OEM Part is 300 canadian from mazda. Bushing cannot be replaced easily, you need very special tool, and you would have to go aftermarket. You have to replace the entire arm.

Yes, I went for a simple service they recommended 2500$ of "repairs". Both lower control arms was on the list. I have no noises and even tire wear. Ball joint boot is intact. Bushings have some light cracking starting but no tears. See no reason to replace yet.

Need to support the control arm during install. Needs to simulate the pressure of the car on the control arm or the bushing wi eventually bind up and fail prematurely.

I have a 2014 touring 6 spd manual with 260k miles on it. No engine work done, just fluids, spark plugs and brakes. They really made a good engine. I need to do both control arms and rear dampers. bushings are making a lot of noise now.

Nice, I'm at 140k on mine. I'm itching to do some DIY but nothing makes noise yet, just a little creaking driving around parking lot but smooth on the street and highway. Even tire wear. Mazda made a great vehicle.

Simple and straightforward video. I kinda wish you showed the new control next to the old one, but overall good video. 👍

I just took my Mazda 3 (2015) to Midas a week ago. They said I needed lower control arm ball joints. It ended up being almost $200 for the ball joints and $400 in labor.... so $600 job + over $100 for an alignment. I get it.... I got ripped off. But now I'm really worried about if they even replaced anything at all? I'm seeing on here it's not even possible to replace the ball joints and that the entire control arm needs to be replaced? I asked them how much they charged for control arm replacement (2 fronts) and they said $1500. So, they made it sound like I was getting a good deal. Is it possible they didn't replace anything at all and charged me $600 for nothing? How could they replace lower control arm ball joints that aren't possible to replace?

I put a lower control arm on my CX5 but for some reason the long bolt at the outer rear won’t tighten up. Any suggestions?

Stick a screw driver or punch in the slot on the knuckle to spread it. Or hammer the crap out of it since replacing it anyway. Air hammer make short work of it.

i have a 2019 mazda 3 sport gt, need control arm replaced on one side, with the wheel hub and an alignment. is CAD $1360 for Mazda OEM parts plus shop labour too much or sounds normal? located in canada

Sounds normal. Try it yourself, easy job then take it for alignment. Parts + tools (if you don't have any) will still be less than dealer plus you learn a lot.

I tried that & had to heat the Arm. Ended up after driving it a few weeks it had warped from me heating & hammering on it so now I have to change the whole A arm.

Any direction on the other side. the Transmission is in the way of the one bolt. appears the only way to reach is from under and to take off the underpan cover.

Yes you have to remove the coolant reservoir and remove the bolt for the mount the chassis side. Then lift up engine from oil pan with jack but have a 2x4 as a cushion between jack and oil pan when lift

I was able to remove it with a socket wrench combo, in this order: 19 mm 3/8 drive socket, 3/8 drive 5 inch extension, 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch drive extension, 1/2 inch drive 3 inch extension, 1/2 inch drive ratcheting socket wrench. I then used a 'pipe' (I used my hockey net pipe) as an extension on my socket wrench for leverage to break it loose. It took some time and will power, but worked like a charm!

@@JaboTheMechanic do you have to dismount the engine or just prop it up while it's bolted on?

Bolt/nut that slides past the ball joint is 27-31 ft/lbs. Subframe bolt in front outer side 101-126 ft/lbs. Inner front bolt 74-89 ft/lbs. Back side bolt that is parallel to the ground is crazy high.. 158-191. All from these are from the mazda service manual.
