    I have a 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 XCA and those headlights both dipped and main beam give a much more consistent spread of light and turn night in to day. They also compliment the illuminated switches at night. It makes the ride feel special. Try one. Great vid

    Great set of vids from way back Richy..I'm giving these vfr800x some real consideration but they don't surprisingly seem to be many user reviews. Given the boom in the mid range sector it looks like Honda had that covered 5yrs ago. Maybe they will come to have a resurgence. A USB and a heated seat would seal the deal for me :) Ride safe

    Hi Richy and Egone. Once again a fabulous series of videos! I always think that brand new bikes have to be 'run in' and rider and machine gelled before any proper thoughts and feelings can be assessed? Obviously twelve years stand between your VFRs and design and performance are bound to be drastically different. I know what you mean about feeling part of the bike, I felt that when we changed from the delicious Pan European (1300) to the GL1800. Although the Wing was spectacularly comfortable, eventually I fell out of love with it and returned to the Pan.

    Purchased the Crossrunner, 2016 model but 2017 reg saved ££££££ with 0 mileage. As a lover of naked bikes i do enjoy the ride from the Crossrunner. Shame the 2017 model is Euro 4 and a couple of BHP down. Love the bike, so comfy and easy to ride. Headlights at night take a bit of getting used to, but i have no compliants. Shame no cruise control, but hey, rome wasn't built in a day. I am after the side panniers in white but don't really want to pay £700 from Honda?????? Great vid Rich.......The 1200 Crosstourer was just a bit more than what i wanted, 800 perfect.

    Why is illumination distance so short? Or does it seem like that because of the camera? Can you adjust it?

    Bit weird, the way the light splits in to 2 areas... Suppose you'd get used to it in time. Looks like it could defo do with an MRA Vario screen - OEM looks very small

    Hey the lights are adjusted wrongly, looks like they are pointing down too much. There are two adjusters behind the lights, just turn them with your fingers easily. They are awesome and will light up the whole road if correctly adjusted.

    Hi mate, so you have ridden both the V-strom 1000 XT and the Cross runner 800.... So here's what I'm looking for - something that still has a little poke and can move when it needs too. but not to much bang as ill have my son on the back with me. (top box in place) Merely weekend fun, not looking at touring really or off road. Ive looked at so many options Tenere Supper 1200 DL 1000 XT Cross Runner Tracer 900 GT ( concerned it'll scare my son) Your opinion of the vs Vstrom or Cross runner?

    That headlight pattern looks truly awful, would be a deal breaker for me. Appears to illuminate the road directly under the front wheel and then have a big dark hole right where I'm looking and want light and then a bright band just where it will blind oncoming cars every time I go over a bump.

    @@RichyVida rode mine in the dark first time yesterday, awful headlights, thin strip of horizontal light thats 15 ft ahead of you, big hole in the beam, then at corners as you bank the bike over the beam disappears into the gutter and skyward leaving the road ahead in complete darkness. Frightened the life out of me. Only bad thing about the bike and a bit disappointing given Hondas experience in bike manufacture.

    The LEDs are strobing at the same fps as the camera. This is a massive filming fail! Not representative of the headlights at all. Gutted.

  • @RichyVida

    @RichyVida

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Phil Clarke haha what you mean a 'filming fail'? And it's nothing to do with fps, it's the frequency Hz. All leds will do this on film. Also who mentioned anything about them flickering? Not me..

  • @philclarke7712

    @philclarke7712

    7 жыл бұрын

    RichyVida yes, the frequency Hz is more than likely 60hz and your filming in either 60 or 30 fps right? That's why there is a pool of light not showing up at all. They have synced hence no flickering. Almost like when a filmed aircraft propeller seems to stay still sometimes when the rpm matches exactly. The bright halo is reflected light and is slightly out of sync which is why you can see it. Do you understand now?

  • @jetstream454

    @jetstream454

    Um, no mate, Richy said himself that's how it is in real life. Even with a matching frame rate (which is never fully achieved) the strobe will eventually go away for a while.
