Successfully tackled this job today thanks to your video. There are two keys to using the existing harness to install the aftermarket kit. Install the missing relay in the relay box, and use the aftermarket switch to ground pin 56 when you want the fog lights to operate with the low beams. Brilliant!

You don't need to remove the bumper, remove a few bolts from the front of a splash guard and you can access the fog light area from there. That what I did. My fog light kit came with no instructions. Great video. Thanks.

I think the next upgrade you will do is sound proofing the doors so they block exterior noise, and don't sound like a tin can when you close them! Great video!!!! Thanks for the follow up with diagram!

The switch has 4 wires: Hot circuit Pin 1 and Pin 2 is regular open, Ground circuit Pin2 and Pin4 is regular open. (Pin1 ~ Pin4 from left to right). You can use meter to check. You'll not make mistake. In engine compartment, there is a fuse box on the right side. Fuse 6 is for fog light. I think the fuse is manufacture installed, just like harness. But you can check to make sure it's there.

Thank you for this video. I will attempt this as soon as I get my fog lights. I have the same 2015 Rav4 LE so it should he the same. This video was perfect! My only concern is that hot circuit and ground circuit switch. I have a multimeter so I'm sure I'll get it right.

I don't know if it's the same think in north america because if i connect in the hot circuit with one denzo relay, i can't open my fog light. I put the two red wire in the traffic switch and i have a power in my fog light switch and i put the yellow wire with possibly pin 56 in right down corner but the fog light not open. I don't know if you understand my question because i'm french sorry.

After having my lights for a long time, I finally installed them today. I'm kinda disappointed in myself because I waited so long to install them since I thought it was going to be difficult. They were actually fairly easy. (I should note that I own a car stereo shop, so this is what I do) You don't have to take the nosecone off. It's tight, but you can just remove four 10mm bolts/screws from the underside of each side, and move the wheel liner enough to get them in place. Then it's a pushpin and two 10mm bolts/screws that hold the blanks in, and you'll reuse those bolts/screws to install the new lights. The top bolt is tough, use a deep well socket or a shorty extension. While installing, you'll see the factory fog light wiring harness, you're going to want to plug that in after you're done installing the lights. (The plugs are green) Realign the wheel liner, and reinstall the four 10mm bolts the same way you took them out. Then, you'll follow the video for the switch installation, and make the same attachments that the video showed. (THANKS Cz Gu!) I had a positive switch, and I used a relay to reverse the polarity. (Relay: pin 85 goes to green wire of switch, pins 86 & 87 go to ground, pin 30 goes to what the video refers to as pin 56 in the car, it's the bottom right most wire in the plug on the video) Then I ordered an AR614 relay from NAPA, pushed it into the spot (under the hood in the relay box) as directed in the video, and everything worked. NOTE: I put an inline 10 amp fuse on the red switch wires that tap into the red wires on the traction control button, just for my own peace of mind. If anyone has any questions on how I did it, ask away.

