Some BMW fans seem to be upset by my verdict about the new C-Class, but think of this : It's the 3 Series that has undergone a complete change in character over the years, from a lightweight small sporty sedan to a much more comfort focused car that is almost as big as the E60 5 Series...Many people agreed with me on this when I reviewed the F30 in 2012 and while there's no doubt that its still a touch sportier than the C-Class, I find the new W205 more enjoyable and pleasent to drive on a day to day basis...And...Isn't that what these sedans are all about ???

When F30 comes out in 2012 it was the best premium sedan in the world,now in 2014 the C class replace it,The new C class is now more near to the S class than ever before.the only "ugly" thing is the tablet in the dashboard which cost 3000+ euros

Steven Ferguson I own two BMW 5 series cars. I was going to change the older one to a new 3 series, but when i saw the interior of the new C-class, i was blown away. I tested the AMG package version and it was a dream to drive and very very quiet even on the motorway. The interior of the 3 series looks cheap when comparing to the new c-class which was the main reason why i chose the Merc. BMW is still number one for me, but when comparing these two cars, the Mercedes just clearly wins. So now i'm just waiting for my new black C-class sedan with AMG packages to arrive.

I only picked the f30 3 series over the C class (the 2013 model was the only one available when I got my car) because Mercedes does not offer manual transmissions in America. Plus, the older generation C class was terrible! I do think that this one is actually better than the 3 series but it's just not something I'd want to have for myself.

ijustinw Mixed driving with high speed on the german autobahn, spirited driving on b-roads and city driving...You should get low 8s or 7s when driving on the highway at a steady speed

TheGetawayer Wish I could afford one, Great review, not so sure about the strange blue colour though :) Was it not a bit cramped in the drivers seat for you? you look to be a pretty big guy but to me it looked quite cramped in the video due to the shape of the console, looked like you had very little leg room? Also, I thought you drove right hand side vehicles in Germany like in Australia? this car was left hand drive.

Absolutely best in its class. No competitor at all.

Benz c class 2015 is a real classic sedan. It's simply superb.........

Wow, a really really excellent review Guido! I had no idea the new C Class could be optioned so nicely inside! And I'm glad Mercedes has a good transmission in this car too. Same here. Planning on getting the C300. Very luxurious interior and exterior at the same time has a sporty feel to it.

Please keep making these awesome review videos! If you would not mind, would appreciate your advice. I currently own a 2010 C63, about to purchase my next car, and thinking of either a 2015 carrera 4s, lightly used 2014 turbo s, v10 r8, Nissan gtr. If the 991 gt3 were available, I think that would be the winner. Any and all feedback welcome, and thanks in advance!

I love your professional and quality-driven videos, Guido. I am very impressed with the new C-class from MB. The interior seems very well put together and materials are 1st rate. I am still partial to BMW 3 series exterior design, but MB did a fine job.

I am a huge fan of Mercedes Benz. And after having watched some of your earlier reviews, I was expecting you to have alot of negative points about this car. Alot of people will rate the BMW 3 series higher than the C class by default because BMW is always ahead in the sportyness department in their minds. But this new C class really is a huge step forward for Mercedes, and I think that it's absoulety a blast to drive.

When Audis have looked the same for 10 years or so and BMW's 3 series have such a basic looking interior the Merc is way above them all this time and about time too. well done Mercedes

Thanks for a great review, Guido! Yes, this new C Class is exceptional in terms of driving dynamics, and interior layout. I just traded my 2012 C class for this, and I am just lovin' it. Mine is the C300 4Matic and the transmission is top notch, with seamless power on tap. The sweet spot is the sport mode, where you get a nice comfortable ride, and excellent throttle response. Looking forward to your next, great review!! Keep up the good work!!

This new C-class blew me away. I didn't care for it initially because Mercedes didn't launch the car in the US with too much fanfare. The CLA gets more attention, and I wrote off the W205 as just a CLA. I had a huge misconception of the C-class, and all I can say is don't knock it till you try it. I really agree with this video review. The screen placement is awkward but the airmatic suspension is a must-have.

Thanks for a great and likable review! After seeing it about 12 times it convinced me of two things - To buy the car and to chose Diamond silver. C250 AMG Delivery in 3 weeks :) can´t wait!

