    best video on YT how to remove the handle, clearly showing it needs to be pulled out as you turn the bolt on the side of the door and its the proper method, that's not showed on any other video.

    Thank you for the video! The cylinder of my A4's lock was destroyed by a thief and I managed to exchange it myself with one from salvaged part, saved me a lot of money and didn't need wait one month for Audi to fix it while risking my car parking on the street with no lock.

    If you have removed the actual lock assembly with the two M8 screws on the side of the door and the one silver T20 screw behind the door panel you will have to make sure that the entire lock assembly is in the right place otherwise the exterior lock mechanism will not slide back into place. To make sure it is in place correctly you will have to remove the black rubber guard exposing the inner door where the window slides up and down. Make sure the window is all the way up before sticking your arm in the door. Wiggle the entire inner lock mechanism in place until the screw holes line up with the holes in the door panel. If the exterior lock assembly does not wiggle into place then the inner door lock mechanism is out of place still. The inner lock assembly is encased in white plastic. The assembly that holds the handle and the exterior lock mechanism is black. The top of the white inner lock assembly has rest over top the inner black assembly. If this is the case and the screw holes match up then you should be good. (Your arm should be inside the inner door holding the entire inner lock assembly in place while you are screwing the two M8 screws from the outside. The silver T20 screw goes in last). This video is valid for the handles on a 2015 Audi Q5 TDI.

RESPUESTA yes, sometimes you need to jiggle the handle while pushing in on the locking nut. I'm glad you managed, these German door handle designs are bizarre. Good luck, glad you found a way!

    I’m not totally familiar with the 2010 model handle, but if it looks similar to this one, you can try it. Although, it sounds as though you probably have something broken internally. If so, the handle will need to be removed at some point anyway. I hope it’s something simple, good luck!

    Milos Zivkovic Yes, I consulted another source and it does look to be the same procedure; pull outward on the door handle, back out the torx locking nut until it stops, then push in on the locking nut with the screwdriver with the handle extended, the handle should then be secured in the open position. You can then remove the lock cylinder (if the cylinder seems stuck, try inserting the key and wiggle it a little to free the cylinder so it will come out). Just reverse this for installation. Good luck with it!

    It sounds as though your inside door handle/cable is either worn or broken, probably not related to the outside mechanism.

    i’ve lost function on my drivers side door handle seems like it must have pulled off the mechanism inside that pulls the latch up if i used this method to remove the handle, do you think i could just re attach it once removed or do you think it’s something more serious that may involved removing the interior panel

  • @eldigitom9680

    @eldigitom9680

    3 жыл бұрын

    Either way, the handle will have to come out. At that point you can inspect the heel of the handle and take a look inside with a flashlight on the mechanism inside the door. It sounds like it may be the inside bracket though (that the handle attaches to).

    eldigitom update yup but i couldn’t find anything obviously wrong with it once i had it open and pulled off ofcours i’m not an expert but i thoguht if i maybe just disassembled and reassembled it would magically cure itself lol not the case lol when i push in the bit for re assemble it doesn’t lock into place like your video when pulling on the mechanism with a hook tool so i think that’s where the problems is, it does stay there but doesn’t feel secure and even though everything pops back into place nicely once i screw it in it still has no give to it when i pull the handle and also when u pull that mechanism with the hook tool i didn’t notice the latch below moving so soemthing inside the guts a little deeper i suspect what do you think thsi would cost to fix ? any idea i appreciate ur video now i atleast know how to disassemble a handle :)

    When you say 'the other side', are you referring to the passenger side door handle? If so, try inserting/lodging a flat head screwdriver between the cap and body of the car to provide some resistance to keep the insert from spinning (this could possibly mar the paint or cause some minor cosmetic damage, but you're in a pickle anyway).