CzGu, Could you help me to get my fog lights working slightly different than the way you did it on your 2015 RAV4? I have a 2014 RAV4 LE that has the harness and fog light fuse already in place but no fog lights and no relay (same as your 2015 model). I too ordered the kit that came with the "hot switch". I liked very much what you did with all your efforts to help the rest of us out, but it is still unclear to me how to modify the "hot" switch to turn it into a "ground" switch. It seems like you have used diodes in your hand written diagram in part 2 of your video. If I try to accomplish the same method as you did, will this make it where the fog lights will come "on" only when the high beams of the headlights are turned "on"? I would rather turn the fog lights on/off manually, but override the fog lights to "off" when ignition key is turned off (position 1). I believe you stated this could be done with 3C pin 45 (+ACC). However, it seems that Jester Gallardo did this and encountered a whole bunch of warning light problems on his dash panel that he listed in his post. I believe you replied that was probably because he was connecting ACC+ to ground. 1) So my question is, should I use the "hot switch" version that has a control wire (WHT , YEL, or GRN as the case may be) and also use 3C pin 45 so that the hot switch only receives power when the ignition key switch is turned to position 2 or 3? I am still thinking that the factory installed fuse will still come into play if I am using the factory installed harness. I am also thinking that I will still need to buy the Fog relay and place it in the relay box on the left side under the hood. Are these two assumptions correct? 2) I still haven't figured out where my control wire (WHT , YEL, or GRN as the case may be) connects to and where to connect the red wire of the "hot switch". You said in your videos to connect the red wire of the fog switch to the red wire of the TRAC/VSC switch located on the left side of the fog light switch in your video. However, that is also assuming you are using the modified "ground switch". Again I have a problem understanding your modification. You say that you cut two wires and added two wires, but your diagram also shows diodes being used. I also don't like it configured where the fog lights will come "on" only if the headlight high beams are "on". I think its a better idea to be able to switch the fog lights "on" and "off" any time, but only when the ignition ACC+ switch is in position 2 or 3. Can I do this with the "hot" switch, unmodified? I apologize for this long-winded post but I think cryptic explanations are the main reason why there is so much confusion here. Words and detailed explainations avoid all that. Thank you again for all your efforts in trying to accommodate everyone.

If you check the most left 2 wires, they should be regular open for hot circuit switch. If they are not, then check right side 2 wires. If the 2 pair wires are all not open, then this could be a ground circuit switch. Check 1 and 3, 2 and 4, make sure it's a ground circuit switch. .....

well, I tried your method for both the ground circuit switch, and then when that did not work I attempted your method for a hot circuit switch by switching the wires around. Neither are turning on the fog lights. I have the black grounded on the ground screw, the red Ttapped to the red wire, and in my case, the yellow wire Ttapped to 56. All I’m getting is a light on the actually switch. Nothing changes when I press it and I’m getting no power to my fog lights.. any thoughts? I inspected both the fuse under the steering wheel, as well as the fuse in the fuse box, both 7.5 fuses seem to be good. I also tried swapping the relay in the engine with another, but that didn’t work either.

J Diaz I don't know why you want connect it to parking lights. Parking lights will not turn on when you drive. So fog lights will be useless. If you connect the 2 red wires to Acc 12V, then you can turn on fog lights after you turn the key. Pin 45 of 3C is acc 12V. It's red wire. Or you can connect to constant 12V. Turn ON and OFF fog lights any time you want.

I connected my two red switch wires to a positive parking light wire, so that my fogs will work any time the parking lights are on. If you want the fogs to turn off with high beams, you'll need to connect the two red switch wires to a positive low beam headlight wire. That way, they'll turn on with low beams, and turn off with high beams.

The only wiring is to wire the fog switch (if you use ground circuit switch). At the end of this video, you can see the diagram of ground circuit switch. There are 2 red wires. Connect these red wires to red wire of traffic switch (just next to the fog switch). Black wire of the fog switch connect to ground. The green wire (or yellow wire. color may different. it's from pin 2 of the fog switch) is connected to 3B pin 56. 3B is a 56 pin connector which is the longest one on the left side. Pin 56 is the last pin on the right corner of 3B plug. If you have a hot circuit switch, you need another relay.

I watched your video few time, it seems you only installed one blue relay, no second relay on the video show. Can I do the same thing like you did, for Hot Circuit Switch? Will that works? Or, if you are able to offer more picture information for how to install second relay. RE: 2015 Toy Rav4 fog light installation (for hot circuit switch) To: CZ Gu - on your installation 2 you mentioned that the green (pin #2) wire is connected to 3B pin 56. The diagram clearly showed pin #36 ( last pin on the bottom right corner of the 3B plug) . Pin 56 is located on the top right corner of 3B plug. Please make a correction which one is right ? . Thanks

Will that be okay for ground circuit? Or will i need to buy a new switch? With the same wires like the one you are using? This is the only step i need to do is connecting the wires.. Thanks for responding:)

J Diaz If you check the left 2 wires, they should be regular open for hot circuit switch. If they are not, then check right side 2 wires. If the 2 pair wires are all not open, then this could be a ground circuit switch. Check 1 and 3, 2 and 4, make sure it's a ground circuit switch.

