10 in some of your previous videos and i find it so cool. can you tell me where to get one of these?
Wow! Where you buy all the ocarinas? I'm from Spain. Thank you.
Hey David vids are great, btw is there any other website to buy the double harmony ocarina by north workshop?
I remember you and Shea playing #150 back in the day :)
I'm looking for my first pendant ocarina and was wondering if you could talk about some of those ones?
amazing collection!!! thanks for showing ;-) got a . question, your large green one from Korea, top left hand corner that you said is a tenor? wherecan i get that one? and who made it? thanks man, i enjoyed it, take care
I have an ocarina collection! I want the STL Element Ocarinas because they look and sound beautiful!
david i just orderd an ocarina now im just waiting for it to arrive in the mail
Wowzers! Do you play all of them? Or are some bought just because it was cute?
I would love to see a music video for "All Along the Watchtower" off of your first album. Definitely my favorite and has a cool vibe within it.
I'd love to see a video about ocarinas from England as I'm struggling to find good well tuned ones. Thanks :-)
Hello David, I was wondering were did you get the double playing ocarina (the one look like a bone ^^) and the little 5 holes (same group) and if it's possible to ordre some online ^^ thank's!
I'd like to know more about North Country Workshop's Harmonics. Nancy Rumbel made them famous, and I love Tingstad and Rumbel are a couple of my favorite artists. :)
Poor Tom. 6 years since your last collection vid and you still can't remember his last name. XD. Great collection there, David.
15:28 is the small white ocarina available somewhere? The sound I find to be really nice, so I've been waiting for this collection video

*small thin one next to the blue one
Today I got a 12-hole, Alto C ocarina and I'm hoping to get better at it. The sound of it is soft, which is good. But I'm trying to work on LoZ: Spirit Tracks overworld theme, hoping to play it for someone or somethin'.
I have the songbird 12 hole oot. I find it's a bit straining to hold, and it's difficult for me to get the pitch on high notes right. I think this may have something to do with the sudden required increase in air flow. Would a dragon tooth be a good fit for me? It looks way more ergonomic and a gradual increase in airflow may make more sense to me.
What do you know about Giorgio Pacchioni? He made professional ocarinas over the years. I would be interested to have at least one ocarina made by him (single or double chamber). Could you suggest me a possible source to buy?
I WANT ALL THE OCARINAS ❤️❤️❤️
You need to make a copy of that T-shirt with your name and ocarina on it!! XD

A nice, interesting collection, I was just wondering, have you ever seen an Aztec skull whistle, they don't play music, they sound like a person screaming, do you know where to get one?
i want more ocarinas
My dad and I are learning it together once they get here. I ordered mine from Amazon though so I'm not too sure its gonna be in tune 😅
I bought a knockoff one on Amazon (the same as in this video) and mine was tuned very well and plays beautifully

I'd like to ask about the Matthieu (Matthew?) Ocarina you showed at the end there. Is it made of metal? I ask because I've wondered for years now if there were brass ocarinas that could produce a more flute-like sound, and why they are so rare if they did exist.
@Naryoril
8 жыл бұрын
+Mr Luxarina there are metal ocarinas, no idea about brass though. And i guess they are rare because metal is very hard to work with. The way an ocarina produces it's sound is quite different from a flute, and i guess the process involved to make them is easier for a flute than for an ocarina when working with metal.
Can you also show off the other musical instruments you have? Through your videos I've seen at least two guitars and one flute.
Hey David! I was wondering what your thoughts are on those Focalink plastic ocarinas are? A friend of mine wants to get into playing the ocarina but doesn't want to put in a lot of money on an instrument she may not like. Thanks a lot!
can you tell me the maker of the zelda ocarina you got from your friend in the comic convention? i think i have the same one and wanted to look at his other ones but i dont remember the name of his business
I would like to hear more about the allegro ocarina that was shown at 10:26 I was thinking of buying that one from Songbird.
Hey David! Can you please do a review or a recording with your Charlie Hind Ocarina. That would be awesome. :)
Hey.. Where can i buy the blue ocarina which u use? With the triforce.. I got one with the miserable tone... where u said "its better to avoid these" ... so? I want to learn something new and have no clue of music and so on... But the ocarina impress me. So help me plssss!!

I'd like to know more about The Songbird Harmony Triple Ocarina if it's possible to make a review on that.
So many!!! I only own three...
That's alot of ocarinas!
can you do a sequel to this were you quickly play each ocarina?
Is the concerto c ocarina good?
Where did you get your straw fired fairy ocarina? And do you know where I could get one?
If an ocarina has 6 holes on the top and two holes on the bottom how is it different? does it play all the notes, seems more awkward to hold? how are the two holes on the bottom used, what are their purpose plz?
Do you have a video showing what’s on your walls?
the white blue one with the access around it I have that one that one can with the Zelda book of songs for me
I'm looking to buy an ocarina like the one in Zelda ocarina of time which one should I get?
where do I get the link vs Totoro poster behind you?
I got one from Amazon its now coming to my home I hope its ok
I got my first ocarina by the time you made the 'Ponyo' song with tabs. Unfortunately, the key was off and after learning the ponyo theme, I kind of let it go a bit and started playing irish tin whistle, on which I can play some jigs now. I want to invest in a new decent ocarina, and I noticed you got a Pure ocarina (in D, the light blue one). I'm very much interested in that one, so could you give that one a review. If I'm not going for the D (pun not intended), I might the alto C from Pure. The choice is almost unlimited of which is available.
