Finally there it is....the full Drive & Sound test with my all-new 2015 / 2016 MINI John Cooper Works being the featured "Automann-Car" for the next year or so. This new F56 JCW is 100% stock and delivers 231 hp & 320 Nm or torque out of a (BMW) 2.0 TwinPower Turbo (weight: 1.295 kg). My special thanks go to MINI Nürnberg & Fürth who made this quick delivery possible and also feature our project on their Facebook page. The particular JCW is equipped with the optional 6-speed automatic, which against all concerns, holds the sporty character of the JCW and shifts fast as a DCT transmission if you put it in sport. As the car now has around 6.500 km on the clock you can be ensured that engine and exhaust system are open and run in. Through the first 2.000 km you could really hear how the exhaust note got deeper and louder day by day. It has received the full volume after I did my final run-in-phase on the Autobahn with around 3.000 km. As you might have followed on Facebook and G+, there is a JCW Pro-Exhaust coming that will be fitted on this car in late September and will bring the car to about 250 hp in open valve mode. +Daniel Tojcic The putting on of gloves was a bit was a bit kinky and sordid in my eyes, ( the very opposite of classy) , LOL! Believe me when I say, the steering wheel is very grippy in this car. No gloves necessary.

+Automann-TV btw sir, it is your way of "directing" the videos that made me continue to watch videos of cars I was not considering watching. it is like a teacher special method of making a study material looks interesting to students. so once again thx for the effort of presenting the footage material the way we like.
Wow, 244 km/h or 151 mph. For such a small Mini, that should feel extremely fast while sitting inside the car. Bravo!!

Schönes Auto , herzlichen Glückwunsch . Ich möchte nur sagen , dass die " pops and bang " des Getriebe für mich falsch klingen , deswegen würde ich eine Handschaltung kaufen . Trotzdem bleibt es ein wunderschönen Auto . Hope my German is good :p

Macht schon ziemlich Lust auf eine Probefahrt das Ding. Hab noch nie ein Auto ohne Doppelkupplungsgetriebe gehört, das dieses Ploppen hat und scheinbar auch recht fix die Gänge schaltet. Aber mal unter uns, ist der Wagen diesen hohen Preis wert??? Fürchte meine Bekannten halten mich für verrückt wenn ich mir für fast 40000 euro einen (mini) Kleinwagen kaufe

Der Mini als JCW ist kein Kleinwagen sondern eher ein Sportwagen...dafür sind 40k nicht zu viel.
könntest du vielleicht mal einen Link in die Beschreibung setzten oder sagen woher du die Handschuhe hast, weil die finde ich echt klasse und würde sie mir auch gerne zulegen :) und wie immer sehr gutes video!

+Chris Tann Well, the transmission does something similar to rev matching on its own when changing down the gears. In sport mode this even is followed by those nice pops in the exhaust.

Is the paddle experience as fun?
Im in love with the Mini Jcw and i might even get a 2015 one. However are they just as unreliable as the regular mini? I don't want buy one and then later on down the road find out i bought a problem. Can anyone help me? The JCW I'm looking at is a 2015 with 7,000 miles on it.

I know I'm 6 years too late but I can answer that the mini is not unreliable anymore the f gen has been really good and the jcw reliability is good as well.

Moin, sag mal hast du das adaptive Fahrwerk in deinem MINI verbaut (kostet glaube ich 500€)? Ich würde mir evtl. gern einen kaufen, hatte bei der Probefahrt allerdings vergessen auch mal das Verhalten im Green bzw. Normal Mode zu testen. Jetzt bin ich mir nicht sicher ob das adaptive Fahrwerk bestellt werden sollte oder ob man mit dem Sportfahrwerk auch im Alltag bei teils qualitativ minderwertigen Straßen klar kommt, dieses ist schon recht hart, jedoch auf gut ausgebauten Straßen echt sahnig. Wie sieht deine Meinung dazu aus?

