The engine on this bike will run forever without braking down unlike the Ducati.

For how "old" my 09 Gladius is, I still have yet to be impressed by any of the competitors. That said the FZ-07 gets close. Love my Gladius. I've used it for commuting, canyon ripping, and a 1600 mile 4 day tour.

Same here. I'm very glad I bought this bike, and no other in this range has what it takes for me to want to switch.

***** Oh, I love the Street Triple. One of the best bikes ever made IMO, but for what my needs are the Gladius suits me well. I won't be buying another middleweight next time though, I'm looking for something bigger and roomeir, and does better on the highway. I'm actually pretty interested in the new Bonneville that's coming out. ;)

***** That's being noted as the 'R' version of the Tracker, which is the "Thruxton", does come with upgraded brakes and suspension. Hopefully the Bonneville version will also have an 'R' type option, otherwise the only real difference will likely only be the handlebar, so just buy a Thrux and through on a more standard type bar and there you have it, and 'R' type Bonneville.

Yea, It's weird that they complain about the cramped ergos... because I'm 6'1 and ride mine very comfortably. Before buying it, I almost got a Ducati Monster (the other bike tested), but my legs cramped trying to get my feet on the pegs. The bike rode... okay, at first, but it feels amazing with the Avon Storm 2 dual compound tires on... Stickier tires really make it a better bike.

Do you know what is annoying about these video's, it's the over exaggerated leaning off the bike when the speeds and conditions don't warrant it.......

I love my Gladius. My only complaint is the brakes and the seat, which can both be remedied and will be soon enough. It's got all the power you need and where you need it out on the streets.

I am just getting back into riding after taking a couple years off and was looking at a Gladius. I have pretty much only had sportbikes (3 gsxr 600's and a Daytona 675). I want something that is still a little sporty but will not get me in trouble like my old bikes did and is more comfortable on longer rides.

If Suzuki restyled the SFV650 with a better looking headlight and exhaust, and upgraded brakes... they'd sell loads of this. That V-twin engine is and sounds AMAZING, and it's proven to be bulletproof. The MT07 looks cheaper and the "modern" design is actually quite vulgar for anyone older than 20. The Yamaha is more agile as it's lighter, but these are both "slow" bikes compared to sportbikes anyway, so I'd go for the Suzuki without hesitation. It feels more like a "proper" naked bike.

For the same price it would be hard not to pick the fz. However, most dealers will do some serious dealing on the gladius, especially '13 holdovers. I know I got mine for about $2k less, made the decision easy.

the only problem with the gladius is the built quality and the choice of materials HOWEVER this does translate into a much more affordable bike for the beginner rider. A new exhaust is a must as the stock one makes it sound like a scooter

I'm thinking about getting into riding motorcycles and I'm quite short so this bike seems go be a good candidate for my starter bike. I'm 4'10 so finding a bike thats not too big for me is a challenge but this one seems like a good one.

cenalina13 I would recommend anything below 600cc. A few of my top picks would be the Suzuki tu250x, gs500, ds200, from Kawasaki the ninja 250r, 300, or 500r. The Honda cbr500 and cb500 is good too.

I am not sure it was a fair comparison to the monster. The suzuki and the yamaha are like 200cc less than the ducati and their difference in cost is huge. The mt (fz in the usa) and the sfv cost about 6000 euro while the monster costs 12000. For a naked close-to-800cc they could bring in the gsr750 instead of the sfv and the mt-09.

  • @ylism

These guys need to read there own dyno's sheet, the SFV-650 makes over 4.HP more than the FZ-07 which has a 44 cc larger motor, and its 47 Lbs less in weight. If they both had the same weights, I think the SFV would be faster too ? I maybe a bit partial seeing I own a K6 SV650 naked, that is less weight then the new SFV & makes more power too, I wish they still made these bikes.

Yamaha: Newer technology, 74 hp, 50 ft lbs torque, weighs over 50 lbs. less than the Fatius and is $800 less and the FZ will smoke a Gladius in the 1/4 AND pull 3rd gear wheelies I might add. The Gladius won't, it's too effing heavy - hence, Fatius! A little front fork work and you've got a killer machine. (Suzuki, 3rd)
