I have one for 2 years from new. bulletproof no faults. changed to Michelin tyres- supplied turanzas lasted 58k kms michelin have improved economy. average of 62 mpg (UK) since ive had it cheap to tax and insure with good residuals. I intend to keep it a while till all electric improves. im glad I bought it its just massively competent.and looks good.

Yeah, it just seems a little slim on basic features given its Luxury name badge. But as a gateway into the Lexus brand for young buyers, I also get the approach.

How do you find the suspension? Some reviews claim that the suspension or drive is pretty bad over pot holes etc? Or on bad roads. I'm used to a VW Polo 2008 so I'm sure it is a lot better than that hopefully? Thanks Zac

This CT200h is an interesting car. It is quite good looking, has a good chassis but the Prius-based powertrain brings good & bad to the table. I've driven the Canada-exclusive Mercedes B250 and Audi A3 2.0T and I can tell you the CT200h is a MUCH better city runabout; those Germans fascination with DCTs may work in Europe but they are jerky & dimwitted in stop & go commuting. The hybrid drivetrain is in its element at city speeds & the low-end torque of the electric motor is great. On the highway loaded with 5 people that's when the B250 & A3 with their 200hp+ 2.0 turbos really hit their stride. The CT200h would require patience to pass cars. However, you won't be able to get numbers

+Trades46 Great points. Thanks for chiming in. The sporty F-sport package and looks just didn't match up with performance. But you can't deny it's a great city run about car.

Great review I totally enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your comprehensive explanation of the car features. I'm considering a pre-owned 2015 or 16 from my local Lexus dealership. It really irritated me that they didn't put cup holders in the back seat I think that's just wrong not to give people a place to place their cups or water bottles. I think you're totally spot-on about the surprising performance you have for it being hybrid. I live in North County San Diego where we have the Del Dios Highway and many winding Canyon roads through Backcountry to the coast and past lakes and I took it on a good test drive and I thought it performed quite well considering the hybrid and the fact that you get great gas mileage. Everything you said about the room of the seats Headroom legroom was important and enlightening to see as well as the lower door threshold if you pull up to a higher curb. At this point I'm waiting for them to find me a light color interior Plus a navigation system and notify me and I'm considering buying. Thanks again for the review ️ ☺️

That is not a car for Americans, the Japanese or European mentality when it comes to cars is way different. It is a small comute hybrid, with more than enough power for an economic car, with a high reliability and all the buttons are big and easy to acces from the drivers position. It is not meant to turn heads or growl like a Harley. It is a small city car with economy in mind toped off with a sprinkle of luxury and comfort.

I think you have to consider the class the CT200h is playing in. One of the Lexus' main compentitors would be the Golf, or the Audi A3 which both don't have auto-lift gates, as far as I know. I personally drive a Golf mk VI GTD as my daily driver here in Europe, and I think there is no need for an auto-lift as it's only a small, light hatch. I absolutely agree with you as far as the interior design is concerned though, and I'm missing a shift knob or a proper gear leaver, too.

I'm thinking about one as my commuter car and let my wife keep the minivan. I don't see how people could use a compact as a daily driver for an actual family of 4. I know they do it in other countries, but we usually get at least 4 bags at the grocery store. Compact car owners must go grocery shopping a couple times a week!. Not to mention the issues with rear facing car seats! But now that we got them switched back to forward facing they could ride in here if our van was in the shop.

  • @mmeste5218

Justin Lui I have one, it’s pretty great I’m a college student so it’s great to save on gas. Mine gets around 34 mpg which is far better than my last car. I love the hatchback and how sporty it looks on the outside. It’s pretty small so I can park pretty much anywhere and not worry about getting a door ding. The car is actually pretty low to the ground so if the roads are rough near where u live I’d take that into account although it’s not something I notice unless there’s construction. I love the interior though there’s a bunch of features that lexus brings. The sound quality of the speakers is good they just don’t get too loud if you want to BUMP music lol. I love the seats as they are super comfy. If you plan on hauling tall people in the back I’d take that into account as the backseat is pretty cramped. All in all I love mine, it’s all that I wanted in a car and it meets my daily needs. Also, being a young college boy, I do tend to drive fast when there’s open road and to be honest it’s super fun to drive, just don’t plan on racing anything bigger than a 4 cylinder because they will blow your doors off! Lol.

