2015 Lincoln MKC Car Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A commendable compact crossover and some weird advertising might help Lincoln escape Mercury’s fate.

Great review! I've owned BMW, and Lexus crossovers, and the Lincoln MKC is definitely my favorite for the money.

As someone who has owned several of the previously mentioned brands, like the Audi A3, Mercedes GLA. In the best trims possible, I find the Lincoln MKC technology impressive. It makes my others feel like relics. It’s hard to believe they are actually newer models.

Great reviews! You are by far the best automotive journalist I've come across on the internet. I'm wondering if you'll be reviewing and Mercedes soon? The GLA? or new S Class coupe?

Thanks for the review & I love what Lincoln has done with the brand & where there going with it. Something different from the same BMW, Benz, Audi, Acura, Lexus brands. I agree with you on the name though. They could have continued the "Mark" name on all of there models. I definitely enjoy your reviews & drive time.

Its a compact suv that comes at a sub-compact price. The fact that it drinks regular gas makes the deal even sweeter.

Lincoln's need real names. they don't need to emulate BMW or Mercedes names, nor do they need Mark in front of all their names. The Mark name should be reserved for a Luxury Sports Coupe type vehicle like the Mark VII and Mark VIIIs were.

If you’re a big person thinking about getting this car go for it. I’m a hefty 480 5’7 woman and I’m very comfortable in the drivers seat. Mpg could be better. The MKX is favorable too if you want you’re back passengers to have knee room

I like the Mark prefix too but when Lincoln renamed the Zephyr, they first tried to say call it the "Mark Z" but customers still referred to it as "M-K-Z." I think we have no one to blame but ourselves for that one.

MKC means its made out of Fords global C platform that spawns the Ford Focus and Ford Escape, both being worlds best handling cars and SUVs in its class among FWD platforms, so I think MKC is a really strong package worth cross shopping as well

I did see it. Looks promising but I never judge a car by photos. They often look different in person. The folks at USA Today seemed to be underwhelmed by the design, saying it was too safe. To me the X looks like a larger C, and I think that disappointed them. We'll see...

How to figure out what the Lincoln names mean: The C stands for Colony Park (the name for the Mercury wagons), but since Ford got rid of Mercury it had to badge this top of the line wagon a Lincoln. Just as for MKZ the Z stands for Zephyr (former compact sized Mercury name later used on a compact Lincoln that came before this). For MKS the S stands for Sable (both the MKS and the Mercury Sable were based on the Taurus of their day), For MKT the T stands for Town Car (this is now the vehicle now used as a Limo). The X in MKX just stands for crossover (MKM for Mountaineer I guess did not sound acceptable).

Actually when the MKZ was introduced, the first to bear the designation MK, it was to be called the Mark C. However, within a short time this was abandoned in favor of the current pronunciation.

Yeah, very briefly, there was some confusion whether it was "MK" or Mark". The graphic on the car appeared "Mk Z". I called Ford, they told me it was "MK" and that it was never "Mark". I believe "Mark" is more distinctive. Just saying.

+Driven Car Reviews I was impressed with the way MKC drove and handled at a Lincoln event. But a little small and as you say, the 2.3 is character-less. Given the looks and adult-size of the MKX, would love to get your take on the 3.7L V-6.

Not a vehicle segment that especially suits a Lincoln. Ford might done better to have developed a crazy high performance Escape as this... or made this a 2dr or convertible.

Except it's about the size of the Q5 in cargo room and probably passenger room as well. It's quicker in some versions than the 2.0t version of the Audi. And it handles well in top form. It can hang with it just fine.

More then change their name, they need to instill more fun into the equation. Theyre vehicles dont project any type of performance the way Audi, BMW and MB and even Cadillac and Lexus do. Bring some RWD fun back and maybe add the Mark name back as well and then Lincoln could be on its way to really competing in the luxury class again.

  • @jeffreysegal2065

Or...Or...you can just buy the others that you like so much. A compact RWD CUV would be marketing suicide. They could call it MKEdsel.

I could but I hate seeing a old American make like Lincoln struggle the way it has. MKC shouldn't be RWD but the cars could and should. That or just make them all AWD to mitigate the FWD architecture like Audi does.. Acura has tried the FWD thing and their sales are nowhere near the others I mentioned even with a sporty persona. Sales show that consumers prefer their luxury cars RWD or AWD
