Get a Chinese manufacturered Water Pump. They are cheaper and much more efficient than the European make. You get it from independent VW spares dealers from around R2.5k to R3k. But their lifespan is short at around 2-3 years and carry no warranty. For me it's better than the ±R5k authorized dealer water pump that will still break anyway. As for VW they quoted me R6.8k for a water pump. I've had the Chinese water pump for over a year now.
I believe most of us don't have cars but we're always ready to jump-in on the Muzi's uploads 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have this, 2015 Polo GTI DSG bought with 62 000km for R321k.....they are really expensive and the clean ones are even more expensive. I am now on 90 000km with no issues at all just pure fun, i do have aftermarket warranty. People should not buy this car with understanding the problems it comes with. If you have a DSG box remember its a dry clutch and not wet so do not go abusing it with using the manual shifts at every chance you have, if pushing the car let it change from 1, 2 then 3rd gear you can use paddles. Also if you have a DSG leave the car stock, do not modify it as the dry clutch can only handle 250Nm above that you asking for problems. Hence DSG has 250Nm instead of the 320Nm on the manual, dry clutch. Please do not try to launch it, AKHEKHO ULAUNCH CONTROL KWI DRY CLUTCH, you just burning your clutches

Thank you for a nice breakdown bafo, manje what's you aftermarket warranty and what are the cover benefits?
I bought mine in January 2020 for 189k paying R3800 per month, mileage was 126k at that time, since then the car behaved for a year an half 😂😂then issues started showing up, like i first changed megatron for 18k and added a new clutch for 26k, luckily those were covered by the extended warranty, then 8 months down like i had to change the whole gearbox n I got an imported one for 20k, and while they were working of that gearbox my steering rack broke n I got one for polo vivo for R3800 coz original one cost 30k at VW, and timing chain issues as well which cost me about 7k for parts and works and then 2 months later I had to change water pump for around 4k, esh I love this car but it has impoverished me lol

The pricing of cars in general is crazy. In 2016 my polo 6c gti was valued at 345k brand new and I was paying roughly 4.5k installments with a minimal 80k deposit. Maybe if we all just avoid buying cars for the next 5 years the dealerships would lower their prices 😅

hai wena they robbed you daylight my bra😂😂🙆🏻♂️these cars are roughly 250k-300k on VW website, i once saw a 2015 one with only 120k kilos for R289k, don’t check for cars at local shops you’ll catch yourself buying an expensive car
Here is my take on what you said Muzi 1. Overheating comes from failed water pump. 2. Oil is not an issue in this car from 2013 Polo GTI 1.4 (6R) to 2017 Polo GTI 1.8 (6C) 3. Armrest yes I agree it breaks easily. 4. Sunroof doesn't leak at all guys that's not true. Note: The entire engine uses water so water pump is bound to fail at some point. The water pump last for 2 to 3 years on used GTI's and it's about R4000 in Joburg. People confuses me when they say don't buy a used GTI because it has been overused or abused. I own the same car but 2017 model, bought it from 2019. I have changed the water pump already which I agree it is the common problem. Other than water pump the car is perfect. I used to own 2013 Polo GTI 1.4 nayo it did not give me problems other than water pump. For me the car is reliable. My take on owning a GTI take of it and it will take care of you.

Bought mine in 2021 with 43k on the clock. I only did water pump at 120k. This is a show stopper, definitely keeping it for my son
Bought my wife the 2017 polo gti from the box in 2017. The car has about 140000km on the clock now. Always renewed the warranty, that's key however the car has not had any issues with engine, clutch or gearbox. I drive it from time to time and ya it moves. I think the fact that my wife drives it mostly is the reason why the car is still good as new. I have been trying to trade it in and dealerships outside VW are offering R200k. VW has offered me R250k trade in if I take the 2023 polo gti but that is R570k which is alot of money today for a small car. Its definitely an amazing car if taken care of. But that 60000km service plan is unforgivable at the price. But I have avoided the huge service costs by taking a plan with specific VW dealership, paying R16000 for 6 services upfront. I will be switching to Lexus soon so I can get piece of mind and a longer 7 year maintenance plan. Great review nonetheless and keep up the good work.

I've had my 2017 6C for about two years now. Water pump replacement and a gearbox fix were both covered under warranty because the previous owner was a top G who got an extended 5-year warranty on the car. It has since lapsed, so wish me luck. Just went to Stage 1 ECU tune, which unlocked a ridiculous amount of additional power, and I am loving the driving experience. Exhaust is a bit boring, that'll be the next improvement.

Best GTI ever but I had my fair share of bad experience with VW. My first VW was a Polo Vivo 2013 model that I bought in 2015 then later upgraded with Polo 6 in 2016. I regretted letting go of the Polo Vivo because the Polo 6 showed me flames from water pump issues, thermostat and the steering rack giving me problems. After fixing the Polo 6 then I went for 2016 Ford Fiesta Trend. Never had issues till I sold it in 2020 when I traded in with 2020 Model VW Polo TSI 1.0 which is currently giving me problems with water pump.

A lot of good dealerships take cars in for detailing before putting them on the showroom floor, which is my suspicion of why the paint looks immaculate. Detailing the body of the care will generally remove a lot of surface scratches, decontaminate and revive the brightness of the paint. Also looks like the previous owner took good care of it.

I have a Polo 6R GTi 2013 Model. Bought it at 222 000km for about R150 000 under private sale. It had an almost full service record (1 service missed). The reason I went to for it is because I noticed it already had a Mechatronic, Clutch and Timing chain replacement at 120 000km done by VW under warranty. So I thought to myself, this is a bargain 😢. The only thing I ever changed with my money was the water pump which died literally two months after taking ownership 😂. After that I immediately put it under warranty. It's been two years and I haven't experienced any real or costly problems ever since (except for potholes and new tyres/control arms every once in a while). It does however chow a lot of oil, so for that I do an oil change service every 10 000km instead of the manufacturer advised 15 000km interval. I've put only a down pipe for better exhaust sound, the car is still factory spec, however I am flirting with the idea of stage 2 right now 🙈.

How will I convince people to buy this beauty after watching this video😢😭😭 and this baby is going for R339 900 and the kilos are still at 89 000 km. But it's a 2017 model though😅 Interesting video, bhut Muzi🙌👍🤝

Older used models or New?😊
Honestly speaking the ea889 gen3 engine is a fairly strong engine if it maintained well the only downfall with this engine is the thermostat housing and water pump also the dq200 gearbox is nonsense if it’s not mechatronic it’s the clutches but honestly speaking it’s a fairly good car.Put a Downpipe and stage 2 software you’ll really enjoy the car.

I own a RMI approved workshop i always advice my client to join extended mechanical warranty to save your selves from those unplanned and unexpected breakdowns l.
1.8 is good however the dry clutch dq200 gearbox was it's limit.
Hi muzi can you do a video on a 6r gti and what are the common issues and cost of ownership.
Same here id go for the Aw on a budget of R400k you do get one
Do u have a video on A Golf 6 GTI i still love that car bro
These are nice pocket rockets and very light on fuel, mine is on 178k and I have replaced my clutches twice, mechatronics once, waterpump and every 2nd service have to replace coil packs, like you mentioned Muzi don't buy it if it will be your only car ,but it'd a person choice but that's non of our business how people spend their money