+iTeachLexus please tell them people are sad that the CT was discontinued in the US! I've looked briefly at the UX and I'm not interested in a crossover nor the new angular styling Lexus is bringing to their vehicles. I LOVE the look of the CT. Also, the direction Toyota is going with the aesthetic of the Prius is TOTALLY turning me off. The new Prius is straight up fugly. It looks like two different teams designed the front end and the back end, but they never got together for lunch. Unless Toyota improves their overall aesthetics, I'll still be looking at used CTs when I'm ready to give up my Prius.

Thanks for a very intuitive review . We have also watched your Honda Fit review , and as it stands , we are getting rid of our 2008 Fit , and searching for a new likewise vehicle . We did test drive the Lexus CT200h today , and we like it . However , we are expecting our first child , and for the first time the need for a car seat and the baby's safety will be paramount. We live in a very congested city , and finding tight parking spots will be a daily norm. It seems to me however that the Lexus is a bit larger than the Fit , but the cargo space in the Fit appears to be bigger. My question is , if money was not an issue , which of these two cars would you prefer as far as agility , and cargo space ? Thanks , and keep the reviews coming. They are helpful.

  • @FamilyWheels

    @FamilyWheels

    8 жыл бұрын

Thanks for watching and for the question! I'd say, for comfort and refinement the Lexus is the better choice but the Fit has remarkably good use of space and is more versatile for cargo. I know... split answer but they both have their benefits.

+Jason Lau . I concur. People are obsessed with power & how fast & 0-60 speeds, I personally can't see the point, speed limit here UK is 70mph & if you speed you get fined or high speeds a driving ban. If you accelerate hard round the area you just get called a complete arse by people because I call the speed demons haha. I've had my fast sporty cars over the years & now at mid 40s I want quality with reliability & only Lexus gives you this. Like I said I work in the garage trade & most cars are terrible, European cars are terrible with the German stuff being the worst, very high maintenance cars. Not for me... The guy also says how complicated this is inside!! I nearly choked with laughter, probably one of the most simple highly equipped cars. My motto with cars is- if it's not broken don't fix it!! ( meaning some things are left better alone ). if you know what I'm on about. Cars being over complicated. Again German being the worst offender.

That's not a measurement we tested, Jamie. I'd take your chair to your local dealer and see for yourself. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I really like the looks of these and am considering buying one, and as simple of a thing that cupholders are, I just don't get how a car with a back seat built after 1987 can not have rear cup holders! As someone with kids, that's so silly

Stupid car with 2000 interior. If I want to save money, I would buy a 2000s Lexus ES and invest the difference in a “gas” fund.

This car is the 2nd worst car in quality that I have ever owned. Only a Dodge I've had is worse. ' No, this car is not luxury by any means. My nissans have better feathers and quality than this things. Lexus charges you an arm and leg also for service. Mine blew its engine at 101K miles. AC/Heater blower went out. Buttons feel into the console. Stickers started pealing. Fenders fell off. Door latch came loose. Seats wore from tan to black. Serious quality issues. Serious piece of crap. This car has NO acceleration and if you are in a dangerous situation - you are screwed. You can neither stop it quickly because its weight nor can you accelerate it. It has tons of blind spots. Ton. Ask me... I've owned this piece of crap for some time. I give it a solid "F".

DONN SO YOU OWNED IT FOR HOW LONG, THIS IS THE 2016 NEW MODEL. MY NEIGHBOUR WHO I HIT ON ALL THE TIME OWNES THE SAME MODEL AS THIS CAR BUT IN BLACK. BUT SHE ABSOLUTELY ADORES IT FROM WHAT I CAN TELL. IT'S VERY QUIET I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS HYBRID BUT NOW I CAN SEE WHY IT IS SOO QUIET SOMETIMES I LIKE TO KNOW WHAT SHE'S UP TO BUT SHE'S REALLY SNEAKY. DO YOU THINK BUYING ORIGINAL PRICE IS WAY TOO MUCH? $31,000 , FOR THIS NEW MODEL?

Donny Thumper you bitch ass probably bought the base model and expected so much from a luxury brand, comparing it to affordable, non luxury brands
