2015 Subaru Outback: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
( www.TFLcar.com ) Debuting an all new wagon, the 2015 Subaru Outback makes a dramatic entrance at the 2014 New York Auto Show. Sporting all new, contemporary sheet-metal, a new nose, new interior and a new transmission, the 2015 Subaru Outback is basically an all-new machine. The Outback is the bread-and-butter for Subaru as it is one of their largest sellers, so this updated design is extremely important for Subaru.
The base model 2015 Subaru Outback will have a 175 horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, boxer engine that makes 174 lbs-feet of torque. Subaru says the 2.5-liter can get 25 miles per gallon city, 33 mpg highway and 28 mpg combined. The top-of-the-line engine is the 256 hp H6, 3.6-liter that makes 247 lb-ft of torque. Available only on the Limited model, Subaru says it will get 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined.

Just bought a 2015 Outback Limited. So far I am impressed with the build quality and sound dampening. It is so quiet, even quieter than my 2010 Buick Enclave. And the H4 2.5L engine is just right for my family of 4. No need for that H6 unless you are going to be towing something or carry full size passengers with tons of gear. And the 550 Watt Harmon Kardon stereo sounds awesome. And 33 MPG isn't bad either.

Its 2016 Subaru outback Limited
Just bought one of these so this video has been very handy
I am so glad that Subaru upgraded the Outback. Finally seeing the Blue tooth options. wish they had them on the 2009-2013. But it took them long enough to finally put it in the 2015 model
I've ordered mine! Paid in full up front, delivery in 6 weeks.
I love the new Outback! I would really love to buy one!
Surpreendente! Essa cor lhe caiu muito bem. Espero que a Subaru tenha planos para o Brasil.
I've always been a big fan of this wagonoid.
Clean video good sound quality. Its cable quality on my Apple TV.
It has an electric lift gate, which is the only thing I wish my '13 Outback included. Boo to the CVT on the 3.6R. Great job as usual Emme
I like that X-MODE for the AWD system is standard, however, that pretty much means the manual transmission is gone :(
Well now with 33mpg highway, I will consider one of these as my next vehicle. Love the new infotainment, not to mention integrated roofrack, awd, and over 8 inches of ground clearance. Good job Subaru, I think you may have another customer soon.

What is the door lock feature? the sports one, leaving keys in the car but still being able to unlock doors from a code? I can't find it anywhere in the specs!
I ordered my Outback today. Another feature which influenced my decision that I haven't seen mentioned here or elsewhere is the larger gas tank on the 2015. It has a range of about 600 miles between fill ups.
@kenstephens2248

the range depends on what type of driving. I get 24 around town and the best I have gotten on the highway is 29.5.

V301H i have Subaru Outback 2015 4 cylinder. Just recently made trip from Tampa to NY and Back. Spent $128 in gas in total......excellent gas mileage.....average consumption was 32.8 mpg
The grille reminds me of a 2011-2012 Ford Taurus.
Beautiful vehicle. Test drove it and love it. Makes sense for those of us in the snowy states. Slap a set of blizzaks on this baby and you can blow thru anything.
the devil is in the details, good job Subaru for the roof rack and code open hatchback feature
Why didn't you ask why there is no Turbo option? Doesn't look like they have the panoramic moon roof either. Just bring the Levorg to the U.S.
Will it go up Goldmine Hill? :)
Hopefully they improved on the harder plastics and the poor visibility. Memo to commentators: this is a car based wagon with AWD and is quite capable off road..I would know my dad has one
love subaru, I personally want to buy a crosstrek hybrid, or a forester.
SUBARU IS AWESOME
He comes out and swinging and by the end is like.....yes, it's just another subaru. Looks good though.
looks pretty good. The only thing that i dont like is the grill...
created the crossover segment? its a fucking station wagon.

