2014 Ragtime Piano Festival Durango, CO
A few of many wonderful videos from the second annual Ragtime Piano Festival in Durango, CO (2014). This is over an hour long, and the video quality is somewhat compressed. It is fun to listen to the wonderful music including performances by Bob Seeley, Adam Swanson, Domingo Mancuello, and others.

Spending Saturday evening listening to this video. Marvelous. And of course, as a classical music lover, I thoroughly enjoyed the Variations on The Robert E. Lee :)
Frederick Hodges is always sensational and the others are simply extraordinary. I wish these festivals were available on CDs. What a treat!
WOW! I finally found someone that can play Ragtime as good as me! I’ve been playing Stride since 1946. Just kidding! These dudes are excellent to say the least! I can only play “Maple leaf rag!” Well, kinda.

Yes, there is the third gathering this year. Durango, CO at the Strater Hotel. March 20-22. Get there a day early because the events start early in the morning of the first day. There's a lot to see and do in the area. www.durangoragtimefestival.com

@@chei24 It was Johnsons "response" to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and has also been called the "Negro Rhapsody"; it's termed that on older LP recordings. Seldom heard, unfortunately. There's a recording of Johnson's symphonic jazz by the late William Albright which includes this piece and which is excellent.
