Man, that was intense.

I have the 2.0L turbodiesel with 170cv and an amazing 350NM (260Lb.ft) of torque, matched to the 9 speed automatic gear box (the same used on the Range Rover Evoque and the Jaguar XJ). The car performs very well, and is very well equiped with heated seats, heated stering wheel, Navigation, 560W audio system and many safety features like lane departure sense (and correction). Very easy to drive in town (very agile), very good cruising at 180km/h (120 mph) in 9th gear, on the Germans autobahn (where there is no speed limit). As I have the TrailHawk version (the one recommended for off-road), it also has 4x4, protection skid plates, redesigned bumpers for better attack and departure angles, increased ground clearance and "Low" mode. It's clearly the best off-road SUV in it's category, but some people complain because have one of the the "city" trims instead of the "trailhawk - Trail Rated' trim. Very good design, with lots of personality.... and you can use it every day, whether to leave your children at school, go to supermarket, but also in a long trip (it's comfortable) or in some snow and off-road (I went with mine to Steinbourg off-road park, in France, and it performed well for it's class).

I'll stick to my 20 year old XJ thank you very much

@@760rudogg i have a 95xj and a 2016 renegade my xj can go more places than my renegade can...granted my renegade is stock and my xj isn't...my xj has a 6 inch lift aftermarket bumpers winch the whole 9 yards...but its never gotten stuck my renegade has lol

@@Stitch0729 well then its not stock for stock lol my xj is on 37s with a 4.5 inch lift stretched 3 inches locked front n rear. Goes everywhere but the point I was making is stock for stock. Stock the xj is a weak platform.

I love how people are shitting on the Jeep and the course saying either "Wow, I've had potholes bigger than this" or "My [insert car here] can do it faster". It's really not about extreme obstacles or getting through them quick, it's about whether it can handle simple obstacles/semi-rough terrain that would be encountered more often and get through it. From what I can tell, the Renegade wasn't built to be an offroad monster like other Jeeps are right off the line.

I purchased mine for the beach..best beach buggy there is ..lightweight advantage for virtually all types of sand.also where I live I can be at 4 drive on beaches in 30 minutes... Jacksonville Florida ..and it has a sand setting on the 4 wd

I have a 2018 compass trail hawk. It’s not bad for the price. Lot of things I dislike,lot of things I like. I will say this though,in the snow,I have the utmost confidence. It was great in the snow with the oem tires. This year I will get new tires. Hopefully it’ll be even better in the snow

That first test was the only one that matters. Similar to the angle it would drive onto the tow truck, in the event it is still driveable.

When does the test start?

Not bad for a factory car based on a front wheel drive format. Of course, a true 4x4 can go over things ten times as severe. But the Renegade did okay. If people want a true 4x4 they would get a Jeep Wrangler, Ford F-250 or higher, or Ram 2500 or higher. The Discovery has solid live axles also but the thing is plagued with problems. If someone wants a true 4x4 with independent suspension, then there is a retired HMMWV or unimog. I am sure I missed quite a few. But not many vehicles have true 4x4 with 25% drive on each wheel. Most are rear assist front wheel drive and some pickup trucks are front assist rear wheel drive. The Renegade is rear assist front wheel drive, usually referred to as front biased four wheel drive. I would consider one for a secondary vehicle but it could never do what my true lifted 4x4 can do. I think I will find one in yellow.

I get why they're doing it but if I'm being honest I think my KA could do that just as easily. To be fair to the car though, I think the struggling at the very start was down to the driver rather than the vehicle

My 2013 Nissan Rogue awd special edition has been in a foot of snow and river water crossing the road. Driven on a goat trail to see the elk in the mountains of N.C. were I live.

The 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk SUV has a recurring power seat problem that prevents the use of the 8-way and lumbar functions. The problem causes the driver seat to freeze and lock into a position on the seat floor tracks. This could create a serious problem in the event of an emergency. The dealer service department is clueless on fixing the problem.

Not to trash this vehicle, but this course is atrociously bad for showing how capable this little crossover is. Jeep's Trailhawk-badged crossovers are best in class for off-road capability. Almost any of the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk competitors can do this course.

AWDfreak thank you for commenting. You are exactly right , the Jeeps are capable of a lot more rigorous course. This was a training event for Jeep salespeople , where some are not qualified to put the Jeep to the ultimate test, so they make these tracks where anyone can drive through them.
