I'm surprised by your comments on the CVT. Several weeks ago, I drove a loaner 2016 Accord LX for two days while my car was having a huge scratch on the rear bumper touched up. It took a little time to realize it was a CVT in that Accord. I would assume it behaves like the one in the 2016 Civic. It behaves much better than the CVT in my mother's Nissan. Great review :)

Nice to see you doing reviews again! Just got a 2016 Civic EX two weeks ago, my first brand new car and first with CVT. Easily the best car I've ever owned. I get nothing but compliments. The EX is the sweet spot trim IMO if you're trying to get the most for your money. The difference in tech and equipment between the EX and LX is worth the $1000-$2000 difference.

How do you like the 2L engine? I haven't been able to go down to a dealership to try out the 2L vs the turbo so I'm still trying to figure out if the 2L is decent or not.

jerry lui Honestly when I shopped I didn't really consider the engine. I cared more for the equipment and the EX had everything I wanted, plus it was easier financially. The 2L is great for the most part better than average engine of this class in refinement and power. The only time it strains a bit is on steep hills or when the car is loaded with passengers but I guess that's typical for 4cyl cars, this is my first 4cyl car. I don't do either that much so I have no complaints. Would love to get the turbo next if finances permit. Most definitely test drive both and consider your needs.

I test drive the ex-t few times didint had money at time, find one thats under $16.000..actually ridiculous $10.994 was going to return to the dealership the next day with my down payment but someone beat me too it.😞😞

I love this car. But to me, being a quiet car is not really an advantage. I'd love to hear this Civic roar.

They should just call the civic a midsize, the accord a fullsize and the fit a compact. This new civic is almost the same size as the 2000 accord lol

Why did it say annual fuel cost 1,300 on the window? I read on Edmunds say 960 annual for the 1.5 and 1,100 for the 2.0

I understand that the 2016 Civic does not have a lumbar support in the seats. Is that true? Have they added this to the 2017 model? Why would they skimp on such a small but important comfort factor?

The hatchback, manual, turbo was offered to me tonight. Latest arrival. And I drive a 2006 Accord Coupe manual i2.4. Not the best choice for winter but hard to find something more fun to drive that the old Accord. Would you do the switch event without the latest trim? (I care about audio and driving only)

I don't know if it's me but I like the interior a little better over the accord. I things it's the design language

The zooming in does not work with Apple CarPlay. It does work with Google Maps on Android Auto. It's an Apple thing.

This is my favorite car just the regular ex model I only seen the L model twice.

Found a 2016 civic ex-g with 82k miles for $17k. What are some things to look out for?

No pinch to zoom is an Apple Carplay limitation as Android Auto on the same car has it.

as much as i dislike the new hatch, i actually do like how it looks as a sedan. Lets hope they ship this one to Europe and they pt the six speed manual in it!

The infotainment system is called "Honda Audio Display" not Hondalink. Hondalink is something completely different

wlsdn0128 it's been a little over a year since I made this video, I don't recall there being an aux port. I have noticed this input being slowly dismissed in cars, just like they are slowly being dismissed with the latest smartphones. Now that more and more people are acquiring card with a USB port and or with Bluetooth, the auxiliary port is slowly becoming pointless. Especially since almost everyone has a device/phone that streams media via a sync cable or through wireless means of connectivity.

does exl variant has a request button on door handle??

at 1:50 the smaller hose says v-tec on it. These cars dont have v-tec

Abdelmelik Farooq Alwahid civic does have a sunroof

In some shots I see EX 16" wheels while in others I see EX-L 17" wheels. Did you pick up a set of the 16" alloys for winter riding?

markspark1981 this review was made during 2 separate days. 1st day I had the EX-L available to make most of the review. I had time weeks later to film exterior drive by shots and at the moment, only the EX was available. So really I had behind the wheel time of civics with the 1.5L Turbo engine & the regular 2.0L

I got the coupe just love it , the only downside as u say is the cvt ,

not heavier, actually a tad bit lighter. You should have said lower instead. Typically later years reintroduce manual transmissions (also the 2017 Hatch will have the 1.5T on all models two lower trims with manual), as well as the Si and Type R.

Terry Chay I said heavier because typically heavier cars tend to have a more substantial feel when driven.

They should've at least made it go 180HP

I have a 2016 EX-T in black. Really wish I had the EX-L instead because I dislike the center console and the arm rests on the door panels being cloth wrapped. It's terrible. Otherwise I love this car.

Honda went back to the 80's/early 90's when it came to that engine bay. Vacuum hose spaghetti everywhere! No fucks given!

Yes, it was addressed in the video. If I'm not mistaking, Bluetooth audio is standard equipment even on the base model civic. Majority of 2015+ cars have Bluetooth audio standard

They don't come standard with spare tires & most don't have them as most people aren't aware they need to buy a spare tire kit ( donut + tools ). It's been that way for almost 5 years. There are other cars in its class that don't offer it standard but the majority of them come with a spare anyways, the Elantra is just the worst offender of them.

Multitouch gesture? It's not a Honda thing, not a Car Play thing, it's the Apple thing! I have Android Auto on the same 16 Civic and Google Maps is just like the Google Maps on my Android smartphone. Pinch and zoom, add POI on route, find nearest POI, Google Now launcher will show me the weather, my delayed flights.. basically it's a bigger screen of my Android smart phone.

Wait.. It doesn't have a CD slot?

MmmmHmmm, it is slowly becoming the norm as more & more people use satellite radio, Aux input, USB, SD cards, & Bluetooth to listen to their media. Most people with an iPhone on android for example have music on their devices or stream from apple music, pandora, iheart radio, & spotify. I for example haven't purchased nor burned music on a CD in 10 years or since I bought my first iPod in 2005 lol

Why dont you do more research, its an OPTION on that car, I had a 2014... and I ordered it. It does not come standard on the elantra. a pump does.

Always complaining about cvt but that cvt just smoke a honda si 9th gen in a drag strip...watch the video

Not going to bother watching but I can believe that. One thing you must consider is that the driver in the manual Si had more fun drag racing than the driver in the CVT civic. It's not all about being faster but more about which car is more engaging to drive. A faster car doesn't necessarily mean more fun / better car. There's a reason why Honda will now offer the civic with this engine paired to the manual ( at least in the coupe )

Can't go wrong with either. Comes down to your personal preference. Test drive both and get a feel of them. Personally, I prefer a loaded up Mazda3 hatch. Now if Honda offered this Civic in its highest trim with the manual & turbo engine, I'd consider the Honda.

Being sold a lemon is one thing but for Honda to try and fix the issues with "Oh that's just the characteristics of the car" is what I'm warning others about. BUYER BEWARE OF HONDA'S SECRET WARRANTY. REMEMBER ME WHEN THEY TRY TO FIX YOUR CAR WITH ONLY WORDS (ITS JUST THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CAR). YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
