Brilliant review man! Such an indepth reviews are very rare. Apart from the car, rainy season's backdrop was awesome. What's your review and suggestions for 320i petrol, as my daily traveling in very less, less than 20 kms. Only on the weekends or twice a month we go for long drives.

Thanks Sunil ... appreciate your comme nts. 320i petrol is good offering in the current scenario ... with 1 tune it will be similarly powerful like the 328i. Overall if you are looking for a 'petrol' bimmer then this is the best option. Also i heard the 3GT is gonna come as 330i soon.

😔😔 i can only see the reviews and the cmnnts saying m also gonna have bmw audi etc etc but m not even able to afford a car 😢 bcz beggars cant be choosers 😥😔.. but nice to see ur collection its really appreciable n may god bless u with a lot of success in life 😊

To be honest your review is the first comprehensive one of the new 3 series in India. Really well done man (as a 2011 Skoda superb owner this car looks like a dream not only because of the looks but because of the bsi particularly :-P

Hi Karan, great review and it has really influenced my decision to go for the M-Sport variant in particular. Just a question, the model you have driven seems to have the red interiors, but a lot of the dealerships are denying the fact that the LCI comes with red interiors. About XE S it might as Jaguar experiments with the engines they offer so you might see it coming specially as Merc is launching their C43 AMG series so the V6S might come in.

Great Review Bro, as always. Will wait for the next one. I never realised the bouncy thing till you mentioned it. Will try to see if it's there on the E90 that i drive to work. Not a fan of those paddle shifters though. Novelty doesn't last long.

I would suggest the 320d as in the lwb current gen lci 3 series is a very good product. C300d currently is more powerful & faster but i still personally prefer the 320d.

Thanks for your appreciation. Diesel sedan to go for would be 320d or may be if you are not looking for FUN then the new A4 is also launching very shortly you can wait for that. In SUV's the all new Endeavour is truly a great all rounder. New Fortuner is coming up too by end of October. All the best !

Sportline doesn't get the Paddle Shifters. However my 328i has paddle shifters as it was a limited ed when they offered in 2012.

Shalu, thanks for your appreciation. Also my car is the petrol 328i fitted with the ///M Exhaust so you will not get the same sound in the 320d. BUT there is an ///M exhaust for a 320d available which you can order from your official BMW service (Navnit or Infinity - Mumbai) All the best !

Thanks emil, well i haven't driven the 316 or the 318d but only the 320d as thats the only one available in India. If you are looking to save then look at the 316d as 260 NM would be decent to power you through the overtaking maneuvers and maintain healthy speeds at highway. 318d though is somewhere in the middle dont buy that. Either SAVE (316d) or SPLURGE (320d). All the best, let me know if you need any more help.

What was the aspect ratio of the rear tyre? Can I go for Pirelli P Zero 245/45 R18 100Y? PS :- I am disheartened with the frequent blow outs of RFTs.

Gurek, 245/45 R18 may be a squeeze ... but 245/40 R18 would be ideal. I am running on 245/40 R18 square setup on the 328i. But the LCI is running on a staggered 255/40 R 18 at the rear.

Hi Karan, an update. The car is shod with Pirelli P Zero 245/45 R18 tubeless on the rear. She has done a 900 kms highway run after that. The tyres are not touching the bodywork. Seems to be working fine.

Hey, you are correct the older 320d/520d etc with the n47 had the timing chain issue. This being a new block shouldn't have this issue. Also its been just a few months this LCI got launched in India, so may take time before such problems surface.

What do you think of 3 Series against the XE ?

Hi Nakul, XE diesel is yet to come out and then things should get interesting. Cabin space wise the 3 series is more spacious, dynamically both are very good. I prefere the BMW's iDrive to the XE's media interface which is not that good of my taste.

I believe you should pick the 3 series as its faster (better performance), FE wise both will be similar, safety wise i'd consider the German better too. Hence the 3 series, all the best !

Its too late for a 530d review as a new gen (G30 5 series) is already out and India launch expected in 4-5 months.

N47 is only in 328d so not all 3 sereies

How reliable are german cars?

Derric, Thats a very tricky question to answer. VW/Skoda have been defining well engineered cars in India but aren't really reliable (specially DSG concerns). On the other hand the BMW's gearbox (ZF) are much more robust and not reported much failures. Merc too has been stable. Other regualar sensor issues etc may pop up some time or the other but can be dealt with once in a while. Overall if you have a good parking lot & maintain it well with regular service these cars are reelable indeed.