J Diaz Actually ground and hot switch has only one wire connect differently. Two red wires always connect to red wire of traffic switch and black wire to ground. You connect yellow wire to pin 56 of 3B, and push the button, if head light is ON and fog light is not, then you have a hot circuit switch. You need add a relay. You can use the relay came with the fog light kit.

2015 Toyota RAV4 LE all have existing fog light harness. Your RAV4 has it for sure!! www.ebay.com/itm/291014764749?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT This is the cheapest one I could find. But the dash switch was not good. So I had to buy another dash switch. Price was low but not a good deal!! The switch came with the fog light has only one LED light -- ON or OFF. Dash switch need 2 LED lights. Both LEDs will be OFF, if switch is not pushed in or car does not start. If car is running and switch is ON, but headlight is OFF, one LED will be ON. If headlight is ON, both LED will be ON. Some one said that he bought fog lights and brackets without harness for about $40. But I couldn't find it. You only need a pair of fog lights and brackets, one dash switch (with LEDs) and a Toyota relay 80090-87026 (about $5 on ebay). Maybe following deal is better: (Dash switch has two LEDs) www.ebay.com/itm/2013-2015-RAV4-BUMPER-FOG-LIGHT-SET-LAMPS-OE-STYLE-SWITCH-HARNESS-/271881302717?fits=Make%3AToyota|Model%3ARAV4&hash=item3f4d6372bd&vxp=mtr

Jester Gallardo 3C pin 45 is acc +. 3B pin 56 connects to ground when the relay triggered. So if you connect this wire to acc +, when you push fog light switch, 3C pin 45, which isacc +, will be connected to ground.

@Jester Gallardo Did you ever get your fog lights working the way you wanted? I have a 2014 RAV4 LE that has the harness and fog light fuse already in place but no fog lights and no relay (same as CzGu's 2015 model). I too ordered the kit that came with the "hot switch". I liked very much what CzGu did with all his efforts but very unclear on how to modify the "hot" switch to turn it into a "ground" switch. Seems like he is using diodes and such according to his hand written diagram in part 2 of his video. Having fog lights "on" at the same time as the high beams of the headlights is very undesirable. Anyone that has driven in fog knows that high beams make visibility even worse! So, I would rather turn the fog lights on/off manually, but override the fog lights to "off" when ignition key is turned off (position 1). I believe CzGu stated this could be done with 3C pin 45 (+ACC). However, it seems that when you did this, you encountered a whole bunch of warning light problems on your dash panel that you listed above in your post. CzGu replied that was probably because he was connecting ACC+ to ground. 1) So my question is, should I use the "hot switch" version that has a control wire (WHT , YEL, or GRN as the case may be) and also use 3C pin 45 so that the hot switch only receives power when the ignition key switch is turned to position 2 or 3? I am still thinking that the factory installed fuse will still come into play if you are using the factory installed harness, and I am also thinking that I will still need to buy the Fog relay and place it in the relay box on the left side under the hood. Are my assumptions correct? 2) I still haven't figured out where my control wire (WHT , YEL, or GRN as the case may be) connects to and where to connect the red wire of the "hot switch". CzGu says to connect the red wire of the fog switch to the red wire of the TRAC/VSC switch located on the left side of the fog light switch placement in his video. However, that is also assuming you are using the modified "ground switch" version like he used. Again I have a problem with the modifications CzGu made. He says he cut two wires and he added two wires but his diagram shows diodes being used. Very unclear. It is my understanding that CzGu's method makes it where the fog lights only come on if the headlight high beams are "on". I think its a better idea to be able to switch the fog lights "on" and "off" anytime, but only in conjunction with the ignition ACC+ switch (position 2 or 3), so that you don't accidentally leave the fog lights on and run your battery down. I need help achieving this. I apologize for this long-winded post but I think cryptic explanations are the main reason why there is so much confusion here. Words and detailed explainations avoid all that. Thanks again to CzGu for all his efforts in trying to accommodate everyone.

