No this guy just doesn’t know what he’s doing read my other comment I customize Infiniti headlights and that is not the correct way to separate the lenses from the housing you never cut them I do understand these were already messed up but there’s a batter way to do this

Yo bro quick question, do you know by any chance if a 2017 headlight could fit on a 20’ q50?

thanks for this video, i picked up an old set of custom headlights for my q50 and the low beam did not work on one of the lights, my stock lights are currently in the oven and gonna use it for parts

@@brandonuvinas I was reading your post and you seem to be a lil familiar with infiniti lights. I just upgraded my qx56 with the front end of a qx80. Is there a way I can modify my harness to get the qx80 lights to work with my harness that you can think of off hand

Did you use a “heat gun” to take off the headlight cover?

You can, preferably with an oven, but for this video I cut it off with a saw because it's faster and I do not put it back together.

the high beam on our 2018 Toyota with LED headlights has stopped working. Can this be repaired or does a complete headlight assembly need to be installed? Thanks

Toyota full LED headlights are sealed. There is no bulb that can be replaced. You either need to replace the whole light or find a donor headlight to swap internals from

How long did you put it in the oven
@gftgrill

I cut the lens off. Depending on oven and size of light and strength of glue. You should expect between 20-30 minutes and probably multiple in and out depending how fast you work/how much the glue melts

What was going through the engineers mind when designing the headlight assembly? Perhaps 💰 forcing people to buy the whole headlight when the light bulb went out. Oh, and by the way… Are you prepared? *Jesus* is coming.

Most engineers would opt for serviceability. Accountants account for saving money per unit and sales people account for selling more units. Odds are engineers were told to do it that way because it saves money on the build cost per light and when one fails the company will sell a new light or a new vehicle.

Of course Infiniti probably saved money doing this, but customers having to pay over $1,600 for their headlights to work is making Infiniti richer. So, whoever told the engineers to design it this way was thinking 💰in their mind.

I do not. 90% of the time it's not worth the cost versus a new headlight that comes with a warranty.

@@gftgrill So in modern vehicles with LED headlights assemblies, if the led or ballast stop working, you will have to replace the whole assembly? that's ridiculous.
@gftgrill

@@hedgehogthesonic3181 That is correct. Some models have external control units that are replaceable or external led drive units (send LED light through an internal lightbar), but 90% if the LED fails, you need to replace the whole light. This is also generally true for lower models that have halogen headlights with LED DRL. If the LED DRL fails, it's not serviceable without opening the light and finding a donor light for parts.

@@gftgrill Why would they do it this way? just imagine 10 / 15 years, i don't know how reliable these LEDs are, they will probably last 20+ years maybe, LEDs last a long time, but the ballast will fail most likely considering that these get so hot, and to replace the ballast you need to open the entire housing like you did, it's too much work just for that.

Don’t take notes off this guy you need to remove all the screws from the back of the light Then you can heat up the oven to 275 and put the headlight in for 7 minutes to break the seal then take out out and begin to separate the lenses from the housing you may need a flat head to pry it slightly without messing up any of the plastic
