Upgrade the aggressive look of your Ford F-150 4WD with the Rough Country 3 Inch Bolt-On Suspension Lift Kit with Upper Control Arms. This kit will increase the ground clearance and level the front and rear of your truck. It was designed to ensure a simplified return to stock height if necessary.
You’ll benefit from superior ride quality whether driving on the highway or off-road trails with the N3 nitrogen charged shocks included in this kit.
The upper control arms feature Clevite rubber bushings to ensure augmented durability. They were designed to keep the ball joints at the right angles for decreased wearing. Lift height is effectively provided by the heavy-duty strut spacers and fabricated rear lift blocks.
The manufacturer has created a PDF instruction guide that can be downloaded from its website. The straightforward, bolt-on installation process will take around 5-6 hours to complete with basic hand tools and moderate mechanical knowledge. No cutting or drilling is necessary to complete the installation.
There is a lifetime replacement warranty covering craftsmanship defects on this lift kit. Review the warranty information for more details on limitations that apply.
The Rough Country 3 Inch Bolt-On Suspension Lift Kit with Upper Control Arms is designed to fit all 2014-2019 Ford F-150 4WD models, excluding Raptor models.

Just completed this installation on my 2014 F-150 Crew Cab XLT following your instruction. Stock tires so far we'll see when those get worn out I'll upgrade to 33's or 35's. A few changes but all-in-all a straightforward installation. bolts/nuts weren't all the same but of course not the same truck. had trouble with removing the brakes. Shop stupidly over torqued the 21 mm bolts. but after applying a 36" 3/4" breakerbar to them they finally gave up the ghost and loosened. From there on it was easy. Upper shock nuts were removed from the engine bay with a impact wrench and an 12" extension. 6.5 hours start to finish including the Brake caliper issue. Note to everyone, make sure you have a good tool set to work with from the beginning. Having everything on hand made the job do smoothly. Thanks, American Trucks for the informative video showing step by step how to complete this project.

After a year, how does the truck feel? Did you have any problems? I also have a 2014 4x4 and I'm looking to get the 3in lift or the 2in level to put 35s onto my sorck wheels. But I hear people say "don't put a 3in because it ruins the Geometry, just a 2in level is acceptable"

  • @americantrucks

If you know the IWE system on these things (and it sounds like you do) then you know pulling vacuum is required per the Ford manual. Not doing so will risk IWE/Hub damage- I can't speak to other videos, maybe they don't speak to it or don't show it, but I will always recommend following the manufacturers procedures with intricate systems such as this. -Justin

I just installed the RC Vertex 3" kit and I did notice the CV angles are at extreme. I saw a show on TruckU, season 17 black F150 if you want to watch, that talked about Trakmotive Extended travel CV axles. They have new technology with CV extended angles for lifts like this. But after finally talking to Trakmotive they said that show on TruckU was experimental and those CV axles arnt available yet! Nobody makes extended travel CV axles like Trackmotive is about to produce. As of july of 16, 22 they said maybe 3 or 4 more months and they might be ready.

Very Informative video. Bought a kit for my 2013 Ford F-150 4X4. Did not notice anything different between this F-150 and mine. except one minor thing. My instructions tell me to disconnect the EPAS. (Electronic Power Assist Steering) they emphasized that this MUST be done. Can you tell me if you disconnected yours? if not is there a difference due to the years make. also your opinion, Not long ago I replaced the IWE on my truck with a Dorman upgrade that eliminated the use of the vacuum line. Its still attached to the IWE (The vacuum line) but it serves no function. I can still switch to 4H and 4L the transfer case responds. I was skeptical at first. But It worked. ??

My 2008 expedition has a front suspension very similar to the front suspension in the truck shown in the video. I installed a leveling kit (3 inch front, 2 inch rear) and was able to run close to 34 inch tires with no spacers. LT 285/75 R17, which comes out to about 33.8 overall diameter. I'm not not a huge fan of wheel spacers, though I do understand why they may be necessary, depending on the application. Chances are this lift kit would accommodate a 34 inch tire without the need for spacers, or any other modifications. Looks like a half decent kit, though I'd be curious to know how the aftermarket ball joints and struts hold up long term.

This kit needs to come with a differential drop. With this 3” lift and 35’s, it puts the axles at too sharp an angle. It has caused several of my front end components to wear and need replaced within a year of installing this kit. I am having to get an off-road shop to custom make a differential drop since I can’t order one anywhere. I would go with the 4” kit since it comes with needed parts to keep axles at the correct/straight angle they were designed to be in most of the time.

As for removing the entire knuckle I don't feel it is necessary as the added weight of the knuckle helps push the lower control arm down. Hope this helps!

Some kits provide an overall lift in addition to leveling the rake which would explain the rear blocks. Rear modifications would be minimal to none as it's just a block that sandwiches in between the leaf spring and the axle with longer U-bolts.

It’s the axle angle that gave me a problem with this kit. I have had several front end components go out after only a year. I am having an off-road shop do a custom differential drop to get my axles back to a more conducive angle. Actuators are one of the things I had to replace. In retrospect, I would go with the 4” lift because it addresses this problem.

From what I've read, a 2" leveling kit will allow you to run a 275/65R20 tire (basically 34") without any type of rubbing issues or trimming required. While I agree that a little less than the factory +44 offset would provide a more aesthetically pleasing stance, it's my understanding that you can run the 275/65R20's on stock wheels without issue.

  • @Sagittarius-88

I wouldn't go any more than 2" as far as aftermarket coilovers or strut spacers. Once you start getting into 2.5" or 3" without diff dropping / drop knuckles, you're really starting to push the limits of the cv axles, as well as the upper control arm. 2" is generally considered a safe amount of lift, without having any long term effects on the cv axles or upper ball joints.
