I am from the UK and bought one of these machines. I just love it, no more waiting 3 hours for my front loader to complete a cycle. My machine also does the spin drain

I purchased the AWNE92SP about a year and half ago with the electronic controls, great machine and cleans really well. Had some relatives spend a few days here during the holidays, they needed to do a couple loads of laundry and they were quite impressed by the controls, speed and cleaning action of this machine. The had never heard of Speed Queen but are seriously considering a Speed Queen to replace their aging 25 year old Maytag.

So, about a year ago, my apartment building switched from Speed Queen top loaders to Speed Queen Front Load washers. I was pretty excited because I figured that when I bought a house, I wanted a FL washer but would not want anything but the best which is as you know quite costly. After a year, I can tell you, I will NOT be buying a Front Load washer of any kind! I will either purchase an old, used Top Load Kenmore or a top load Speed Queen and manually adjust the water level. Here is why: I bought the German brand Persil long before Walmart introduced the reformulated American version because I figured...well...i just should. I love the way it smelled but I noticed that my white duvet cover that my dog occasionally hops on once i've drifted to sleep had stains on it. Now, my dog has been doing this for 4 years and it was never an issue with a top load washer or with Tide or Cheer. I just figured that my punishment for cheating on Tide with a German detergent was dirty clothes so I switched back to Tide. After switching back to tide, I started also using "boosters" such as Clorox 2, Oxy Clean, Biz etc. on my dark clothes, i thought the Speed Queen did a great job. That was until i began paying attention to my lighter clothes. Front Load washers just do NOT do as good of a job cleaning stains without pre-treating as the top loader's do. When I had a top load washer, Whether it was pizza sauce, food stain, dog stain...it did not matter, i never pre treated my clothes and i never had stains. With this thing, I would never even put one of my white or light duvet's on my bed with company coming over because they would think I used it to scrub a floor most likely. In conclusion, if you are planning on switching to a HE washer, you better be ready to pretreat your ass off. Front Load washers get your clothes clean from the standpoint of being able to conquer a larger load and having it come out smelling fresh etc but it adds a bit more work from the standpoint of having to prepare your clothes. Also, those laundry boosters do not make a substantial difference, nor does Borax if you are already using a premium detergent. As a matter of fact, it adds more suds to the wash and creates an entirely DIFFERENT problem when it comes to rinsing your clothes. If you never encounter life's dirt, you will probably be happier than a pig in shit with your Front Load washer. If you want really clean clothes, the top load is the way to go. What tips me toward a top load Speed Queen is that the agitation is more gentle than the old school rapid fire Dual Action agitators. I can say that the front load washer is more gentle on my clothes but what's the use in wearing gently abused stained clothes?

I agree, nothing beats a good agitator for stain removal in the wash cycle. Ive never had to pretreat clothes with my 40 year old GE, it beat those suckers clean-lol I only bought a new speed queen cause I could see my outer tub was starting to rust on the old GE. The SQ has the best spin cycle ive ever seen, no matter what the load that cabinet never moves even a fraction of an iinch, that's due to the SQ suspension that transmits all the load directly to the bottom of the machine and to the floor, not the upper cabinet.

I just got a new 92S and jumped he lid switch too and while watching I noticed the drum tilts right so that had me worried so I double checked the levels and it's all good but now I see yours tilts as well to the right front and the other videos on YT do the same so mine is normal.

Does this machine spray water on the spinning load to remove suds and soap before the actual rinse? My old 1980's maytag did that and it was great. I am thinking about getting this machine and wanted to know about that spray you show before the rinse. Thanks.

