    A guy named Harley riding an Indian. Surely a sign of the end times.

    I bought the Scout 60 and put the $2k saved on exhaust and suspension. The 60 and the bigger Scout are very similar at legal speeds. I ride a super sport at track days so the bigger Scout high end power is fades in comparison to that. The seat looks good but is extremely uncomfortable, budget for an aftermarket seat. The saddle bags are outrageously expensive and other parts and accessories are on the dear side. The bike is extremely easy to ride and the torque at low revs is surprisingly good. A fuel gauge would be an advantage and longer service intervals. Vespa 1 cylinder motor scooters have longer service interval. Overall I recommend the Scout 60 it's not perfect but hey what bike is.

    noticeable difference in power and weight between the vanilla and sixty? Digging the aggressive, blacked out urban look of the sixty over the classier, smooth look of the Vanilla Scout.

    Beautiful looking bike. Does it feel like an iconic Indian or more like a Polaris or Victory? Thanks.

    +1RadicalDreamer It's an entry level bike. You won't find much bigger on anything else. Several of the HD counterparts are smaller.

    Looking for some input and help here guys! I'm looking to pick up my first motorcycle soon! I have my license and a little experience on the street! What are your opinions on picking this up for a first bike? I'm torn between this and the new HD 883 Iron! I actually kinda like the looks of the Indian better! Plus, I kinda think having the additional motor with the Indian will allow me to continue riding it without the want/need for a "bigger" bike! I'm NOT looking to pick up a "cheap" used bike so please keep that in mind! Again, I really appreciate the help! ☺️

    +Matthew Kane I'll insist that you're going about it all wrong. Get a used bike for your first bike, the depreciation alone on new bikes is reason enough, but also you can usually get all gremlins worked out, maybe a few add-ons, and best of all it'll already come scratched and dinged so you don't have to cry the first time it happens to you. New bikes + new riders is a recipe for heartache. www.dongaline.com/first-few-months-are-the-riskiest-for-motorcyclists-study-says.html www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2012/04/17/243879.htm Check out the links, it's not just me being an internet nanny. I know if I were new all over again, I'd still buy a used bikes. Besides, there's more to learning about being a rider than simply riding; get your hands dirty and fix a few things and change your own oil. Don't be that guy that lets the dealer do it all. You can also find some screaming deals on bikes under $2k, and that'll allow you to afford all the proper gear you should be wearing lest you become another unfortunate and avoidable statistic. The bikes you're looking at make great first bikes, but you will trade up in a year or so. Another statistic: most riders keep a new bike only two years. Look at the price difference between a new 883 iron and a used one, because that's how much it'll have cost you to learn you want a bigger bike after a while. Plus, your tastes may change in that time and you'll lust after something else. Unless you're okay with a bike costing you a few thou a year or you plan on keeping it past 5-6 years, shop used. I'd like all first year riders to understand they don't know anything about riding motorcycles and to not assume they know what's best for themselves. You're intentionally putting yourself in a risky and dangerous situation on complicated machinery that has great potential to do you great harm; and (another fact) 42% of all fatal motorcycle accidents were single-vehicle, meaning it was ONLY the rider and he did it to himself. You are your own worst enemy on the road. Buy what is appropriate and be more thrifty with your cash - this hobby/lifestyle/tool is not an affordable endeavor.

    Hi I am a beginner rider at 6 foot one inches and about 230 lbs. I am trying to find a bike that would suite my beginner ability (or lack there of) and I did not know if the scout might be to small for me. Should I look at a larger bike?

    +MrSlowestD16 Sportster falls short of the Sixty. Just look at the power difference alone. Sixty has almost 50% more HP.

  • @MrSlowestD16

    @MrSlowestD16

    8 жыл бұрын

    +rclines001 It's a matter of opinion, not fact.. The Sportster offers more torque down low for example. Many sportster fans specifically want a HD, and in their eyes it won't fall short because it has that going for it. Also, if you take resale into account the Scout will easily lose there too. The sportster is also almost 1k cheaper & has a 50+ year proven reliable engine design good for over 100k pretty easily. I'm not sure which one I would pick, there's merits to both. I would probably go scout at end of the day, but I'm not going to make a blanket statement like "it falls short of the scout" - because it doesn't. Competition is good!

    +Roy Rodriguez Pretty much the only difference between the 2 bikes is you lost 20hp and lost a gear. 5th gear on the Sixty is the same ratio as 6th on the regular Scout though.