Hi - well after 60.000km of driving this beauty, mostly in Sweden, Iám as you would have said "blown away" period! It´s such a perfect car for daily life and has plenty of character if your in the mood for more sporty driving. During these years I found myself wondering if there is anything missing, what other car on the market would I like instead when it´s time to shift this......well to be honest Iám still looking to find something that can match this for me and until I do Iám enjoying every minute I drive this for me "perfect car". Excellent review Guido. For the first time a C-Class looks and drives good. Mercedes is working really hard. In terms of design they just hit the right spot and in therms of driving pleasure their doing all the right things. I think that of the 3 german biggest companies (audi, bmw, mercedes) is the one that is improving more.

being in the UK Right hand drive would make the touch pad difficult for most people to use with the left hand

juukame Very true, the doors are very well isolated and you can feel it at high speed there is very little wind noise. Great to see you notice such a detail !

What a great car this one seems to be (will test drive one by myself soon); I never have liked so much Mercedes-Benz (preferred BMW and Audi), but they seem to keep catching up in regards to emotional and sportier (and "affordable") cars. Great review btw!

We've ordered a C Class 250d AMG line estate with premium plus pack. It's due for September 18th delivery. After reading reviews for months and test driving the C Class & 3 series 335d Xdrive. I adored the drive of the BMW but the styling of the C Class it beautiful. I know the 3 series it much much quicker car but honestly, how many of us drive that quick every day? Once the novilty of the speed wore off I'd miss the styling and the toys of the C Class. I'll post again as soon as it's delivered. I'm sure we've made the right choice. Only could afford 1 option. The 360 degree camera. (£335.00) Colour is Brillant Blue met paint. Anthony.

I love my Lexus, but the new C from MB looks to be an AMAZING car…..and I'm going to take one for a test drive next week. I keep building a new one on the Mercedes website and drooling over it!! =) Having a detailed and thoughtful review like this, makes it a little easier to make a decision on such a big purchase, and I'm sure driving it in person will help also! Good review. I'm looking forward to the AMG version. I just hope it comes with a more aggressive looks with bigger tires and fender flares. The previous C63 was not aggressive looking as the M cars.

Great review, as always, Getawayer! The only this I wish was that you would have spent time specifically on the Sport+ mode, but you may have felt it was similar to the Sport. I was thinking about getting the C400 here in the U.S., but they announced a new C450 AMG model that will be coming in September, so I will probably go with that one.

The C450 AMG has been flying abit under the radar, haven't actually seen a proper review of one yet. I will propably test the C63 later this year. Late to this review but great insight. Mercedes has always been a hallmark of luxury but not really style or driver engaging feedback. That C300 is definitely both hardcore. The W205 will definitely be a sought after look for years to come.

A base 2015 C-Class costs $10,000 more than a base 3 series, but it's totally worth it.

Great review! I have a very similar one, actually the only difference is that mine has black leather seats that are also cooled. I have already done 15 000 km. :D P.S. The sound system is really good, but the 24-speakers from the S class sounds better. :D

Any idea on when you might be able to review the W205 C63? Hopefully soon since I'd love to see a review before my Edition 1 C63S arrives.

Mercedes war schon immer teuer, aber ich denke so ein Pressewagen soll eben auch immer alles zeigen was geht...Obwohl hier auch noch einiges fehlt, z.B. die Sitzbelüftung ;)

Well built cars come on a regular basis. Informative, factual, and systematic reviews do not. I have only recently joined your channel and I commend you on a job well done. Mercedes is obviously trying in this segment to appeal to the sub 40 clients that have a twitch in their right foot and still need to drive to work everyday at 8:00. And I think you brought that message across. Well done and keep up the good work.

why does the media screen have such a thick border? they could have made it smaller but extend the image to the edges.

Well... I just watched and I drove the new C Class recently at Estoril Race Track, done two laps with it and I as amazed with the handling...the car I drove had the AMG Package and the braking was so, so good...sadly it was just two laps and right when I was getting used to the chassis I had to park the car at the Paddock... lol Sadly my car didn't have the Burmeister Sound and the Airmatic suspension...oh...and it was a 177hp C 220 CDI. Right after I drove the C Class I said to my self...screw the F30 3 Series... lol And I drove that one as well...having said that, I'd choose the C Class in a heartbeat, that interior, my oh my....