Hey like your post on your 30 year GE, it probly could have been fixed. I just bought a new Speed Queen 432 TL and I couldn't be happier, its one of the only things ive bought in recent memory that is of the old school build quality, it gets my clothes super clean, does it fast and I highly recommend SQ. But I also still have a vintage 1977 GE Filter Flo washer and matching dryer left to me when my aunt passed in the 80's-! I was there as a kid when they bought both new, and I still have both of them almost 40 years later and still going. Ive only recently had to start some repairs on the old GE's and both are still running, though I had to go to ebay for parts. I started out fixing a massive tub boot leak when a clamp popped off, but I like the old washer and im kind of attached so I ended up practically rebuilding it-lol Its built like a tank, has a better motor mainframe than most cars today. Using NOS parts (new old stock) I replaced the transmission/tub boot, lower transmission seal as im told they eventually leak, but mine still hadn't leaked and looking inside the transmission it was in great shape so I also replaced the trans. gear oil with a better quality synthetic. I replaced the water pump as it was the original and had leaked a bit, also figured Id better replace some other parts just because they were the originals and parts may be scarce later on. I replaced the belt, water control valve, agitator coupling, hub cover, top outer tub seal, and the clutch was getting noisy and was going to replace just the clutch but found an NOS motor and clutch assembly for just the price of the motor, so now I have a spare motor-lol I also picked a variety of reasonably priced parts for the future. Alas the top of the outer tub is starting to rust and I had to used some of the special GE 3M sealer along with a new top outer tub seal to stop leaks on large cycles, but all leaks are stopped and it should run great as long as the outer tub holds up. I just couldn't let the old girl go yet, like part of the family-lol

In the back of the washer just above the drain hose. Is the the switch you can use a clothes pin of a piece of paper or a small piece of cardboard to slide in between it and keep it down.

You know me in another world as "V_T_ VT". Our 9 year old LG Tromm washer is acting up. The Run/Pause button has to be pressed several times before the machine starts, and we discovered that the spin speed, soil level, and temperature buttons are not responding either. The circuit board is going bad and replacements aren't available. We will be ditching the washer and its matching dryer and are switching to Speed Queen. Will post pictures when they arrive!

+mgrella63 LOL...because that' what those Amana's of that era were. A take off/venture of Speed Queen...Later Maytags, and Admirals...the same loud primitive, metal tin can wash drum, horrible belt drive w/spin drain, and on and on. You can tell I work on these...Couldn't give me one, wait till you work on it. You are looking at a 400.00 40 year old washer tech,.. Yes its OK, and with no competition left, It IS the only game in town. Any belt drive older Maytag, Whirlpool (Kenmore), Frigidaire or Even, GEE Eee, will whoop the pants off these Old Girls!!! Y'all enjoy these old , New Washers. Oh, that one motor control board in the back is still over 300 for you retail customers, cost me over 200.00. I can't believe the American public has put up with the Assault on our washers, with 1.5 to 2.5 hour wash cycles and no water, and yet have to have a cell phone to check their email before they know which way to Walk!!

As I stated, these are old tech washers, with a few electronics added to make them "greener". The spin drain of this washer, along with a not so great tranny, just doesn't do much for me. There are no new machines that I would want to have to buy...find yourself an old washer tech guy, and get a rebuilt, and overhauled, belt drive Kenmore(Whirlpool), Maytag, or lastly, GE/Frigidaire (White Consolidated). Good Luck

All it takes is a clothes pin pinching the lid lever to the frame on the backside of the control panel... easier said than done I know.. really simple though.. thin "springy" metal piece that you clamp to the frame... back / underneath of the control panel

Pull the schematic that's inside the control cover ... you'll find the lid switch is in-line (serially) connected to the power, electrically speaking, right after the plug. This explains the new safety feature that all electric is cut off when you open the lid.

The main thing I miss is an honest-to-God lint filter. I have two Norwegian Elkhounds (no other breed sheds quite like 'em), and my old-school Whirlpool circulated the wash water through a "bed of nails" and it did a great job of reducing the lint and fur load that reached the dryer, meaning shorter drying time and less lint at the end of the chore. Sales-persons will tell you the machine flushes the lint down the drain, but who really believes that? As for the Kenmore name, it's part of Whirlpool group (I call it "Hurlpoop"), along with Estate, Amana, Maysnag--uh--Maytag, and so many other great names of the past.

