2014 subaru xv crosstrek rear diff oil change

I had front cvt oil changed out by subaru early so I've hit 24,500 miles and decide to change out rear diff oil.
You can see how degraded the condition of the oil is already in the video. If your towing or driving up and down hills/ mountains then I recommend performing this early.
Parts total from subaru $27 w tax(cali)
2 gasket rings replacement $8
1 quart of trans oil from Subaru $16
Side purchase :
Oil transfer pump $10 @ auto zone or o reily's
time took 30 minutes to completion
Use 1/2 wrench with extender with 10mm drain plug socket
Torque spec is around 36 pounds , I did 38 pounds roughly.

Nope! ALWAYS remove the FILL side first, otherwise you're screwed if you drain it and can't fill it! Wrenchin' 101... (otherwise thanks!!)
Tips for drive train fluid replacement- -spray WD-40 on drain & fill 2-3 times day(s) before service makes bolt removal much easier -drive the vehicle for 10-15 minuets before job to warm gear oil
Great video, but why would you go to all this trouble and not put synthetic hypoid in your diff?
Thanks for the video. How much oil did you put into the rear diff when replacing it? Or did you just fill it until overflow from the top slot?

on a level surface it will start to drip and its time to seal it up! just under 1 quarts
You mentioned it came with two gaskets. Were they both the same with the part no being 803918060?
Hi Alan Iam based in Dubai The pack of lube showing in video it’ says Gear oil SAE 75W-90, it doesn’t says the differential oil ! Please advise I was searching for the clear oil number to buy from outside market, as in showroom they sell it in 20 litres. I drove 100k km and it’s time to change both differential and the CVT fluid. Please advise the oil number and the quantity, do I have to fill the oil till it’s spilled both in CVT and diff..!

Subaru stock number SOA427V1700 is the EXACT OEM oil used for differential front and rear
What milage was this do at?
How do you dispose of that oil? Same as regular engine oil?

Yes, autozone will recycle it for you.
i have a 2014 JDM spec Subaru xv at 33948km thinking about doing both differential oil change so i was wondering if you changed your front diff oil as well

Got my front diff changed at 26k, it was a pain to do due to lack of tools I had. I was trying to record the footage but horrible lighting.
