2016 Aprilia RSV4 RR vs. 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Considering how fast, how advanced, and how downright amazing today’s literbikes are, how much would you expect to pay for such performance? Twenty grand? Forty? More? Taking into account the cost of today’s fastest hypercars, which can’t hold a candle to today’s literbikes in terms of sheer acceleration, even paying $50,000 can seem like a relative bargain.
Luckily for us, we can get our hands on the Aprilia RSV4 RR or Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, two new for 2016 amazing two-wheeled rocketships for $17,000 - and have some change left over.

    I have a 2006 1000cc racing bike with no ABS, no IMU, no launch control, no traction control, no engine modes and no engine braking adjustment and it is great knowing they are not there to stop me from flying off the track at any time. I really like that and it makes it so much fun to ride. Each to their own I guess. Enjoy riding!

I'm assuming you know how to read a dyno chart? This is Sae scale that's why it reads lower than this channel's std reading. The green is stock at 164 hp. Brown/Red is Unrestricted at 182 hp and decat with link pipe is 191 hp! That's a 27 hp increase from stock. I didn't theorize these things, I research results. The Aprillia is a great machine, but other than engine sound and it's exotic factor... Kawi all the way!

  • @AfroRider

    @AfroRider

    +Ian Pana You sound like someone who has no experience riding an Aprilia! and you forget a small detail, that Aprilia is just as stock as that kawi. reading numbers online doesn't tell the whole story. there is much more to a liter bike than straight up horse power. Torque, power delivery, engine character, handling and Rider skills are a big part...

  • @AfroRider

    @AfroRider

    8 жыл бұрын

    Ian Pana U right and I know the Kawi is the most restricted, that's why I don't like it so much anymore, because you have to add an extra $3-4k just to get the full power. But the better handling/chassi and extra torque of the Aprilia, Racy feel, looks and sound makes up for the lack of raw power (which isn't much difference) in my opinion. Also, it just feels more special man... Finally, now a days there just isn't a bad liter bike. These are just tiny details

    Neel Beke Idk my buddy had a RSV4 a little while back and after 2200 miles he took it in (after the first oil change) and almost all of the valves were so out of whack it damaged the head, so they replace the head, a few thousand miles later guess what? same thing! So this time supposedly its fixed, it had something to do with the, and don't quote me cuz I'm not a mechanic and I can't really remember at the moment, but the spacers for the valves were not heat treated properly and they failed.

    +Andrew Hoffman Steeper gearing to take more advantage of the high RPM horsepower. But you could also do the same to the Aprilia, it just doesn't need it as much as the zx10r does, as its power delivery is broader.

    He says the 2016 ZX10R is "Worlds better than the 2015 model" I think that must be an overstatement. Some reviewers are saying the 2016 mid range power slightly better but brakes not quite that same good feel as 2015. I would test ride both and make my mind up. I like the review just because I get to see the bike out on the track in stock form.

    +CBRandCar S1000 is a numbers/bragging bike, way too unreliable to consider. They have way too many emgine problems to be taken seriously in my opinion. BMW needs to learn that power delivery and reliability are more important than the extra 5 hp. The ergonomics on the S1000 are definitely trailing the new competitor bikes. They're definitely rocket ships in a straight line though.

    I have to admit that I thought the ZX10R would bring more game. But I also know just how good the RSV4 is. Three things that I kind of wonder about: one the RSV4 does have some engine braking control - the Race throttle map and Track throttle map differ only in the amount of engine braking they do. Secondly, the RSV4 has Brembo M432 calipers which are actually a small evolution on the M50 calipers that are on the ZX10R. Interestingly, I have read another test that slaked the ZX10R's brakes and I think the difference between the bikes on test here could be somewhat down to pad wear or the like, though with the RSV4's engine in the lowest (stock) position, braking is slightly different. Third, the "5-axis IMU" is not really an advancement of what the Aprilia has, as we live in a 3D world, not a 5D world, and I wonder about whether is really an advantage in it or the Yamaha system, which uses the newer IMU as well... from what I have heard to date, the ZX10R system still needs some love to work the way you'd expect. The 5-axis system may be a way to work around the advanced TC patents that Aprilia has. All that said, cheers to Kawasaki, as they have brought a bike which is competitive with the european models. They're very close. And yes the Kawasaki can be de-restricted for considerably more power but honestly this is the base-level V4 here, too.

  • @Mudux

    @Mudux

    +Steve C regarding the 5 axis IMU, you actually need 6 parameters to locate and predict a body position in a 3d environment: z, y and z inclination and x, y and z velocity.

    hi mate thanks for the suggestion, the 959 looks pretty nett over the 899, however it will only reach here on july, which i dont really think ima wait that long, and yes im very awfully less experiance, i baught my first bike which is the fz07, had only put 7000km on the odo, since ive hold some cash i decide to just jump on the litter, my only concern for the heights is when i need to stop on emergency cases, without 2 feet on, i wouldnt be able to make a decent safe stop, you know nowadays, road is really dangerous for speeding :(

    The 899 is not a liter bike in term of power. It got 150hp compared to all the other bike that you mention. However the handling is super and would be much more fun because its easier to manage the power.

    Very forgiving and with its electronic aids, you could make the case that it's decent. But NO, it is not. It is a 200hp superbike, and it can go so quickly with so little time, it is not good for the hands of a beginner. Get a cheap, low-powered bike like a SV650 and learn to ride on it - drop it a couple times in a parking lot like everyone does. Then get a bike that you really want. I know nobody wants to do things the smart way but ...

    No offense but this is a stupid question. When I first started riding it never occurred to me that a liter bike would be a good idea to buy as a first bike let alone a $16,000 one. I mean did you do any research at all? Grab a ninja 250 for the cheap and upgrade in a few months

    I'm an amateur rider, when it comes to racing, I'd choose the zx10r over aprilla, when you race prep this beast.. for sure it will beat most of the competition.. I felt like they choose the rsv4 over the zx10r maybe because it's an italian made, it has a v4 config engine, they felt like more exotic than the zx10r...maybe..but the truth is the zx10r is as good as the rsv4 in any category..

    Odd. I know the subject of discussion here is the 2016 ZX10, and the last one I rode was a 2012 version, but their comments would apply perfectly to that... I am an old litre bike rider, I got my first 4 valve GSX11 in 1980, and the big midrange is one of the things I love about large bikes. The XZ10R is a lot like riding a 600... It does go, but you need to be at about 10 for it to happen.

By the time I upgrade from the ninja 300 all the liter bikes will be idiot proof. infact now that these bikes are becoming more easy to ride the ninja 300, r3 and the cbr300r (yes the 26hp "dirt bike") will be the bike more easy to crash on! Heck the Yamaha r1m has live suspension adjustment now if you go into a corner to fast not only will the braking combined abs save your butt but the suspension stops diving that most people get from braking to hard! And you can't turn it off!!!

    +Afrorider Motovlogs Yeah But I mean if you break hard on these bikes they would help you unlike an non-abs r3 which you would crash! Basicly What I was saying is the liter bikes are becoming more easy to ride than say the fz6r or a non abs ninja 650 or even the cbr500r! The c mode on the r1 cuts the power on it so much that chase said on the first ride video it acted like a 600cc bike!

  • @AfroRider

    +Taijean Moodie The key to not lock your brake and crash is to never rely on your brakes 100%. Brake enough and swerve out of the way. experienced riders never lock their brakes because they don't jam on them expecting to stop. Don't brake on a bike like you do on a car.
