this and 2017 got the cars all the way up to 217 mph, its insane. Miss the HP, but even with 550, they still manage like 205 mph

At one point in the 2022 race, they hit 207 in the draft

Had the greatest pleasure to be at this race, and I personally recall the 32 back on track after that lap 1 wreck, he had one heck of a repair job, the whole right side was covered in tape

Not before restrictor plates in Daytona and talladega. The used to run 228 by themselves, in draft up to 240

@@tamezzodiac2862 bill Elliot lap average was 210. That’s average meaning he probably hit 220 down the stretches. That’s on a qualifying lap. Now imagine how fast they were going in a draft

@@PrestonsDen they never got up to 240 ever tho. They probably got up to 217 maybe. They were areo bricks. They really didn’t draft well that’s why in old races you see them spread out a ton. Cars by themselves would dominate like bill. Drafting was there but it was really not that effect like it is today. The cars then were all horse power. They really didn’t understand much ab areo. Today they are made to draft super well and all the areo. Back then it was just as fast as the engine can go. That’s why they could get a ton of damage and still be super fast.