True, but Subarus are about purpose/utility and going outdoors. Where you come back from biking on dirt trail and just climb into the car and leave. It's a utility vehicle rather than something to show off in.
@Siper2

It's a wagon with a raised suspension that came out in the '90s before "crossovers" existed, most of which are useless empty nesters' vehicles with slantback hatches. No cargo space whatsoever. If that's your thing, more power to you - I'll take the Outback.

Subaru is production limited now (they sale everything they can build). Subaru has no Automatic that can reliably handle the torque of the Boxer diesel 4. Not only that the 2.5 4 cyl can easily top 30 mpg in the real world. If Subaru could price a Diesel between the gas H-6 and 4 I would buy one.

If this is the way the market is headed, I'd be slightly annoyed but I'd love it as well.
I bought a 2015 Subaru Outback Premium about 3 weeks ago. My personal opinion is the build quality is not up to the standards that I would have expected. It won't compare with a Honda, Toyota or Nissan when it comes to functional design or build quality . Had I known then what I know now, I would not have purchased this particular car. I would encourage anyone who is interested in buying one to do a lot of research and if you decide to buy one. Inspect that vehicle closely. Pay attention to little things like the size of the glove box, and the fact that the light in the glove box is so dim, they should have not even bothered. Take a good look at the poorly written manual. Realize that taillights in the rear hatch are just decorations, they don't really light up. Pay close attention to the uniformity of the space between the hood and the body, doors and body, especially the hatch and the body. My rear hatch is way off, but once you buy the car, you will be told that there is nothing that Subaru Corp. can do about it and it is within specifications. The car drives nice in bad weather and that is why most people buy them. Maybe none of the little things will bother you. If that is the case, buy one and enjoy the $65 oil changes every 6000 miles. You might want to google "Subaru oil consumption problems". Oh I forgot, the radio sucks also.

Ken Stephens you did your homework, before you purchased one LOL.........Like somebody was holding gun on you and telling you "you have to buy it", Dude, it is personal preference......this car is tough, no doubt
@Transit_my-way

Ken Stephens you don't change your own oil? that's lame. Especially on the 2.5. Easy as hell. That oil consumption thing is with the 2.0 turbo I believe, one of their newer engines. I have an 08 forester xt with over 153, 000 mile and I never had any major problems. The best vehicle thus far I've owned and I've owned several.
Is it available with a manual transmission? Or did Subaru kill that on this car as well?
@hdaviator9181
10 жыл бұрын
A quick search revealed that it is. Now all models will come with a CVT as standard.
@fatboy19831
10 жыл бұрын
Manual and the conventional 5 speed auto are dead. The manual mode on the CVT is not bad. On the highway you can lock it in an artificial 6th gear. So when you pass you just use torque and the Outback wont feel like a giant motor boat.
@hdaviator9181
10 жыл бұрын
fatboy19831 Manual transmission will inevitably die as electric is the future and EVs only use single speed transmissions (the ones that are coming out now anyway). But frankly, I don't see why, at the very least, sports car manufacturers like Porsche or Ferrari are eliminating the manual transmission at this point. Sure, DCTs make the cars get bigger numbers on the brochure, but these cars should at least have the option as the whole point is to have fun. Just my opinion.
@fatboy19831
10 жыл бұрын
Small inexpensive sports cars with small engines will have manuals for some time to come. In the near future almost all Automatics will be faster and more efficient than their manual counterpart like the BMW 328i and Vw GTI. The Americans and Japanese are working hard to get to that level. I think the Koreans may leap frog them.

best car ever ,,,, if they made it a bit prettier ...
I would lower it and call it a legacy wagon
It looks like Subaru stole the grille from the Ford Taurus and stuck it on its new Outback.
Invented the cross over segment??? Does the toyota rav4 ring a bell???
@fatboy19831

Rav 4 they say is the first compact crossover. Really The Cherokee classic was the first modern unit body compact crossover. I think that came out in 1983 vs 1994 for the RAV4. There were many body on frame options before that.