I have a new(ish) Speed Queen AWN432 with mechanical timer and love my machines performance - but I wish speed queen or someone could tell me more about why my washtub leans so far to the right front when agitating. During spin its better but not perfect, seems it just shouldn't be this way. I cant say anything bad about the machines performance, clothes are clean, smoothest spin of any washer ive ever encountered andbest washer I ever had, but given the price the tub lean really bugs me. I also get that same very loud motor hum while spinning up, but neither the motor or the plug get hot at all and they all do it so must be normal, probly some energy efficient motor design the govt. mandated--lol

The controls are like their laundry mat counter parts even the sound of the beeps are the same. I wouldn't worry about the digital controls. it's commercial quality parts they use. I'm sure they would use good capacitors and chips on their circuit boards. Look at the construction over all. I can't say the same for Whirltag.. They copied GE's design all plastic. Whirlpool use to be good we used to have a Whirpool/Kenmore from 1977. it was a similar design you know a belt drive. and suspended drum but it was all metal the frame, the inner and outer drum was metal and even the four ball joints that held the drum, motor assembly, pullies and water pump. It could tell that it was off balance by making a buzzing sound like a end of cycle single in a dryer, once we make it balance we pressed and pull to start the timer it continued the spin cycle. The machines GE, LG Whirltag really suck. If I had the money i'd buy a Speed Queen with digital controls cause I know it'll last a long time.

+John Reed You may be right, but for what it's worth, Speed Queens have 3 year warranties on their mechanical models, 5 years on their electronic control models. So far as I know, the working/moving parts of the machines are identical, it's only the controls that are different. So unless I'm wrong, they're putting their word (and their money) on the electronic ones being more reliable in the long run.

Really? I started a moderate load (two pairs of jeans, four bath towels, a few pairs of briefs, some socks, and some tee-shirts) in my LG top-loader this morning, and the damned thing filled to the rim step by step, trying to balance, drained, failed to balance, filled to the rim again step by step, agitated (actually impelled: the dasher looks like a hubcap from a '64 Studebaker Hawk, honestly), drained, failed to balance started to spin, banged, refilled to the rim again, repeat, drain, spin, bang, repeat, the whole time flashing "UE" on the timer display. I had balanced the load to the best of my ability when I loaded the machine. The jeans still have red Georgia mud I the knees. My water and sewer bills are outrageous, and the HE machine that wastes that much water just balancing itself without washing the clothes adequately is an extravagance I could easily live without. And don't even start on the wear of the clothes abrading on each other and the hubcap. The Speed Queens top-loaders at the coin laundry do a great job in about 20 minutes.

Too bad they had to screw these machines up by giving them an electronic control panel.

IAmNotAFunguy The electronic control panel sure is pretty, isn't it? I've got the regular awn432 model. Bought it 3 years ago after my Fridgidcrap HE machine's electronics burned out after only 4 years. As much as I love my Speed Queens, I'm still leery about them having electronic controls now.

IAmNotAFunguy Gusher94 is right, The dial models are still being sold, I was on their website just a few minutes ago and their model AWN432SP113TW01 still exists. This is just a fancy Eco-friendly addition.

IAmNotAFunguy Too complicated for you, that's unfortunate. But you're in luck, Speed Queen has a training video, you should check it out.

+gusherb94 Elaborate electronic controls are bit of overkill for a simple function like a washer or dryer and a power surge can fry them. We have a Speed Queen commercial model from 2005 with the conventional cam controller. A lightning hit on the building is the only thing that would knock it out.

+gusherb94 I'm so sorry that it got cut out before the washer was done with final spin. What happened? Did your camcorder die? Did your camcorder run out of space?

Great washing machine but this had to be the hardest video to watch. you kept moving the camera all the time it made me dizzy trying to watch this video. But this is one of the best Speed Queen washers it's definitely old school with the agitator. But now these are really expensive at least over a thousand dollars maybe more and that is for just the washing machine.

These commercials are gross. This guy pulls 5 lbs of fat out of his crotch :/ Nice washer but I still miss the analog mechanical controls. Speed Queen should buy the Kenmore name And SQ needs to glam it up -- glass lids, centrifugal soaks, color options, side dispensers for all additives