+Sto Ape Moin. Ich habe das adaptive Fahrwerk mit bestellt und würde es auf jeden Fall empfehlen. Für sehr günstige 500 EUR bekommt man hier die Möglichkeit im Mid-Modus recht komfortable unterwegs zu sein und im Sport-Modus nochmal mehr Härte und Go-Kart Feeling zu bekommen. Der Unterschied zwischen Sport und Mid / Green ist schon deutlich spürbar. Ich hatte bei meiner Probefahrt vom JCW auch nur das Sportfahrwerk drinnen und dies tendiere doch eher zur Sport-Einstellung, für mich für den Alltag und lange Autobahnetappen zu hart.

Lässt sich das Adaptive Fahrwerk im Sportmodus auch auf Comfort fahren? Will die Plops aus dem Auspuff hören und nicht von meinen Bandscheiben :-)

Mario S Ja, geht. Einfach in den Einstellungen des Sportmodus den Haken nur bei Motor setzen und das Fahrwerk bleibt dan auch in Sport auf Normal bzw. Comfort.

+PASTRALZ The Automatic transmission is pretty good. Maybe the shifts are faster on a dual clutch but this is still pretty fast and the shift moments are mostly perfect. I wouldn't say it takes away any sportiness.

PASTRALZ In Manual it won't shift automatically, you will go into the rev limiter if you don't shift.
Hello! How are the seats? Not too hard? And how do they wear comparing to leather? Recently I've tried Cooper S with leather sport seats, and it felt a bit hard, so I wonder if this is because they are new, or this is how it goes :)

Schönes Video! Leider ist das Auto optisch nicht mehr so überzeugend wie der Vorgänger R56. Und das Aufblase auf 2.0 L Hubraum ist eher ein technischer Rückschritt.

+B0navista Das war lediglich der Verbrauch bei den Aufnahmen. Laut Tank-App sind es bei mir im Gesamtschnitt nun 8,4 Liter Super bei durchaus sportlicher Fahrweise und inklusive Einfahrphase. Fährt man auf der Autobahn nicht schneller als 150 km/h kommt man im Schnitt auch mit 7.x Liter nach Hause, auf der Landstraße sind auch 5.x drin. Alles in allem ein sehr niedriger Verbrauch wenn man es mit anderen Fahrzeugen dieser Leistungsklasse vergleicht...ein neuer Audi TT mit 230 PS braucht etwas mehr.

Die Farbe sieht hier im Video wesentlich weißer und besser(meiner Meinung nach) aus als in echt, leider.Ich überlege schon, ob ich mir Pepper White Uni hole und den Mini dann einfach nochmal richtig weiß Folieren lasse. Hmm...Verstehe auch nicht wirklich warum BMW/Mini beim Mini(JCW) nur das Pepper White anbietet, bei den anderen Mini Klassen gibt es auch das normale weiß.

Sound is geil, gehen tut er auch gut, das wars dann schon wieder. Selbst der JCW steht wie ein SUV dar, die Rad/Reifen Kombi sieht scheiße aus. Auch sonst äußerlich unterscheidet sich der JCW kaum von den normalen S. Und der Preis is sowieso ein Frechheit, da kauf ich ma ein gebrauchten GP2 und da bleibt noch einiges übrig.

+SeriousFox faster in a straight line, but 0-60 times are a terrible marker of a cars performance and how they are to drive. Being able to downshift to be in exactly the right gear at the right time coming out of a turn will always make manual faster. Plus, who buys a turbo mini and then lets a computer drive it?

+James M Well I'm planning to buy Cooper S later this year. I wish my country sells manual version of Mini but we only have Automatic option. But hey, Mini is still a fun car even with a automatic gearbox. I tried JCW version at BMW driving center and it was very fun experience. About the last sentence, I think pretty much everyone. Most of people buy Mini to drive but not to race.

SeriousFox so some people or some manufacture data might say so, but in real terms / real driving you have more control, feel with a manual gearbox, the power & torque is more mechanical as its a locked mechanical drive from engine, through the gearbox and to the wheels / tires on the road. I have driven manual cars since 1994 and obviously hate auto's, work has given me a auto van for work and i fall asleep driving it and love getting back into my own car which is a Mini. sorry Mini i still think having a JCW is about the top driving cooper for a hardcore Mini cooper fan, giving people an option to have an auto JCW is like making the brand a little soft on the edges, yes its fine for the cooper S for people that basically can't drive. but keep the JCW a hardcore spec only. p.s no other front wheel drive car is like a Mini cooper, its the best :)
