2016 Hyundai i30 Turbo Review - Inside Lane

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The warm hatchback market is growing fast with more manufactures offering a milder flavour of their hot hatch. This 2016 Hyundai i30 Turbo is a good looking example of the breed. It is powered by a 184bhp turbocharged 1.6 litre petrol engine and will do 0-62mph in 8 seconds. 38.7 mpg is claimed.
This 5 door model offers plenty of practicality with good led and head room, as well as a 378 litre boot.
The 2016 Hyundai i30 Turbo represents good value too with this 5 door model costing from £23,100. Standard equipment includes a touchscreen infotainment system, reversing camera, dual zone climate control, and sports seats.
Can the i30 Turbo compete in this competitive arena.

I love this little thing - ticks so many boxes and makes a lot of sense, without being dull. Way to go Hyundai!

Holy Cow! I am so impressed I would buy this! This is the first time i've ever seen this model. If the price is under $20k, it would be a "buy"...given that I paid $23k for a MazdaSpeed3 GT, more power 263 bhp, 35 mpg hwy and "Made in japan" if you know wut I mean.

I want that front/rear bumper and shift knob to throw it on my 2014 elantra gt. The new headlights look good too. does this have independant rear suspension?

Very salty we didn't get this in the US. I drive a 6 speed elantra gt(i30) with the naturally aspirated 2 liter.

my i 30 diesel turbo only has 110 bhp ,2013 model , so why has your car got 184 bhp , thats mad !

Great review, thank you. The reason why I watched this review is because I currently own a 2013 1.6 Hyundai i30 blue or blue drive something like that... Anyway it's got good mpg, never dips below 54 even when I drive it quick and a full tank will give me 490 miles, I'm just wondering what is the true mpg on the i30 turbo because as we all know the mpg is always different on the dashboard display than what it says on paper and I'm thinking about trading mine in for the turbo but a little concerned the fuel consumption. Many thanks 😀

+ZeroFucks I can't remember the numbers we go off of the top of my head as it was nearly a month ago, but they weren't too bad for this sort of car. If you put your foot down then yes, it does get through fuel at a rate. Put it this way, 38 mpg is in perfect test conditions.

Inside Lane thanks for the reply. So your saying the car was doing 38mpg in that test condition? That's probably a all round average mpg then? Lol I'll just give it a good 30 minute test drive and see for myself, thanks.

+ZeroFucks 38 MPG combined in a lab, so it won't do 38 in real conditions. Yeah, reset the trip computer and give it a go. Sorry I couldn't remember what we got.

I've had my i30 turbo for a few weeks now and i can confirm that with normal driving and the odd blast of power i am getting between 26 - 29 mpg and 320 odd miles to a tank of fuel. The most i have ever got was 30 mpg but that was when i was driving incredible economical, when you drive hard it really does empty the tank shockingly quickly!

+Gallopingclap Well it used to be a thing that people moaned we didn't do enough boot shots, so now it has become a bit of a joke to put plenty in, even for supercars. The rest of the angles are a case of breaking up my dialogue so you guys aren't staring at my ugly mug for too long.

+Inside Lane ha ha...really enjoy your reviews...don't worry about your face taking up the camera time.. Guess some more moving shots (or interior detail) might be a better option than the extended fixed camera external footage. Nethertheless appreciate your work. (And reply)