Wow. Really made me want it. I still can't choose between e250-2011 or c250-2014. Any suggestions

Guido~~The horizontal piece on the instrumental panel that looks like aluminum is cheap plastic on vehicles offered in the USA! Is it different on German models?

Steve W : I didn't touch it, haha, but I doubt any manufacturer would use real aluminium on such a panel, Steve..I would be worried if it was so cheap that it ratteles or causes sounds, but to my eyes it looks great :)

TheGetawayer I really thought that this plus the screen that looked like an afterthought took away from the car! I own a 2014 Cadillac ATS which I think surpasses the Mercedes. I've owned several Mercedes previously and really liked them but I think both the CLA & C really are not the quality to be expected. But only my opinion!

Sadly I never hear back from Chevrolet when I email them...I think Mercedes has worked on the quality and is on a good path again. The CLA isn't the best example though, the C-Class has a much nicer build quality imo

Nice Review again Guido! :) I'm not sure if I agree on everything, but you certainly are right when you say that this is the best car in its segment at this moment. Especially the interior looks very nice. I'm looking forward to drive a 6-cylinder, 4-matic (hopefully diesel) version of the T-modell if and when that comes available. It may even be a replacement candidate for my A6 Avant next year... And as you know, that's not something I would easily say about a Mercedes. I'm curious what Audi will come up with though. The current A4 has become too dated to be a serious opponent for BMW and Mercedes.

Suzanne Feyens : I care about your feedback alot Suzanne, since few people have such indepth knowledge as you have...I can't wait to hear from you after a test drive, haha...I think Mercedes has learned alot from Audi and Mercedes, so it's only fair to give them credit imo...I think I prefer the design of the new C-Class and what I've seen about the new 2015 A4, that won't change...It's just lovely :)

Beautiful car but i don't know why i just prefer the dashboard and screen of the old C-class. Other than that, everything looks real good in this car, can't wait to see how the AMG does

TheGetawayer I saw the S-Class, it is very well done. I think the new design fits it perfectly along with the E-Class. I hope they improve the screen placement when they make the AMG model but for now i will stick to my C-63. Also hope the engine for the new AMG is similar to the current C-63

TheGetawayer I hope not because the M3 looks great but the engine lets it down. I won't mind if the new engine makes the car faster though. Anyways i know the guys at AMG won't disappoint and great video as always

Jamil Mukhtar they won't get rid of the v8, i watch a video about c class on another channel, i can't mention the channel tho..

I own one and I'm addicted to this car and that Burmester kick-ass sound system! :D You can see my movies and acceleration tests 0-100-0km/h. BTW My wife likes that center screen isn't driver oriented so there is a reason why Mercedes decided to put it in neutral stance.

Über das Getriebe habe ich eigentlich bisher kaum etwas Positives gehört, immer hieß es dass die 8-Gang-Automatik von ZF in den BMW's wäre deutlich besser. Wirst du auch mal die E-Klasse mit der neuen 9-Gang-Automatik fahren? Klasse Video, wie immer :)

fe1138lix : Mercedes hat ja an der 7G Tronic gearbeitet und ich finde das spürt man sehr deutlich. Die ZF ist sicher noch etwas schneller im manuellen Modus, aber das ist wirklich schon Erbsenzählerei. Mit der neuen Segelfunktion hat Mercedes auch noch ein Ass im Ärmel...Wenn man mir eine E-Klasse anbietet, nehme ich sie gerne an :)

Nice review! Could you please tell me more abou C250 engine? Is it good? Thinking about it, impossible to test, diesel everywhere :) How is flexible acceleration? What color you have for test? Is it Palladium? Thanks

Prokop Louda I was very happy with it...Decent acceleration, good torque ( it's a turbo engine so you expect that ) and the fuel economy was fine too. So yeah, I can recommend the C250 :)

What color is that car? Is it the diamond silver metallic? It looks almost blue.

Despite being a BMW fanboy, though I'm a fan of different marques too, I'd have to agree with your view on the C class being the class leader. As soon as I read the specifications in Wheels magazine before the release date I knew this would be the best car in its class. The build quality is stunning. Only criticisms for me are that the screen detracts from the aesthetic appeal of the interior as does the centre console touchpad, which is made redundant by the circular toggle switch. This would not stop me from buying one if I 1. had the means:) and 2 had a family, as the engineering is brilliant.