+ETPhHm57 yes, I got my fog lights working, but don't connect it to 3C pin 45 because there is a chance to mess up your car, your 5 amp fuse under the dash might blow... just connect it to 3B pin 56, it is just almost the same. if you are on high beam, just press the switch for fog light off... And I made a thread on how to use the hot switch, instead of converting hot switch to ground switch.... Just visit this.. www.rav4world.com/forums/124-4-4-interior/198386-solved-2013-fog-light-wiring-switch.html Hope you will understand my explanation on that thread... @Jester Gallardo On the other website Rav4World, I noticed that you have exactly or almost exactly the same fog light kit that I have. My 2014 Rav4 also has the existing wiring harness in place, and it also had a 7.5 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood on the right-hand side, but no relay in the relay box under the hood on the left side. My concerns are, you seem to be using two relays on your setup (one in the relay box under the hood, plus the one that comes with the kit on the harness). Do these two relays seem to play nice together? Also, the existing fuse in the fuse box under the hood is 7.5A, but my wiring harness kit has a 30A fuse in-line (I believe yours does too). The huge difference in fuse rating seems a little sketchy to me and here is why: No one seems to have mentioned or taken this into consideration in other posts and threads, but there are two types of fog light bulbs that are typically being shipped with the kits from eBay and Amazon: There is the H11 bulbs which is what I have (and I think you have as well) and I believe these are 55 watts; and then there are kits that come with H16 bulbs which I believe are rated at 18 watts and I believe those bulbs are what a Toyota dealership typically installs with genuine Toyota fog light parts. There is quite a bit of difference in the wattage on these two bulbs, and hence, I believe that is why there is only a 7.5 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood because the Toyota OEM bulbs are 18 watts X 2, or 36 watts total. In contrast, the H11 bulbs I believe are 55 watts X 2, or 110 watts total, which is too much for a 7.5 amp fuse at 12 volts. I am not sure if you have the H11 bulbs in your kit, and you did not mention if you used the in-line 30A fuse that came with your kit, but did you replace the 7.5 amp fuse under the hood with something bigger? I would think you need at least a 15-20 amp fuse, but the kit comes with a 30 amp fuse which is pretty big. There is also another potential issue with the higher wattage bulbs: the wire gauge of the stock wiring harness verses the wire gauge of the harness that comes with the kit. If there is a substantial difference between the two, this could be a problem but only if the existing harness uses smaller gauge wire for the power wire. Some of the wires on my kit harness from eBay are a little heavier gauge. You might recall that CzGu makes mention of this in some of his videos or posts and says to gauge it down so it will fit in certain connector splices (not a good idea in my opinion if you have the H11 bulbs). I have not been able to verify if the kit harness is the same gauge or larger gauge than the existing wiring harness. Also, I contacted the wiring kit re-seller on eBay (not the manufacturer, but the retailer) and they strongly recommended using the kit harness and not the existing harness. This would basically turn a 30-minute job into an all day job if you have to re-wire the whole job. Could you please elaborate on the following: (1) do you have the higher wattage H11 bulb types, (2) what did you use for the the fuse under the hood (stock 7.5A or did you replace it with a larger fuse), (3) have you compared the wire gauges of the existing harness verses the harness that came with the kit, (4) did you use the additional 30A in-line fuse that came with the kit, (5) how well do the two relays work together if they are both used in your system, and finally, (6) how long have you been successfully using your fog lights and how often do you use them? I wonder if you had them on for long periods of time if the wiring got hot and melted or shorted out. Thank you so much for responding here.