I think you have bells ringing in your head .... The Forester was introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show November 1995 as the Streega concept, and made available for sale February 1997 in Japan, and to the US market in 1998. The Forester was one of the first emerging crossover SUVs.[2] It was built in the style of a car, but had a taller stance, higher h-point seating, and an all-wheel drive drive train. Subaru advertising employed the slogan "SUV tough, Car Easy". It used

Subaru Guy G LO You must be very young. The Forester was a response to the Rav 4. The AMC Eagle came out in 1979. A car based SUV thingy. That was the stepping stone for the 1983 Cherokee some 12 years BEFORE the Forester.

Yeah, call it a hit with Diesel, and hey Subaru welcome to the 21st Century updating the interior. Tired of those 2001 interiors in a 2014 car! This new one looks good! Finally, a Subaru that is more than just a go anywhere steel Goat! Now there is refinement! Yeah, refinement!
The chubby guy is boasting that 33mpg highway number from 2.5 base engine, but they are showing off the 3.6 model in the showroom...so?? Whats the mpg figure of the 6 cylinder motor!! Salesmen....
It needs a functional roof rack.
@nicksmith8166

it has a functional roof rack. each side has latches that releases the bars which pivot horizontally across the car.
@HondaFamily88
8 жыл бұрын
+Nicholas Smith IMO, the Outback roof rack is a cute idea but its design is flawed. The bar spread is very limited and can't be adjusted and so carrying boats - such as kayaks - would be dangerous because you cant disperse the weight of a long object very easily.
why no more manual? wahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Digging the improvements to the front end, but still not a terribly sexy car. I suppose it's not really meant to be. Interior still sucks. Subaru seems intent on just making this practical and nothing else. If they could try a little more style in and out, keep the always-standard AWD, they'd probably sell way more of these. I live in the north of Canada and for many this is used as a FAMILY vehicle that can tackle the long, cold winters. Would be nice if this was better looking for the summer, too.

The 2005 Outback was beautiful but useless. No room in the boot or the rear seat. It was a looker.
@glenthecarguy
9 жыл бұрын
They are sold out so how can they sell more of them ?? Inside, the new Outback is also an evolution rather than a radical rethink, but we see it as uncontroversially better in every respect. Subaru has lost the upright, 'winged' look of the previous instrument panel and instead gone with more of a squared-off, high-end-audio look at the middle, with smooth, organic curves to the trim elsewhere and the corners pushed outward even more. With additional upgrades to the seats and the quality of the trims, the 2015 Outback is definitely stepping further upmarket.
@mikerockstar
9 жыл бұрын
You're totally right about the interior. But as soon as you compare it to other competitors interiors I find the Subaru to be far behind a lot of the competition in interior styling/aesthetics. And they certainly aren't selling out in a flash. They sell well RELATIVELY for the size of company and such, I suppose. The Canadian market is probably good for Subaru. But if they want to sell more they'll have to up their style game, in and out. And give the base engines more power! Sheesh! :)
@fatboy19831
9 жыл бұрын
mikerockstar The Outback is one of the most efficient gas powered AWD SUVs in America. Four 6.7 feet tall people and their luggage can drive down the highway at 65 mph and get over 30 mpg with the base 4 auto. The outback is fine around town and has good bottom end torque with a smooth response. If you want more power spend 4 grand and get the H6. Buy an X3 or a Highlander. The Outback has no real competition. Every thing is bigger, smaller, More sporty or boring and less capable. The Outback is unique. The closest competition is Subaru's own Forester.

sadly no more legacy this year as Subaru have pulled the plug and replaced it with the revorg!!!!
MEH exterior styling, the interior is FAR nicer and it looks like the garbage infotainment system is finally GONE. If this get's in the high 20's Combined with the 4 cylinder i'd consider it. The roof rack would come in handy if I don't want to load up the cargo area for vacations.