I hate myself for not waiting for this car. I got the Infiniti Q50. A very good car as well with lots of power and technology, but this car just captures my heart. But, I still need to test drive this car though to see how it compares, and if it drives as awesome as it looks, then I am in trouble ;-)

Alex Haha, well I have very little experience with Infinitis ( not a popular brand here in Audi-BMW-Mercedes-Land ) but I filmed a review of the M30d a while ago and liked it alot. Keep me updated and tell me your impressions after the test drive :)

Can I just thank you for probably the most practical review of the W205 C Class... I have struggled to find straightforward review of the chassis and suspension.... we have just ordered a 2016 C200 with AMG and lots of extras but we just could not decide on the suspension... we are in Dubai and had the dealer usually fitting the sports suspension, 19" wheels & AMG kit.... but I am pulled between the Agility with damper control or the Airmatic ???? Do you have any thoughts ?..... I also spotted in your review you had the digital speedo showing in the small centre screen right in front of the driver in large digits ..... in the demo car we had we just could not find how to do it .... I would be really grateful for your guidance.... but again thanks for a really well done review :-) All the best Darren

I really hate that new gear shift on the c class. That dainty little lever is really annoying to get used to.

Someone can say me what is the colour name of this mercedes?

The C-Class is now a half a tick higher then the 3 Series and A4. It's got higher price tag too though.

Good review. But I would like in-depth drivability feedback. I have recently tried a (2014) C250, and an E350, and could not believe they have degraded so much for the last decade. I have a 2003 C230 Kompressor, and it drives circles around the 2014 C250 at low speeds. It has a super-smooth torque curve. It feels heavy and controllable. Its steering is accurate. The C250 felt 'fluid' when accelerating from 0, and acceleration was not predictable at all. E350 felt nowhere like a high-end Mercedes, more like a luxury Japanese model. It felt light, unstable, and had a bumpy ride. I guess they call it sporty these days. I also have a 2003 BMW 525i, and similarly cannot believe how they have degraded since then. The new 4-cyl engines are really screwing them up. The 6-cyl turbos are all-or-nothing, they have no smooth torque curve, and feel quite jumpy. The 4-cyl turbo at low speeds does not have a smooth torque curve. The 3 series is the same as 5 series. The transmission is not correctly tuned. E.g. when driving on a parking lot, it would upshift unpredictably and dash forward. The car is quite jumpy. I guess this is the new sporty. The steering has no feel. My 525i is very smooth v6, and although it is not turbo, has plenty of power at low revs, and accelerates eagerly, predictably and smoothly. I have also tried an Audi A6 with 4 cyl/Stronic. Surprise, it feels smooth and predictable, but price point is totally unjustified. BTW all these cars have a lame feeling electric steering. I also hate the aluminum accents, they look cheap and out of place on pretty much any interior (aluminum knobs?? since when this is luxury? maybe on an alarm clock?). So I do not share the excitement, till those problems are fixed. Looks like the Germans decided to follow the Japanese lead - light cars with fuel economy, cheap build, no solidity, and no predictability. Audi seems to be a little better. I reluctantly got a BMW 328i. It is ok. On the highway. Except suspension is too stiff for long trips. Where is the excitement? Or for that I need to dish out 100k these days?

Julian Rozentur The genereal problem is that the car grow in size, get heavier and also get electric steering too...Your C230 is lighter, smaller and sure more analoge than the new one. I think the interior of the new C-Class is ace and I wouldn't agree that it's cheap and japanese. In the end these are not sportscars, they are cars that are build to offer comfort on long journeys. So excitment isn't priority for one of these sedans...But I loved reading your impressions, Sir ! Greetings from germany, TheGetawayer

lol you must be on drugs... a 2003 c class is nothing compared to a 2012-2014 C class. I'm a mechanic and drive these cars every day. I think you just got " used " to your car. The only bad thing I gotta say about the c250 and c300 is the engine is not very powerful... that is why they have the c350 which takes it up quiet a bit. But the suspension and everything else is 100x better than 10 years ago.

+TheGetawayer Hi GUIDO, Greetings from Mexico. I've been to the dealership a month ago and compared this C-class to the CLA which has a great 4 - door coupe style, though I agree with you the C-class looks more premium and roomier than the CLA. a bit more expensive too yet it worth it. The only complaint about this C-class would be that afterthought tacky screen on the dashboard. I prefer an integrated or pop-up one. Great review by the way. keep it up brother.
